OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: A really nice artificial hand.
  • Image Source: Andor Kollar (synthflesh version), Vladislav Kudrya (naked metal version)
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: iBorg
  • Affiliation: Select customers
  • Model: The Hex Grip, from iBorg
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Semi-unique
  • Material: Durasteel, synthflesh (optional)

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Prosthetic hand
  • Size: Small
  • Weight: Light
  • Ammunition Type: Trihexalon vapor
  • Ammunition Capacity: Very Small
  • Effective Range: Personal
  • Rate of Fire: Average
  • Stopping Power: Extreme (against biomass), None (against other substances, unless reacting with biomass)
  • Recoil: Low

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Fires a jet of high-pressure trihexalon vapor.
  • Projects a disc-shaped (1m radius), low-power shield when firing, to prevent blowback.

STRENGTHS
  • Burns or disintegrates biomass (e.g. targets without armor) in a violent chemical reaction comparable to green fire. Outstandingly useful against swarms.
  • Trihexalon vapor can linger on surfaces and will not activate until it contacts significant biomass (e.g. an animal).
  • The hand offers high dexterity and an excellent sense of touch.
  • Trihexalon is vanishingly rare; it's unlikely that scanners would register it as what it is.
  • Shields owner from blowback.

WEAKNESSES
  • Short range.
  • Very low ammunition capacity (3 to 5 shots).
  • Vapor vulnerable to blowback (i.e. wind, Force push, incautious use at point-blank range). Blowback shield won't stop weapons fire or thrown rocks, just stray vapor. Vapor can get around the edge of the shield.
  • Trihexalon is basically useless against non-biological armor, droids, energy shields, space suits, and walls (unless it touches biomass and lights up, in which case it can scorch or melt inorganic substances).
  • Be careful around wooden surfaces.
  • Trihexalon is staggeringly illegal in most civilized systems, affecting everything from the odds of sparking a manhunt (high) to the odds of finding a reload at any price (almost nil).
  • Will shut down and reboot (~30 seconds) if exposed to EMP/ion weapons.

DESCRIPTION
Available in either synthflesh or naked metal, this high-quality prosthesis contains an unusually lethal surprise: it can spray a thin, barely-visible jet of high-pressure trihexalon vapor that immolates biomass. The vapor jet port is located between the first and second knuckle and is compatible with most types of armor, with minimal fuss. The shield projector is adjacent.
