Private The Grand Prize

The Grand Prize

Mos Eisley was having it's annual pod race, and as usually there was a massive credit prize, along with the famous Boonta Cup. Together, the estimated winnings were around one hundred thousand credits. Though the pod racers would never receive this prize, as Vizjaw's gang planned to rob the transport delivering the prize money. The jawa crime lord wore his beskar armor beneath his duster, and hid behind a metal crate in the streets of Mos Esiley. Five other jawa enforcers hid behind various objects, all armed with cheap blaster rifles. The crew was preparing a proper ambush, and few would manage to spot them.

Before long, an armored land speeder would begin a slow trudge down the main road of the town. Seeing that the time for action was now, Viz would jump to the top of the crate he previously took cover behind. The jawa would raise his right vambracer toward the incoming vehicle, and a wrist rocket would launch itself toward the show-moving land speeder. Sure, it was built to withstand blaster fire, but a rocket to it's windshield?

The resulting explosion would cause massive damage to the front of the vehicle. It was stopped directly in it's tracks. The other jawa thugs would reveal themselves and immediately start blasting at the damaged craft. Several security guards would jump from the back of the speeder and begin returning fire, but they would be hard-pressed to hit small jawa's behind cover. Of course, the open fire fight would quickly gain the attention of the town guard. The jawas would find themselves outnumbered, if they didn't do something cunning soon... <"Utinni!">

Another happy haul. Civilian transports were such easy target. They took the transport itself of course. And it's occupants. No matter how hard someone tried, Tatooine was a good place for slave trade. Even if people wanted to try and hold it, it was far too big and empty to be completely monitored. And Sab has his armada split up, and spread out their timesheet to ensure they all arrived seperately. However, he and Illah'Josa the real captain of their not so modest armada, had gone one of their gunships along with a good bit of crew to see if there was anything else to do while the other ships sold the transport and its passengers/belongings. Though they had fighters at the ready for defensive measures if need be.

That was the right choice it seemed. Illah and Sab had noticed an ambush set by Jawas, of all things, on their flyover the desert. While they strongly considered just trying to rock them all from above with the gunship, that ran too many risks. For one, that level of firepower would draw a great deal of attention. For two, it could remove any chance of getting loot out of this.

But an opportunity arose. The Jawa's were beginning to be outnumbered with the twon guard coming. If the town thought it would be a ship fight, they'd for sure call for aid if they had any. But if only one ship came in, they might not be so hasty or assume they could handle it. And Illah and Sab were confident they could work with the jawa's on this. They landed nearby and Illah leaned out the side of the Albotross to shout to the Jawa's, "Give us a cut and we help!" She didn't even wait for them to answer before some of the goons started coming out and firing back at the towns guard, and the vehicle bay began to open to reveal the 4 speeders ready to dart out and help keep the enemy busy

Just in case she repeated the statement in huttese, ["Lee chalya ten wa hhonoo an jeejee yauma"] Sab'gisa hopped off her shoulder, scurrying across the ground and grabbing a blaster pistol from one of the pirates that he held like a rifle to go join with the Jawa's group just to add some firepower. This was not entirely unusual for a Kowakian, already deemed semi-sentient. And sometimes on the verge of sapience. The ability to fight and operate weapons was actually rather normal for them, even some level of communication. Sab of course was not a Kowakian. But most people didn't know that. His decision was based on the fact that perhaps a similarly sized individual, so quickly coming to join them, would push them to accept their aid. Though, even Jawa's were at least a little taller than he was.

Even with their help, there was no assurance of victory. They could just ask the jawa's to hop aboard the ship, and due to their recent use, the gunship wasn't completely full on ammo and missiles. It's shields and fuel should hold up, but they weren't going to push their luck with things.

Viz and the other jawas didn't expect to be getting any help, but it was incredibly well-timed. Frankly, he was surprised that a pirate would be willing to worn in cooperation with a group of jawas. Most saw them as vermin, a perception Twisted Sand sought to change. The crime boss wouldn't hesitate to answer the offer with, <"Deal! Fifty-fifty!"> Before he would raise his blaster rifle from above the cover, and then send out several shots toward the armored speeder's guards.

