Strengths:
  • Range- The Greeter is a gauss sniper rifle. This means that it is able to hit opponents from across the battlefield without much trouble. The entire design was built around this focus on distance shooting as well between a built in scope, shooting stand, and a system allowing it to interface with a shooter's HUD. This combination allows for it perform its long range sniping actions without the need of a spotter and further boosts its effectiveness from a distance.
  • Gauss- The Greeter is a gauss sniper rifle, which gives it some hefty advantages over other sniper rifles. By launching its rounds using electromagnetism, the shots both pack more punch behind them than a regular sniper round would and produces less sound while doing so. The stopping power of the weapon is so powerful due to it being a gauss weapon in fact that it is able to punch through most vehicle armor as well as most personnel armor.
  • Custom- The Greeter is a weapon built around its owner Avia Wren. This includes it being designed for right handed shooting and coming with a bio lock feature. No one else is able to fire the weapon other than her, which also includes its remote firing feature. This feature allows it to be shot remotely using voice commands so long as the weapon is hooked up to their HUD and within a 10 meter radius of the weapon. It can only be set to that mode after she has unlocked it and using her own voice command.
Weaknesses:
  • Heavy- The Greeter is a weapon with a lot of advantages, but being light isn't one of them. The weapon being made from beskar is bad enough on a normal weapon, but with the focus being so heavily on long range fighting it is larger than normal. This combination of beskar and being large is why it is so heavy and why it is so unwieldy. It can not be used with any sort of effectiveness while moving as the barrel would be too hard to hold up straight. Because of this is requires the user to take a shooting stance that distributes the weight of the weapon more evenly and away from the user. The only stance that is absolutely sure to be effective for this weapon is from a laid position.
  • Kickback- The Greeter is a powerful weapon with a lot of stopping power, but it pays for it with equal levels of kickback. While measures were taken to allow the gun to absorb some of the recoil, it still generates a lot of energy being directed back at the user when fired. If used without some form of protection, the weapon could dislocate a shoulder if fired 2-3 times in succession. Even with protection from the kickback it still dislocate a shoulder if its entire clip is fired off as quickly as possible. This issue of kickback is another reason why it can not be used while moving. Even if the user can hold the barrel up to shoot, the recoil will knock them flat on their back with a single shot. So for this reason just like the weight, a stationary shooting position must be taken to use it effectively. This kickback also means the weapon needs to be pressed up against something that can handle its recoil if it is in remote shooting mode when it fires or the weapon will shoot off erratically in a random direction.
  • Reloading- The Greeter is not a weapon that can be reloaded quickly even with practice. Each clip only holds 6 rounds, so it can only take 6 shots before needing to be replaced. This replacement takes some time as the old clip must be removed first. Another issue with the reloading is that it requires a lot of power for the weapon to take a shot. Every power cell can only handle 6 shots before they are depleted and must be replaced like the clip or the weapon is nothing more than a giant paper weight. Because of this, whenever the weapon is being reloaded 2 items must be replaced completely before it can begin firing again slowing the whole process down. Another issue with the rounds is that because it is a gauss rifle it can not use any other kind of ammo but gauss rounds. These rounds are rare on the battlefield and as such the user is often limited on how many shots they have to what they bring with them.
  • Close up- The Greeter can not handle close up engagements. The heavy weight, the large size, the very high recoil, and the very slow reloading all come together to ensure this fact. The user will have 1 maybe 2 shots if they are extremely lucky to hit their target up close before they either abandon the weapon or die. While measures can be taken to limit some of the other issues, this one will always remain a problem regardless.
DESCRIPTION
WESTAR has a long history of making weapons for Mandalorians dating back for over a thousand years. It came as no surprise then that Avia Wren brought the request for a custom weapon to them. She wanted a gauss sniper rifle to use on the field of battle, and the designers got right to work on providing it for her. After going through a few different ideas and a few prototypes they ended up with the Greeter.

The Greeter in its basic design is rather simple. It is a gauss rifle with a longer barrel to allow for more coils which meant more power and range behind each shot. This barrel was made out of silicar so that it could withstand both the pressure being exerted on the entire barrel and keep any electricity generated from electrocuting the user. The coils and other components needed for the weapon are inside of this silicar barrel with beskar around the outside of the silicar to provide it protection from sources of damage that would otherwise harm it. Beskar was also used to provide additional weight to the weapon to help deal with the recoil issue when the weapon was being shot, although it still contains high levels of kickback still. Plastoid was added over the beskar in all of the areas that would commonly be handled by the user to provide protection from the metal heating up and comfort of touch. The stock was crafted by combining a silicar base with a beskar casing to absorb some of the kickback from the weapon being fired. Shocks were also added into the butt end as well, but this just took the kickback from being overwhelming to manageable with some training. With that done the base of the weapon was finished up.

Going from the base, electronic components were added into the rifle to allow for a variety of functions. The first function was that the rifle could keep track of the powercell and clip volumes by interfacing with the HUD of a helmet. This allows the user to know how long they have until they need to reload. A biolock was also added onto the trigger and grip of the gun. This allows it to keep anyone from using the weapon other than Avia Wren. This biolock also works with a remote firing feature added to the rifle when it is hooked up to a HUD system as well. The biolock must be unlocked first then the mode can be activated, which allows for the user to fire the weapon remotely within a 10 meter radius of it. The last features added on were a stand to the underside of the barrel and an advanced scope to the top of it for assistance in shooting across long distances.

When Avia Wren did not pick up her custom weapon, WESTAR went looking for her. They found no trace of her. It was as if she never existed. The payment had already been made, so the weapon sat around collecting dust. They planned to auction it off to make room in their storehouse, but then a young Mandalorian showed interest in it after seeing it. So they sold it Tom Taff and watched him leave with it.
