Below the heavy shuttle lush, green grass parted as the ship slowly came to a stop on the fields. Its engine soon came to a halt and sooner after a ramp lowered to the ground to reveal a boy dressed in casual clothing, his eyes gazing in wonder at the beautiful environment in front of him. The green grass, waterfalls, and other features reminded him fondly of Azbrian, which was equally as fascinating as the one they were standing on. Silas lightly rubbed his tired eyes and set foot on the soft ground, where both he and his master were alone other than the wildlife that roamed the environment around them.

Silas turned back to Kahlil with a sparkle in his eyes and smiled proudly "This place is amazing master, I wish I knew about this place sooner" he remarked as his fellow companion walked down the ramp to join him. Turning his head to a calm and crystal clear pond next to their ship he wandered over and knelt down on the bank, his eyes curiously looking down to see a multitude of fish swimming around beneath the surface.

"This right here would be a perfect fishing spot, look at the size of them," he said gleefully, remembering the times his own father would take him out fishing during the sunny and perfect days of Azbrian. He'd need to note down this place and return when the time was right, and possibly bring Master Kahlil if he was free.

"You done much fishing Master?"

"I figured you'd like it."

After hearing about his original home, it only made sense for Kahlil to bring him here. He was half tempted to bring Silas all the way to Azbrian itself, but, well. Despite being a Master, he still didn't understand some of the issues a Padawan might have with letting their attachments go. He had no qualms with leaving his own family behind.

But he was an exception, and a unique one at that.

"Can't say I have. The life of a Spacer doesn't really lend itself to fishing. It's one planet to the next. Sometimes though, I'd stop by a place like this. Always watched the locals fish and buy some from them."

Kahlil took a seat, humming as he glanced over the water. Then an idea hit him. He smiled, raising a hand. Closing his eyes. The water rippled for a moment, then moved. The fish floated up from the pond. No, not the fish. Spheres of water lifted, close enough for the fish to jump between, floating just above the surface.

Just for a moment, before they fell back down.

"Sides, I can always just do that."

"Oh really? there's never a time when you can always pick it up. I did it with my father it always used to help me wind down and be at one with the nature around me" he said thoughtfully with a smile, looking to Kahlil as he took a seat next to him close to the water. Watching him raise a hand above it his eyes wondered to the water rising before his very eyes, as well as a fish. Silas grinned and slowly shook his head. That was the cheating way of fishing, the proper was a piece of string to a stick and some bait.

"Oh, come on Master. That's just cheating!" he said with a small laugh, using the tip of his finger to flick some water at him "I think I'll need to show you one day, it will actually give you a good peace of mind" the padawan stated before getting to his and looking around himself at the eye catching environment around him.

"I sense there's more to this than showing me a beautiful planet master, what are we here for exactly?" he asked curiously with a tilt of his head.

"When your goal is to eat, there is no such thing as cheating." Kahlil nodded once, as if what he said was some kind of wisdom. And got splashed. He chuckled, smirking to Silas. "You're welcome to teach me whenever you'd like to. I'm sure fishing would be it's own lesson on patience alone." But, the Padawan was ever the observant one. Kahlil nodded, motioning for the boy to sit beside him.

"If you treat everything in life as a lesson, you will always end up learning something new. I've told you that I was quite the sorcerer as a Sith, yes? Someone recently told both of us that the Dark and Light are just mirrors of the same thing. So.. What if sorcery could be done through the light?"

Silas Westgard Silas Westgard

"I understand Master, but that is for survival. The fishing I'm on about is the hobby side where you simply catch them and let them go" he said with a slight smile and looked over at him "Fishing is something that requires and teaches you to be patient at the same time. In ways, it helps you to learn that good things come over time"

With that, he nodded in reassurance. It certainly helped him to be calm and assured during stressful situations as well as think things over. In ways it was a getaway for him.

"Sorcery for the light side? that's something I don't hear about that a lot" he said with a short silence, curious as to what Kahlil was thinking here "I have yet to see a pure light user even use such a power. Is it even possible for people with a... non darkside background to learn such a thing?"

Catch and.. Release?

Kahlil raised a brow as high as he could, staring at Silas. A lesson in patience was always a good thing, but catching and releasing fish when.. He let out a sigh and chuckled. No, it made sense in a way. It just wasn't something he'd ever learned in his life. But! Better to focus on the other half of the conversation. The Master raised a hand, slowly drawing in the air.

Small runes traced through the sky. Flickering in the Light as a sheen of gold.

"I don't see why they couldn't, but I imagine they'd just think it's a waste of time. Sorcery involves so much preparation. The right sequence of runes, the right mindset. The Force works off of belief, you know. That's why it's so difficult to train someone older how to use the Force. How things work are already set into the mind of an adult. The same can be said for any belief or usage of the Force. Look at Nightsisters and their complex spellcraft.

For me, though, I lived my life with these runes. I understand them better than I understood myself then. Perhaps even now. I can't promise it'll be useful to you, but I'd love to teach you how they work. At least if you come across a Sith who uses them you'll understand enough on how their power works to counter act it all."