Thanks to the efforts of the pirates, what guards the town had were promptly distracted, but they would need to act quickly. Two of the jawas which were taking cover on a roof would manage to actually gun down the pair of transport guards. The vehicle was now abandoned and undefended. However, the town's security forces were approaching from behind. Mostly humans and gamorreans. The jawas would hop to the other side of the metal crates they were previously taking cover behind, narrowly avoiding blaster fire.

It was in these moments that Viz would spot an armed Kowakan Lizard monkey wielding a blaster!? What a bazar sight. <"Utinni! Lets loot the speeder while we can. If we cause too much of a scene, mandalorians will be here soon!">

Sab'Gisa Sab'Gisa

Illah smiled and nodded to him as she began shouting orders and rushing back inside the ship to start relaying orders through their comms, Sab had one dangling around his back that they'd be able to hear. The pirates instantly went into order, four pirates hopping on their speeders and splitting up, quickly outpacing the town guard and starting to go after them with quick drive by's from their rear forcing them to either turn to even try and hit the very fast moving targets taking pot shots at them, or hope they were lucky enough to not get shot by them.

Meanwhile the rest of the pirates continued to lay down fire on the townsguard. They weren't some elite marksmans, but they were certainly good enough to pose a threat with their rifles, pistols, or more heavy weapons that a few of them were using. Sab raised the blaster above his head repeating in a voice remarkably similar to Viz's if a bit higher and faster, <"Loot 'em! Blast 'em!> he screeched before scurrying across the ground very quickly, zigzagging as he began firing with the blaster pistol intermittently, a somewhat difficult task. I really need to make myself a more appropriately sized weapon. He thought with frustration before he leapt onto the speeder.

As he did that, the gunship lifted off the ground lurching over the group and blocking off the path of the path of the security forces and sending just two sets of blasts from its cannon turrets towards them to keep them at a distance. Another choice was that the many pirates there were aiming especially for any enemies that were carrying rocket launchers, heavy ion weapons, or other powerful things that might pose a threat to the ship. They didn't want to risk it going down with so many of them needing it to get out of there.

The jawa's eyes widened as he watched the lizard monkey fight. It was quite the spectacle to behold, especially with a flamethrower. Much of the town guard would begin taking cover themselves, all trying to avoid getting hit by the pirate/jawa alliance. In the chaos, there would be an opportunity to start looting the transport, one the jawas would start to capitalize on.

Two of the jawas who were posted on the roof earlier would repel down the side of the building with ropes. They would each run toward the back of the vehicle with fusion cutters, slowly cutting a hole through the metal. It would take them some time to get inside, but once they were in, a huge pile of credit chips would be seen.

Meanwhile, Viz would remark to Sab'Gisa <"Aye. You fight well there friend. Who are you folks anyhow?"> He would then duck, just as an enemy blaster bolt would fly over his head. The jawa would quickly lift his head back up, angrily returning several shots with his blaster rifle. The appearence of a pirate ship would surely draw some serious attention. If they wanted the credits, then they would all need to act fast... <"You two! How close are we to securing the prize money!?">

One of the jawa enforcers would respond from a distance, <"We're in boss! But there is a slight issue...."> The twisted sand enforcer would be looking at a logo printed on the side of the vehicle. It was labled "Bank of Tatooine". <"On the bright side, there are far more credits than expected boss!"> Viz would simply shake his head. No wonder there was so much security, they had hit the wrong armored transport!

Sab'Gisa Sab'Gisa

Sab continued his attempts at fighting back. Changing locations regularly and rapidly to ensure he'd never be easily caught and shot while Illah and the pirates kept the townsguard on the ropes along with the jawas. His eyes glittered at the credits. He might have been a man eating psychopath, but he was a greedy man easting psychopath.

He tilted his head as the Jawa spoke to him. He expected him to answer? Properly? Well...he could go along with that. <"We are Sab'Gisa!"> he said seemingly excitedly. Then pointed in the direction the Twi'lek woman was as she fired from the ship, <"and Illah'Josa."> He neglected to give the name of the group. For one, because they actually rarely used one. They were Illah's Crew and that was all that really mattered. Besides, he didn't want to seem too intelligent. A childlike intelligence he could get away with without raising too many eyebrows. So he couldn't speak quite normally.

