The Great Outdoors (Sio/Galina)

Siobhan sighed slightly. Yazgids were very dangerous! However, she looked sad when she saw what had happened to its mother and siblings. "Poor things. The babies were probably taken to be used as war beasts," she said.

Then Galina just had to adopt it! Part of Siobhan felt inclined to say no...but she did not have the heart for it. So she patted her daughter on the shoulder. "If your Mum is ok with it...then yes. But you have to follow our instructions, take responsibility for it and recognise that though it's absolutely adorable now, when it grows up it could easily bite your hand off."

Tegaea felt the burden be passed to her. Like all children ever, Galina had forced her parents to engage in a responsibility juggle.
“Yes, but Galina, I want you to talk with your auntie Coryth and get from her help on how to control and feed this creature. It’s a big burden. One day this will be as big as you with sharp teeth and terrible claws – you need to know that it won’t be a baby forever.”

The little Yazgid let out a long chirping whine and flopped over onto the sand.
“If we’re going to keep it we’ll need to feed it. Do we have anything it can eat?”

Of course Galina just had to adopt it! What would life be without dangerous beasts as pets? Certainly not a very interesting one, Galina thought to herself. She took a cautious step forward, not wanting to scare the poor thing away.

The wildling nodded, "Yes, mummy. I can do that. I just ... I don't want to let the poor thing suffer and die here all alone." Her attention then turned to Tegaea, with pleading eyes. She wanted the little Yazgid, without a doubt. After her mum finished speaking, she nodded again looking a little more serious about the situation, rather than like a girl that happened to be drawn in by what looked an adorable baby. "I understand, and I will talk to her. And I know that it will grow up."

"I will take care of it, I promise." Totally the words of every kid ever that wanted a pet.

It looked so weak and helpless as it flopped onto the sands, and Galina inched closer. Though she did pause, thinking food in hand might help interest the youngster in coming along with them. "Didn't we bring some meats with us to cook over the fire? Perhaps, we can share with it?" At least that was her hope.

Siobhan patted her daughter on the shoulder understandingly. "Of course, dear. I'll get some for her." In all likelihood Siobhan was unable to tell which gender the lizard had, but she had arbitrarily decided that it was a girl until she was proved wrong.

So she quickly headed back to the camp and after rummaging a bit, found their meat. She shaved some of the bits off that could be spared and then returned the rest to the cooler and headed back to Galina and her wife. "There you go, dear. Small bits. Otherwise it may choke."

Tegaea meanwhile had made herself useful by getting some water in a bowl. She knew the lizards drank a little, but likely the Yazgid would prefer the meat.

She hung back, placing the water in a small hollow so it was accessible. She then watched to see how Galina would go. Hopefully it’d find the meat more interesting than her fingers!

Galina waited patiently for Siobhan to return with the scraps for the poor little thing. "Thanks, mummy." She said softly as she took the meat in hand without hesitation.

Now it was time for the scary part, at least for her mothers. To her, this was just an adorably dangerous pet. With her eyes on the little creature she finally stepped forward. Taking a small piece, she reached out and offered it to the Yazgid baby. She too was hoping it found the meat far more interesting than any part of her body. After all, becoming lunch herself didn't sound very fun. Good thing she had her force enhanced reflexes, so she could avoid being bitten or losing a finger. A part of her also hoped it was weak enough, tired enough that it would most certainly go for the meat over anything else.

Galina watched carefully as it moved for the meat, withdrawing her hand quickly as it took it from her. "She needs a name." The redhead said almost absentmindedly, as she readied the next small piece for it.

Siobhan watched her daughter intently. As cute as the little lizard was, she really hoped it would not try to eat her daughter's fingers! She breathed in when Galina withdrew her hand and the Yazgid moved towards the meat. Right, it needed a name. Had they decided it was female? How could you tell with lizards? Eh, whatever, Siobhan had decided so. "Let's call her...Lacy. That's a nice name," she suggested. The cutesy name was totally appropriate for something that when fully grown could literally bite your head off.

Tegaea had been about to suggest ‘Gnasher’ because it sounded pretty appropriate! However, she felt that would not go down as well.

“Lacy sounds good!”

The now indelibly named Lacy didn’t seem to notice the dubbing, and consumed the meat hungrily, looking up when she had finished expectantly.

“Why do I suspect that in a couple of years our daughter is going to be riding a dinosaur around?” she asked Siobhan with a sigh.

"Lacy, I like it." Galina said as she offered up another piece of meat to the little Yazgid. Also this writer was totally amused by the name Chomper, but that seemed too obvious. Lacy was bound to get far more amusing reactions from others.

"Thata girl, Lacy." She said sweetly.

"Because she will be." The redhead replied, hearing what Tegaea had said of her. "I do love animals after all. And it could be far worse. There are many creatures out there more dangerous than a Yazgid." As she handed over the last piece of meat to the little creature, she wondered what the plan was now. "Should we perhaps start on dinner? Or maybe go for a swim?" She asked glancing to the large pool of water in the middle of the oasis. While the Yazgid chowed down on the last piece of meat, Galina reached out to stroke it's back. "I do want to make sure she's watched over."

