- Crystal - The ghostfire crystal is very unique and rare. It emits a near-translucent blade and the humming noise that most regular lightsabers have is non-existent.
- Activation - This lightsaber must be activated internally using the force.
- Ghostfire crystal - Thanks to the ghostfire's special properties this weapon can be used for any stealthy situation; be it an assassination or sabotage. That is possible because of it's ability to be silent and almost invisible, instead of buzzing and glowing like the standard lightsaber.
- Internal activation - Akabane wanted to make sure the activator switch was inside of the hilt, rather than outside of it like most lightsabers. This would serve as a safety feature but also render the weapon useless for those who cannot use the force.
- Dangerous - An invisible laser sword sounds good on paper but it can be quite the opposite in careless or inexperienced hands. It may be possible that the user will forget there's an actual blade in front of their body, a terrible accident ensuing.
- Activation - If Akabane somehow finds himself incapable of using the force, he won't be using this lightsaber either.
Akabane received a lightsaber from his master as a reward for winning a challenged duel. Although he was thankful for the saber his master had given him, Akabane preferred to own at least one weapon he'd made himself. That's when he decided to get another lightsaber, one he'd craft this time. He knew the basics of making one but he still asked a friend to aid him in building it. A crystal was needed for starters. This friend knew a lot about many kinds of them and said she'd give him a ghostfire crystal at a discount, saying it suited him . Akabane took up her offer and they started the process of adding each component until it was complete.
