Work In Progress The Forge Guard

4C1IdVM.jpg

"The Forge is a piece of history that must be protected and watched over by someone. This someone should not only understand its history and what it meant to the Jedi as a whole but must ensure that it would be respected for years to come. The Forge can always be returned to its original location, but the machine needed to leave Tython for a safe haven. It could not go to Coruscant, the Galactic Alliance as a whole, or even the Silvers. No. This needed to go to someone who understood what it meant to the Jedi. No, not even Caltin himself could take care of this.

But Thurion could."

- Caltin Vanagor, at the Battle of Tython

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
When the Brotherhood of the Maw struck the ancient homeworld of the Jedi Order, an entire galaxy's worth of warriors of the Light intervened and poured their all into defending these hallowed grounds. The fighting was incredibly fierce from the start, as Sith fanatics threw themselves at the Jedi protectors in relentless assaults, and many lives were claimed on both sides. The planet itself became the target of destruction, and great earthquakes and volcanic activities were unleashed upon the land, as well as a mighty flood to complete the trifecta of natural disasters.

During the climax of this apocalyptic battle for the soul of the Force itself, it was Jedi Master Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor who decided to retrieve the sacred Forge of the Jedi before it could be destroyed, or worse, fall into enemy hands. This truly ancient device is where countless aspiring knights constructed their first lightsabers to complete their training and has seen use since the days of the Je'daii. Vanagor brought the Forge aboard his ship as he departed the planet, for his part in this battle was over.

He also retrieved the unconscious body of Thurion Heavenshield, the Jedi Master who had, for a time, halted the advance of the tsunami about to engulf the land so that many might make their escape. He later succumbed to the ordeal, placing himself in stasis to withstand the great wave crashing down on him. Now safe aboard Caltin's ship along with several other survivors, its captain set course for the High King's homeworld of Midvinter.

Once Thurion was revived and recovered from the tremendous strain he'd placed upon himself, it was decided that the Forge should remain under his care for the time being. Thus Midvinter became its new home, a great deal of distance from the current troubles of galactic conflict. He saw it fit that the Forge is placed under armed guard to dissuade would-be wrongdoers. Thus it was that the Smiðgardr, the Forge Guard, was formed.

Drawn from the most veteran of Heavenheim's guardsmen, the lucky sixteen received additional training and were given new equipment unique to their elite unit. The greatest of discipline was instilled in them, even going so far as to cover their faces below the eyes so that no discernable features may give away their identities; while on duty, they are not to be spoken to or otherwise interacted with by the public, and any trespasser would swiftly be urged to leave the premises or be arrested and brought before the King. They dress in black and white; in part symbolising the seriousness of their task, in part inspired by the Light and Dark of the Force.

With each day divided into four shifts (morning, afternoon, evening, night), only four of its sixteen members are on duty at any one time, one for each cardinal direction, unless during extreme circumstances when the entire force may be called into service. They are utterly devoted to their singular task and answer only to their King and the Jedi Order.