"Yes, there are far more dangerous creatures...which I'm absolutely drawing the line on. No baby krayt dragons or Lotek'ks," Siobhan declared firmly, then sighed and looked at Tegs. "Hmm. Now that I've said I guess it's only a matter of time before she comes home with Baby Cthulhu cradled in her arms." One might add that technically Sio did have some of Cthulhu's blood stored away...

At Galina's questions she knitted her brows together. "Well, I'm easy. Wouldn't mind going for a swim. Can't little Lacy unsupervised though."

[member="Galina Kerrigan-Alcori"] [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

“Oh yes, there’s many which are more dangerous…but there’s a lot more which are less dangerous!” she said with a sigh.

Still, it seemed like Siobhan and Galina wanted to go swimming. “I’ll go in when you’re done,” Tegaea said. She looked down at Lacy. It was very cute, but it still had many sharp teeth.

However, to show willing, Tegaea found a disturbingly large dung beetle and offered it to Lacy. At first it gave her a bemused look, then ate the insect.
“There we go, sweetie. I guess you’re not so bad.”
However, she’d put her hand down and Lacy clearly thought the wriggling things were more insects and snapped at her fingers. Fortunately Tegaea moved aside.
“Where is Galina…” she muttered.

"But Krayt dragons are cute, Mummy." She just had to protest. After all she did love dragons. Who didn't?! "Though, Lotek'ks are just ugly and mean." So Galina, DID have a line that she drew with dangerous creatures. Though for everyone else, it might be hard to see where Galina had placed that line.

"Are you sure Mum?" She asked and glanced down to the little Yazgid. However, seeing Tegaea head after the large beetle, settled her mind. Her mum was looking after her little one, and that was good enough for her. So the redhead, headed back to the tent to grab her swimsuit and quickly changed. She only waited on her mummy for a moment before starting down to the waters. Hopefully Tegaea could manage their new pet without her for a few minutes. After all such a fairskinned beauty, couldn't last too long swimming. Galina was bound to get a sunburn and seek shade soon enough.

"I'm gonna get you a cute, totally harmless hamster and you'll like it," Siobhan insisted firmly. Ah, well, at least her daughter didn't want Baby Cthulhu! Siobhan glanced over to Tegaea, feeling a bit bad about her being left out. However, decision had been made, so while Tegs fed Lacy a large beetle, Siobhan likewise headed to the tent and got changed.

Soon afterwards she emerged, dressed in a very brief swimsuit. "Go ahead, sweetie. I'll be with you in a moment," she said to Galina before walking over to Tegaea. "Bad Lacy, those aren't to eat," she said sternly when the lizard tried to take a bite at Tegaea's fingers, but thankfully her wife was ok. Closing the distance, she ran her hand over the redhead's back. "Hey, you ok, wifey? I'm very happy about how you bonding with Galina. Really warms my heart."

Tegaea had been watching her daughter swim in the oasis, smiling slightly. Siobhan’s words somewhat jolted her back to the present?
“Yes, I’m very happy to, Sio. I felt for too long that she was your project, your daughter. Now I see that she’s a girl who deserves all my love and as much attention as I can give her. I think although it’s not been painless, we’ve come to the right conclusions.”
Smiling, she gave Siobhan a little kiss. “Now, go have your swim. I’ll be here,” she promised.

Lacy had curled up in the sun, seemingly full for now.

"A hamster is just food for Lacy, so yes... I'd like it." Galina said with a smirk before heading off into the crystal blue waters. She just had to tease her mother. That was half the fun.

The water was just the thing the redhead needed. Something about water, being immersed in it always felt like home to her. She could only assume it was the familiarity of her element, but either way it certainly made her happy and content. Especially when she was in such a relaxing environment.

A very bright smile appeared on Sio's face. These were exactly the words she'd wanted to hear from Tegs for a long time! So it produced all sorts of mushy feelings. "I'm very glad to hear this, darling. She's our daughter. Not just yours, not just mine, ours," she said happily. Giving her wife a kiss and with a rather silly grin on her face, she headed off to the crystal blue waters, where her trollish daughter was already happily swimming.

Siobhan somehow attracted trolls, like moths to a flame. Minions, spouse, daughters, they all seemed to troll her in amusing ways.

Tegaea watched them swim and play and settled back to read. Lacy was still dozing, dreaming of hamsters.
It was a good day, it had been so long since she’d just sat and relaxed.

Galina glanced back to the shores to see her mother nearing the water's edge. Happy as can be the redhead dove beneath the crystal blue waters, and headed for Siobhan. The thought did cross her mind to try and surprise Sio. But her mother did have the Force and that made things more difficult. It was still worth a try as she remained beneath the water's surface.

While Tegaea read and Lacy dreamed of filling her belly with hamsters, Siobhan had headed into the water. She did not have the same familiarity for the element as her daughter, but she still relished the feeling when the crystal blue water kissed her skin and suffused her being. While she did have the Force, she was strangely oblivious to Galina's intent.

Maybe she was simply too distracted by the fuzzy feelings she was having and so she dove through the lake. Now where was Galina?

[member="Galina Kerrigan-Alcori"] [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"]

From the shore Tegaea saw Siobhan dive in, and saw Galina diving under too. Presumably the two would have an aquatic meeting.
Getting up quietly she slipped off her shoes and went to sit on a rock by the water so she could dangle her feet in whilst she waited.
Lacy slept on.
