Siv Dragr said:"If I guess right, what do I win?"
Her checked the time on their chrono and the time told her that she had six minutes before it was time to go. Turning away from the watch she studied Dragr thoughtfully as she considered what to say or what not to say as his question stirred in the mind. It brought forth many possibilities that could wreak havoc on the Sith who had conquered the Galactic Empire. But, then again, it also came with huge risk. This man, and the other Mandalorians that he worked for or with, despised the Sith entirely. What would he do to Her if he ever discovered that she was a Sith Lord?
Her had many contacts in the Mid-systems where the High Republic laid prone and sandwiched between three different Empires. Yet, those people were coming to the realisation that she was a Sith working among democracy and corruption to accomplish ulterior motives. She had the Jedi Grandmaster to thank for this dawning of comprehension and insight into the enigma who wormed their way onto Enarc through acts of legislation and backroom deals with powerful men. If Her were to put those people in the same room as Dragr then it was inevitable that he would discover who this woman was. That was a risk that she couldn't afford, or at least, for the moment.
She considered Mahporeem. It was a planet, located in the Weiss system, where the last traces of Imperial power had been pushed back to the furthest reaches of the Outer Rim Territories. Those stalwarts of the New Order were no doubt eager to retaliate against the Sith after what they had done to them. But the Imperial remnants were so far and distant from the Core that it was difficult even for a cunning mind like Her to figure out how to bring them into this plot if there was to be a plot at all. There were many too many pieces in transit and motion to put together the puzzle as it pertained to a possible Mandalorian-Imperial connection on Fresia. But, then again, things can change given enough time.
Her knew that she had the pieces that she could put into play in order to begin a rebellion on this planet against the Sith Covenant. It was just a matter of figuring out how to put it together that was the issue, and as Dragr's question lingered between them, Her summarized that there wasn't enough time to figure it out all here and now. Yet, she did not want to lose the opportunity of working with these Mandalorians. There had to be something that she could say in order to keep them in touch until Her had something more concrete to bring to the table. She just had to buy more time.
"What do you win?" Her repeated the question softly. "I am not going to expose who I know and what I can bring to bear on Fresia. We just met. It will take time for us to work out how to work together against the Covenant. This rebellion will require patience and a slow roll before it can materialise. However, I do want to work towards the ideas that you have in play. The best place to begin with would be to create or find an insider who can leak to us information while a network is set up. I can help with this."
There were two basic ideas that came to mind as Her spoke softly. She knew about a man among the Vanguard (a splinter-cell of Jedi Knights seeking to fight the Sith) who used to be in the Sith Covenant. But Her didn't know him well enough to put down roots yet. That would take time to happen. Another alternative idea was to make a move on Incom. This would also take time as well, however. Her didn't have it all figured out yet. The details remained blurred like a paint that had lines drawn on the parchment, and strands of colours dotted here or there, but had yet to be drawn into something to be seen and observed. Whatever Her came up with to make plays on the corporation would have to be a dummy. Something that would obfuscate the bigger machine behind it.
You guessed it. That would also take more time.
"Your network shouldn't be on Coromon," Her continued to say as she put aside her ideas to talk about where the Mandalorians should set-up shop. "It should be elsewhere on Fresia. Somewhere more discreet and difficult to find. Hard to access. While you set-up I'll bring something that you can see, speak to, and touch. We didn't have enough time to figure everything out today. But it was enough to know that the two of us are real, I think."
As Her considered leaving the bar a little earlier than necessary she tried to put herself in Dragr's shoes. There was every chance that while Her could be a legitimate foe of the Sith Covenant there was also another that she could be someone working for them. From a certain perspective that was true, to some extent, but Her dismissed the complicated nature of her work and fitted it down to the basics. Dragr had taken a risk by coming to Fresia, and while what Her had told him was appetising, it was all smoke and mirrors so far. She needed to give him something real to leave a strong taste in the mouth.
Something that would make him want Her to come back and talk it over again. Somewhere that didn't feel as if the Covenant were going to bear down and crush them at any given moment.
"The Empire was an odd and quick blip compared to the legacy of the Alliance and the conquests of the Covenant," Her muttered. "You would think that it almost didn't happen. What happened on Commenor and how they overthrew the Jedi. How we took over Balmorra and Kuat before we seized Coruscant and turned it into Imperial Centre. I couldn't be there when they burned the Jedi's Lightsaber's on the steps of the Palace but I am told it was something beautiful and reverent. I wish I had been but I was busy elsewhere at the time."
Leaning off the bar table, Her checked her watch a final time. It was almost time to go.
"When we attacked Atrisia, with the Emperor's weapon, we were mere moments away from a victory that would have seen to the demise of the Sith," Her continued to say cryptically. "I am still on mission. What was done before can happen again. Don't you think?"
