GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Holocron Name: Grimoire of Bogan
  • Alignment: Dark Side
  • Origin: The exact origins regarding the Grimoire of Bogan are not known to modern times. Speculation runs rampant among those few who know of the books existence, with some claiming it to be the creation of the first Dark Jedi that fled from Tython. Others believe that it was created by the exiled Sith Emperor during his self imposed exile from his people. A select few believe, however, that the Grimoire of Bogan does not have a maker from the realm of real space. A few radicals believe that the Grimoire was forged by the very Dark Side itself, crafted by the will of Bogan into form for his most devoted followers. The exact truth may not be known, but the importance and mystery of the Grimoire inspire new theories every day.
  • Affiliation: Darth Megarea
  • Gatekeeper: The Grimoire of Bogan are protected from those desiring their power by beings known only as the Hathril Sentinels. These mighty guardians are spoken of within the Grimoire, but most wielders of the Grimoire will never see the Hathril Sentinels. Their appearance is only brought when a being, deemed unworthy by the Grimoire, attempts to take it into their possession. At that moment, a Hathril Sentinel will materialize, and defend the Grimoire from the unworthy. To date, no records of what the Hathril Sentinels look like remain, as no living witness has survived their appearance.
  • Description:
    • The Grimoire of Bogan is an ancient tome of Dark Side power and knowledge. An eight centimeter thick book, a ghostly green light floats around the Grimoire at all times, warm to the touch. The covers of the book are a rich blue, with brass details and chains linking to a skull place on the cover. Green text that seems to constantly shift, change language, and at times ever disappear lines the corners of the cover, and the center around the skull.
    • The purpose of the Grimoire of Bogan is to contain ancient Dark Side knowledge, and serve as a source of power for whoever holds the item in their possession. Within the pages of the Grimoire, if the reader can hold on to their sanity long enough to decipher the ever changing words and pages, are secrets of the Dark Side that have been lost. The Book of Ordered Chaos focuses on aspects of direct power, control, and the growth of ones abilities to rule over others with Dark Side alignments. The holder of this Grimoire will find their strength increased greatly, their mental abilities honed to a knifes edge, and their control over the Dark Side enhanced beyond their personal capabilities. The Grimoire of Bogan serves as a funnel, allowing the owner to channel this increased power without overt risk to their person.
DEFENSES
  • Accessibility: To access the secrets of the Grimoire of Bogan, one must simply open the book itself and begin to read. The ability to understand, what is within, however, is the true limiter.
    • The text within is ever changing, and to the normal observer hundreds of different languages pass across the pages every minute. To read the Grimoire as it is would be impossible. The only way to truly understand the Grimoire is to read using the Force. One must focus their mind through the Force, and allow the book's knowledge to flow through their mind. Doing this is a highly dangerous prospect, as the untapped knowledge and power within the Grimoire can drive the unprepared mind insane. Great preparation must be taken to shield the mind, while still allowing the knowledge to be learned.
    • To use the Grimoire as a source of power, allowing the owner to use greater Dark Side abilities than beyond their natural ability, one must similarly open their mind to the Grimoire. Rather than taking in the knowledge of the Grimoire, however, the owner will tap in to the Dark Side within the Grimoire itself, and use it as a well of power to fuel and enhance their own abilities.
  • Security:
    • The Grimoire have the ability to move from one location to another at their choosing. In most instances, they do this when their current chosen owner passes, and they must find the next host for their knowledge and power. This ability can be used to prevent their capture from hostile threats, and survive potentially cataclysmic destruction around them. This is the simplest of their defense measures, though also serves as a useful function. The true owner of the Grimoire at the time can summon the Grimoire to their person from great distance with this ability.
    • The Hathril Sentinels are dangerous beings of unknown appearance, strength, and ability. Whether they exist within the Grimoire itself, waiting to be summoned from its pages, or if they exist in the Netherworld and possess the ability to enter our realm on command through the Grimoire, is unknown. Should the Grimoire come under threat, and its shifting ability is unable to be used, or an unworthy being seeks to take the Grimoire into their possession, the Hathril Sentinel will appear, and will not rest until either the enemy is slain, or the Hathril Sentinel is defeated. To date, the latter has yet to happen.
    • The final security within the Grimoire affects the current owner of the Grimoire. Should their mind become too weak, or their ability and purpose change from that which led the Grimoire to choosing them, it can drive the current owner to insanity. The text within, never easy to understand, will change beyond comprehension, and each reading through the Force will drive the owner further into insanity. It will shatter the mind of the owner that has fallen from its graces, and only when they are truly a broken husk of what they once were, will the Grimoire leave to find a new owner.
