OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

Intent: To create a provider of odd jobs and IC justification for player characters to appear in threads on the site.

Links: N/A.
Company Submission: N/A.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Organization Name: The Hex
Classification: Employer, Middleman, Deep Web Forum (Criminal Org. to a degree)
Loyalties: N/A, it’s an intermediary for jobs and nothing more.
Organization Symbol: A set of four polygons, one of which is smaller than the rest.
Description: The Hex is an organization meant to act as a provider of odd jobs to people with the audacity or will to perform them. It holds both legal and illegal odd jobs accessible through a heavily encrypted deep web application used by its members.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Headquarters: N/A, the Hex has no physical HQ. It’s all digital.
Realm: N/A
Domain: N/A

Notable Assets:
The Hex has volunteered safe houses provided by associated work partners that are scattered across the galaxy. It is a place for both legal and illegal workers to lay low and rest up between jobs. It is forbidden to act against one another in these places as it may draw unwanted attention to these places and as such any and all disputes has to be settled outside.

SOCIAL INFORMATION

Hierarchy:
The power structure is very simple and almost non-existent:
  • Owner — An enigmatic entity known only as the “Hexmaster” who organizes the whole thing.
  • Fixer — Someone who provides a job for others to pick up.
  • Member — Someone who picks up the job, really.
Membership:
The most straightforward way to join is simply to stumble upon the application while browsing. It is not unheard of that members bring along third parties on their runs in order to hedge their bets and make sure they succeed, in which case an invitation to the organization is always offered by the Hexmaster on hand-in of the assignment. The person who then invited the new member becomes their sponsor, and any ill-will against the organization will reflect twice as bad upon the one who brought them in.

However, if membership is sought by applying after stumbling upon the application, a member has to pass a few supervised jobs to ensure that they are trustworthy. After all, there is a great deal of unwanted vigilante types out there who often get the wrong idea of what the Hex is all about.

Influence:
The Hex itself is not in a position to hold any sort of influence. It hosts postings for jobs, and it takes the privacy of its clients very seriously. The only real influence they would have is who would be able to use their services or not.

Climate:
Competitive. The galaxy is a big place and the jobs are sometimes scarce. The amount of competition depends entirely on the nature of the job. Most legal work has a somewhat experienced-based selection whereas the illegal ones are very open which brings about a hazard in the terms of competition being out to steal not only your job but also your life, if they are so inclined.

Reputation:
In the eyes of the public The Hex doesn’t really exist, but for those who are aware of it speaks of it mostly as if it was a criminal network. Those involved however just see it as another job market for any and all people who are able to find them.

Rules:
  1. All jobs are open and free for all unless it has been stated otherwise.
  2. Members may attack other members as long as the cause is justified by the job.
  3. No crimes are to be committed within the confines of Hex-related safehouses or venues.
  4. Upon committing criminal acts within Hex-related safehouses, an open bounty will be placed on the perpetrating member and their death will be swift.
  5. You don’t talk about The Hex.
  6. Never ever cut a deal with a hutt.
Goals:
In the end the goal of the Hex is to provide people with work. This can range from working security, doing simple courier missions, to outright heists, robberies and hits. It is the hopes of the Hexmaster that one day all odd jobs, both legal and illegal, will use their organization as the middle man, but for the time being they are quite content with simply letting their members add postings and letting word of the Hex spread to those that would benefit from its membership.

MEMBERS
  • A great many NPCs
  • Amea Virou — Regular Member
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

GSNFQo6.png
The Hex was an idea born out of a simple question. What if we let people find jobs that nobody else wanted to do under the guise of anonymity? The process of setting it up was long and somewhat slow, but with time it would grow from a small forum to a full on application of its own in which members could post and accept jobs as well as discuss what they had learned during different jobs.

The organization’s owner, the Hexmaster, gets a ten-percent cut out of all the transactions that take place between fixers and members yet nobody knows who this individual is. Rumors circulate and are often posted to the discussion forums about it, but the Hexmaster rarely provides any other response than “Amongst other things.” As a result it is rumored that the Hexmaster might not just be a single person but a whole group overlooking the operation which given the size and scope of it all wouldn’t be impossible.

The site has been running for around two decades at this point and shows no sign of stopping. If anything it still seems to grow bigger by the day, and the jobs all the same. Some are small such a working security, and others are a bit more out there such as hits on public figures. These jobs are of course sorted accordingly, and members who only wish one or the other has the option to opt-in to either.

Legal jobs tend to be more popular but less open whereas criminal jobs are as lawless as the acts detailed within the job brief.
