Intent: To make a magical Focus for Sage Bane to wield more effective and powerful illusions
Development Thread: If needed
Manufacturer: Sage Bane
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Personal
Modularity: None
Production: Unique
Material: India ink on Manax wood

Description:
The Hated Hand is a simple tool for an magic user to concentrate dark sided energy used in illusionary spells in order to increase the effects and believability of the illusions on his or her victims. The focus is the size of an average male human hand, made of polished wood, painted with india ink and imbued with dark sided Sith magic.

The focus is alchemized, meaning that it is invulnerable to wear and tear, ordinary damage, fire, and lightsaber damage. The focus can be harmed by other Force powers. The Hated Hand is not an omnipotent device. In order to use it, the illusionist must hold it in both hands. Therefore, it possesses the same weaknesses as any two-handed weapon would. The magic is released as the illusionist bends each finger in subsequent order, starting with the pinky finger and ending with the thumb, to eventually force the hand into a fist. The more fingers bent, the powerful the illusions become, but the process of bending the fingers takes time. Each finger, takes a few minutes to bend, and must be bent subsequently and in a certain order. If the fingers are bent out of order, the Focus will not work. If the focus is disengaged from the hands of its maker, the power instantly becomes inactive and the illusions themselves are also broken.

When wielding the Hated Hand, the user is also vulnerable to any types of attacks that affect concentration. Once the illusions are broken, the process of bending fingers must begin all over again.

Given an allowances by his Master, Matsu Xiangu, Sage discovered the recipe for creating the focus by studying magical artisanship in Darth Carach’s libraries. He procured the materials and fashioned it in a woodshop provided by the One Sith. The Hated Hand is bound to Sage Bane's Force signature, and no one else may use it.

  • I am going to need a dev thread of 10-15 posts for an alchemical item that is to be lightsaber / Force resistant.

  • What about this is modular?

  • If this is a Sith alchemy focus specifically for Sage to use to augment his illusion magic I would ask that this be made Unique.

I've been told by others who have created similar things that Lightsaber resistance is a canon effect of alchemization. The Hand is not meant to be a shield against lightsabers. The alchemization is meant only to protect the item itself. Multiple alchemical submissions with these canon effects have been approved without development threads.

I'll do one if I have to, but I just wanted to point this out.

If you remove the implication that this is immune to Force effects I will approve it without a development thread. I did however discuss this amongst the factory judges and while I acknowledge that the canon effects of alchemy are for the purpose of making items lightsaber resistant, I can't in good faith pass this freely while being impervious to effects of the Force.

I removed the Force resistance from the focus and added that the device can be harmed by other Force powers. I feel this is probably what you're looking for.

Thank you, and let me know if it needs further edits!