The idea of old fashioned fishing seemed to be a marvel for Kahlil, and far different from what he was used to. One day he'd have to show him the importance of it. But right now, he needed to listen to the wise words he was sharing about sorcery. Silas looked at the pretty gold runes above and slowly looked back at his master with wonder, it sure was something unique and different from what the Jedi normally taught him during his training.

"Even if I don't master it, the knowledge alone could save me one day. If I ever come against a sith who uses it against me, I'll have more knowledge than most to fight against it. As you said, one way or another the knowledge will come into use"

Silas stood up from his kneeling spot and leaned over to grab a small rock on the water's edge, his arm soon skimming the stone across the calm waters. Pondering for a moment, he decided to ask Kahlil what he had on his moment for a while "During your sith days... did you ever use it to hurt anyone?" the boy asked before looking down at his Master. He knew Kahlil used it for experiments, but as aggression against other people? that's what he needed to know.

"With such a powerful gift, it would be hard to control, physically and mentally... right?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I've killed a lot of people without hesitation or remorse." There was no hesitation in his answer. Kahlil kept his gaze over the water, letting the runes around him fade from sight. That was just as much a part of him as everything else. The scars his family brought him. The pain he'd caused others. It wasn't something that simply faded just because he became a Jedi.

And he wasn't going to hide it from Silas, either.

"The Dark ripped apart my body. I was ill, constantly. I couldn't stay standing for long. Couldn't fight with my own strength outside of my spells. It stunted my growth. I know, weird to say given how tall I am, but you should see my siblings." He was one of the shortest of the giants. If his growth hadn't been stunted, who knew. He could've been taller than his father.

"But that's not an excuse. Or even a reason why. I chose to. There's no forgiving what I've done, just learning to accept it. Do better. And move ever forward."

Silas Westgard Silas Westgard

Silas nodded slowly to his admittance, it wasn't a surprise by any means when he explained he did. All sith killed, but for the sake of life, he hoped Kahlil didn't do it out of the sport. He didn't ponder on the thought too much but instead watched the runes fade away into the air before their eyes. His eyes looked to Kahlil as he continued his reasoning, Silas all the time being unjudgemental to the Master who had been nothing but good to him.

The Darkside had made his master into an evil person not knelt beside him now. Kahlil was a kind and honorable man, that's what he'd always known him to be "If your siblings are taller than you, I dread to think how much they'd overshadow me" he said with a brief smile, not forgetting what he said earlier about making himself ill. Every day must have been more exhausting than the last, it shocked him that he stayed for so long if that was the case.

"You've got a good way of thinking master, it's probably how you've managed to turn things around for the better. Yea, what you did cannot be undone now but you can be sure to redeem it with the acts you do as a Jedi. Ever since you became a Jedi, you've probably saved millions of lives already."

Silas comes up beside him and nudges him slightly on the arm, his face looking directly down to the master with a smile brewing in the corner of his lips "So far, you've done wonders for me and my development. I'd say that coming from your first padawan is pretty cool, right?" the boy said with encouragement as a way of saying he was doing a good job with him. Slowly, the padawan stepped back and gave Kahlil some room to get back up. He didn't want to be close if he was going to perform any sorcery.

"Come on, why don't you show me what we're going to learn today?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

Kahlil chuckled and nodded. Yeah. There was a lot to still sort out when it came to his own past that he'd been avoiding, but looking forward. To keep moving forward, that was the best he could do for now. He stood up, patting Silas's head before the Padawan stepped away. The boy was far more mature than he should be, but sometimes it was a welcome relief to the worried parts of the Jedi's mind.

But! The lesson. Kahlil raised his hand to the sky, two fingers tracing out the most basic of runes he knew of. Well, one of the more basic. It glowed in the air with the Light before he reached out. Tapped it. The air froze around it, forming into a sphere of cold before it dropped into the lake to slowly melt. "Sith runes are used to force reality to a Sith's will. Complex designs and sequences can do any number of things. This one, for example, means cold. Freezes things in it's basic use. You probably won't be able to draw it in the air like I did, but if you put the rune out and channel the Force into it, it should work. The runes are instructions.

That's the core of Sorcery. Premade instructions. The runes themselves give order to your power. Activate a sequence and you can do things like this." He wrote one out in the sky. A cold rune. Sharp. Movement. A brief glow and a spear of ice formed before shooting off into the lake itself. "Make sense?"

Silas braced naturally for the pats and flashed a smile as he backed away from him. He wasn't much of a head patting type of kid, but Silas took it whenever it was offered. Ruffling his hair up, he observed closely what his master was explaining and showing, nodding a few times to show he was following.

His eyes seems to sparkle slightly while he watched him summon a rune before his eyes, its icy form soon falling into the lake to melt away. It amazed him how Master Kahlil could do it so easily, even with his explanation he still had trouble finding a place to start. Silas understood what things he could, but summoning a rune in the first place? that was going to take time to get used to.

"In ways master, yes." he said in an unsure tone as he took a step closer to the water, his head looking back to Kahlil "I won't lie Master, this is something far different than what I've done before. It will take a lot of time for me to get my head around," he said honestly, calming himself to try and help him summon a rune easier. However, nothing seemed to happen.

That was expected, such an exceptional skill took time.

"Do you think it can give me an advantage in a duel if needs be?"