The Kanyirkian monkey lizard had to refrain from wincing as he heard them say it was from the Bank of Tatooine. That was a bad way to get noticed. This was why they stuck to ships. They had to move fast though. He leapt up waving to some of the pirates, they were bigger than the jawas and could definitely carry more of the credits. Already bringing large bags with them to get it moving. "Obey Jawa. We want half." he ordered. He might have been effectively Illah's pet, but the plan was already made clear. And though to them he was rather unintelligent. His orders still held value. By giving the jawa command, he was able to refrain from having to explain anything in depth which would make him seem unusual, but still ensure that they were effectively handled.

Someday he believed he'd let go of that charade. Maybe even do it more often in private. But around this many people was not the time to reveal what he was.

Vizjaw Tanakt Vizjaw Tanakt

The pair of jawas who had cut through the armored transport would begin filling up bags with the highest value credit chips they could see. Some of the pirates would also arrive to start collecting the loot while seemingly more guards mobilized on the area. Thankfully, few of them actually counted on something like this happening. So far the job had been a steal...

Of course, no plan was perfect, and the guards seemed to have a trick up their sleeve. A very large armored man would turn the cornet with a repeating blaster. The weapon would begin firing a vast volley of shots towards both the pirates, and jawas who were behind cover. One of the jawa enforcers would even be gunned down by the attack! <"Tozu! No!"> Viz would shout in anger. <"Don't worry there friend. You will get your half.">

Attempting to slow down the advancing armored guard, Viz would raise his right arm towards the man and fire off several shots with his wrist blaster. They would impact the man, but didn't seem to be slowing him down.

Sab'Gisa Sab'Gisa

Kark it. This is going to cause problems. We could call in help. He glanced to Illah. He could tell she was thinking the same thing. They definitely could get a fighter here but if they did that they risked alerting the enemy to their whole fleet. No, they needed to operate on what was available here. He saw Vizjaw Tanakt Vizjaw Tanakt attempt to use his wrist blaster on him, but it seemed the armor was too dense.

He looked at Illah. She returned the look. A twitch of the lekku, a twirl of the tail. Silent discussions far too slight, short and complicated for people to see it as any more than natural movements or twitches from the action of combat. But it was enough. Her eye twitched, and finally they had an agreement in those few seconds of discussion.

Sab would handle this. He'd had his feast, his strength in the force was growing stronger and would continue to do so. He couldn't release some massive force push or bend this mans mind to his will...yet. But he could move, and he could move fast. The monkey lizard tossed the blaster pistol to a pirate and shot across the ground to Illah who threw him through the air closing the gap quickly as he pulled out his vibro-dagger. It wasn't a straight shot at the armored man, that was on purpose. The angle specifically would make it extremely difficult for him to hit.

And it was about to get harder. Sab didn't want to get involved this way, but if they didn't act fast, things were going to go south. No...no he liked getting involved this way. It just meant more risk to his position. He skittered to the mans armor, moving incredibly fast and jabbing with the vibroblade for anything that looked like an opening. Back of the knees, beneath the ankles, joints, at the waist, arm-pit, neck. Whatever. Even a graze with a vibro-blade could potentially be very destructive, that's why they were so useful over a standard blade. Monkey lizards were already not slow or stiff. And Sab was better than the Kowakians.

He didn't know if it'd work. He didn't know if he might get caught. Or if one of the townsguard was so accurate or lucky that they could hit him while he was doing this. It was a risk. But they needed to take care of legitimate threats quickly. And the only other option is to use the gunships ammo, which would mean it wasn't going to be there for if they needed it against vehicles or ships.

While the pirates and enforcers were caught up with the town guard's biggest gun, the crew that had been looting the armored speeder were just about done. Viz had no idea how many credits they managed to collect, but it looked like a lot more than a hundred thousand. The crew of Twisted Sand had arrived in two Sandrunners they had parked not far away. They had managed to fill two large brown bags worth of hard credits, and the pirates had likely done the same. It was time to get moving, and try to loose the heat.

<"Twisted Sand! Take your loot to the speeders, and get back home! I'll hold off the guard."> The jawas would all respond to their boss with swift nods, each starting to fall back toward the opposite end of the street. If they could continue to hold off the guards, the Viz could find his own way to escape. For now, he just needed to protect those credits...

