DESCRIPTION
HISTORY
The Holocron of Kazdan Paratus was constructed just prior to the infamous Jedi Purge. Its manufacturer, Kazdan Paratus, suffered a mental breakdown and fled the Jedi Temple- leaving his colleagues and pupils to be massacred. In addition to several droids, Paratus brought along his holocron.
The maddened master fled to Raxus Prime where he erected a crude mockery of the Jedi Temple from the planet’s colossal mountains of refuse. He stashed the holocron away within its labyrinthine halls as he went about his increasingly insane business. Eventually an uppity Sith apprentice appeared and coldly murdered the Aleena Jedi master, ending his reign of terror over Raxus Prime. The apprentice scarcely bothered to look around after that, leaving the holocron undiscovered. Without Paratus to maintain the structure, the junk Jedi Temple slowly collapsed in on itself, leaving the Paratus Holocron buried under mountains of garbage.
Decades later, it was uncovered by an archaeological team searching for the ruins of a Tionese civilization that was once believed to have lived on the planet. The holocron could not be opened by anyone present at the dig site so it was assumed to just be another mundane Jedi bauble. It was shipped to a museum on Chandaar where it languished for a few more decades. Eventually that museum could no longer afford to stay open and so its contents went up for public auction. Paratus’ holocron was purchased by an agent of the New Jedi Order. While the holocron was being shipped to the new academy on Yavin IV, it was intercepted by pirates and sold to black market traders.
The holocron shifted hands a number of times before eventually winding up in the hands of a Devaronian named Legau. Legau was unaware that it held any real value to anyone, and so offered it to Adekos alongside the original Sith scrolls that were promised in order to placate the angry Umbaran.
Paratus’ holocron continues to remain in Adekos’ custody today.
CONTENTS
Gifted machinist and droid engineer that he was, Kazdan Paratus left very detailed instructions on related Force Powers in his holocron. Naturally there is Mechu-Deru, but in addition to this are the less well-known powers of Technometry and Electronic Manipulation. Having fought in the Clone Wars against numerous Separatist droids, Kazdan also made use of Mechu-Macture, otherwise known as Ionize Droid in order to acquire advanced models for his own personal study.
After losing much of his division of Clone Troopers during a pivotal battle in the Clone Wars, Paratus was forced to construct replacement soldiers out of random debris. Destroyed vehicles, droids, busted weapons, spent power cells, etc. The results of this were a number of quasi-droid like entities held together entirely from the Force. These aberrations would become known as Junk Golems. The Jedi Council never had a chance to deliberate on whether or not such a power was in-line with Jedi ethics. Kazdan documented it on his holocron all the same, and then the Council was brutally murdered before they had a real chance to comment on it.
Jedi (barring a few obnoxious examples of more recent years) are less likely to exhibit the blatant hubris of Sith. Since the holocron was constructed when he was still of sound mind and body, Kazdan Paratus details the events of his life and some important aspects of Jedi history (as it pertained to his beloved Technical Division) accurately and credibly. Kazdan details some of his own personal philosophies as well, but these only deviate from the normal Jedi codes in his emphasis on engineering and practical science.