Meanwhile, he would notice the lizard monkey fly through the air with a vibroblade, lunging directly toward the armored man with killer intent. It was a very fast attack, but surprisingly effective as the blade struck true. The armor had been pierced, and it's wearer would cough up blood. Vizjaw himself would continue giving covering fire, managing to gun down two other guards who were mobilizing on the scene. Thankfully, by the time this display was over, the enforcers would have reached their speeders. If they would manage to escape or not was yet to be seen.

Sab'Gisa Sab'Gisa

Illah smiled as she saw the all the credits that they'd gotten from helping. The temptation of trying to finish the job was very much there, but they weren't going to risk that. Sab had had success, the man wasn't fast or flexible enough to get Sab before he'd done his damage and immediately scurried off leaving him to whatever fate awaited him from the injuries he gifted him.

Illah gave a sharp whistle into the comms and the speeders began rushing back into the sip, as did many of the pirates except those with the best aim and most oppressive weapons to keep the guard off them as they were loading back up. He rushed past the Jawa, tossing a communicator to him. It was not immediately relevant. But if jawa's could pull off something like this, even if they needed help to do it, then they were worth making allies with. <"Friends"> He said before hopping onto Illah'Josa's shoulder as she hung outside the door of the ship and the pirates returned.

He communicated with her silently as was their way, a movement of her lekku by his hands and response in turn. She nodded to the jawa's,
"One last gift." she called out, as the ship lifted off it sent a barrage of blaster fire from its turrets into the townsguard. Carefully placed and reserved to cause the most chaos with the least amount of ammo wasted, each shot spaced out so that no individual guard could be safe but not so tightly they'd waste ammo on missing.

The ship would hover briefly around the Jawa's acting as a sort of guard to ensure they could actually get started. But she didn't have the fuel, or reason, to stick around once they got moving. It was not worth the risk. Their ship wasn't fast enough to simply high-tail it if things took too long, which meant they needed to leave immediately or risk having to deal with a much longer chase that they weren't equipped for. Sab hoped the jawa's would make it out. He wanted to see what a group like that could manage, they might have bit off more than they could chew, but their abilities were still there to him.

Vizjaw Tanakt Vizjaw Tanakt

The Twisted Sand crew would all manage to make it to the speeders, while the boss and pirate crew continued keeping the town guards distracted. The plan had been executed flawlessly, aside from the part where they hit the wrong target and then got assistance from a random pirate crew. Viz was actually planning to thank their leader for the assistance when he had the holocomm tossed to him. The jawa would catch it in his left hand before giving a surprised, <"Utinni. Friends. Can't have too many of those.">

He would then turn the sights of his blaster rifle toward what remained of the approaching guard, and would fire off several more shots. Most would miss, but it was enough to keep them at bay. Of course, he would then receive the final give, as a huge barrage of laser fire would decimate the ground forces of what remained. It was officially time to get out of there.

The jawa's jetpack would roar to life, shooting him into the air and heading for the outskirts of town. The device could take him a pretty far distance, but thankfully their mobile base wasn't too far away. The trick would be outrunning them in the massive fortress of a vehicle. The Twisted Sandcrawler was a slow-moving vessel, but even if the police forces of Mos Eisley had tanks, they would still be outgunned by the massive vessel. Regardless, he and his crew were safe for the moment, all thanks to their pirate friends...

(Exit thread here unless you had something else Sab'Gisa Sab'Gisa )

The pirate crews quickly set off, the Jawa's were at their vessel. Illah and Sab looked at each other, in agreement that if they had mismanaged their own vessel in this decision. There was no reason to try and keep protecting them anyway. Besides, they were probably safer in a crawler than a gunship that needed restocking anyway.

Someone had brought one of the townsguard on board and tied him up during the scuffle. Seemed he'd gotten a little too close. And hey, what was one more victim. They knew what they'd do with him of course. He needn't survive. The crew would be rewarded for their efforts here naturally. The credits shared, though Illah would get a higher portion naturally.

But the townsguard, his reward would be a swift death in service to the power of Sab. Giving strength to the man-eater so that one day he'd be more than just an intelligent monkey lizard acting as a pet. And then Illah and Sab could really make people tremble before them.

(Shorter than I'd expected but it was still fun. Seems a good ending I think. My own last post was short cause I couldn't think of much else but thought I should respond.)
