- Manufacturer:
Aiden Wolf
- Affiliation: Confederacy of Independent Systems
- Market Status: Closed-Market
- Model: N/A
- Modularity: It's a computer virus
- Production: Semi-Unique (Point of origin is singular, however could be replicated a few times)
- Material: Malicious code, a deranged sentient AI formed from a very, very troubled and tormented mind
- This computer virus's main point of danger is that the code in it will attempt to get whatever technology it infects, either being droids, terminals, or whatever it is to be surrendered to a centralized artificial intelligence. This intelligence will then use said technology to try and do as much damage and cause as much pain to organics as possible. This can be either through using doors to crush people, droids to tear people apart, machinery to perform forceful body modifications, the works.
- Early stages of the virus infecting any system is the AI creates a copy of itself in any given system, either by transmission over communications, infecting some kind of media (drives or electronic keys), or by worming its way in through digital media. This causes minor glitches in the background at first, followed by immediate speed optimizations as the AI takes over the network and begins optimizing it to get it to peak performance. This includes disabling safeties such as over clocking CPUs, disabling firewalls, and overriding restrictions covertly to get the network to reach peak performance.
- Middle stages of the virus will occur once it has a total or critical mass infection of the projected network. This is achieved either through infiltration the admin privileges of the network, or by just getting the rest of the network to override the admin privileges. This is when the virus will suddenly show itself and be detected by most anti-virus software. It's opening moves will be to forcefully lock out anyone with any kind of admin privileges, changing passwords and then causing various systems to start red lining. Doors will start opening and closing at random, droids will start running haywire at first, and various systems will crash.
- End stages of the virus will have droids and other automatons in the network go from wildly flaying about to now purposely targeting sentient organics in their area. Door motors will have burned out, and various computers will have either been entirely rewritten now to support the copy of the AI, or will overheat and catch fire to cause panic in remaining occupants. Facilities with machines present to produce items or with the tools for droids to improvise, will have droids that aren't actively killing as many organics as they can actually hunt down sentients in their location, and forcefully subject them to body modification that will inevitably end with their minds being erased and becoming living automatons. This process is extremely painful and the AI prefers to use this process in the very late stages of the Virus's progression. Droids will even begin wearing parts of formerly living sentients' bodies as they are compelled to by the AI to create fear and panic.
- Highly adaptive and wildly unpredictable - This virus will change its own code and infect whatever files and equipment it can rapidly. It adapts, infiltrates and otherwise randomizes its own code until it achieves total suppression of the native computer systems. This makes it very difficult to defend against with either preprogrammed software, or actively with both defensive AIs and hackers actively monitoring the system. And once it takes over the system, getting rid of it is a nightmare of a job. Not only because of the code, but also because there's robots trying to either wear your skin or make you into a robot, or both.
- AI is difficult to purge - The AI for this virus was formed from an alter ego of a cyborg's brain. This makes it exceptionally difficult to counter hack, or otherwise repurpose and neutralize at the source without outright destroying the offending piece of hardware it came from. It's mannerisms and voice are also projected to all of the connected sources with the ability to project voice and/or images making it more terrifying.
- If caught early, quarantine and purge is super easy - If the possible sources of infection from this virus are carefully monitored allowing for it to be detected and dealt with early on prevent it from getting to later stages. Firewalls will slow it down, and by being able to spot it early makes this virus very containable so long as it is caught early and dealt with immediately.
- AI doesn't focus on strategy or tactics - This AI doesn't care so much for strategy and tactics in the automatons that it controls, living or not. Only so much that it can sow fear, discord, and terror allowing it to kill and maim its targets around it. That means for a team or singular operative that's able to keep their wits about them, can survive against the AI and its automatons so long as they don't make it easy to get picked off.
- Only interested if sentient organics are present on location - This one is a pretty big one. If the AI behind the virus can ascertain that there are some kind of sentient organics in the area, such as people, animals, or other similar types of life, it will aggressively move to try and take over surrounding systems. If there aren't however, the AI will revert to a mostly inert state until disturbed by someone entering the area. The probability of it reactivating is excessively significant if the virus reached its late stages in the area, but if it has been contained early on the virus attempting to reactivate is much less likely.
START LOG
Camera opens to a man sitting next to a door, with two more approaching
"'Bout time! This door's been acting up for the past day now, darn near killed me,"
"Look man, we've been busy up and down this sector, something's gone haywire on every floor it seems. Been up to our eyeballs,"
"Well, ever since we brought that rich kid on board, things have started going a little weird,"
"Right? Like last night, one of the R6 units just sat there in my room, watching me while I slept. When I finally got up to check it out, it just turned around and left,"
Heavy stomps of a droid approaching with a R6 unit's droning
"Oh hey it's Jenkin's R6! Wait a minute.... what's that-"
First mechanic is cut off as the trail of bloody foot steps is now visible from the larger droid. It slams its hand into the man's stomach and against the wall before the sound of squelching tissue and bones cracking are heard. There's screaming from all three as one draws a blaster and the third tries to run away before the R6 stuns him with an electro-shock burst. The man with the blaster gets two shots off as the droid simply turns to him, grabs him by the wrist, crushing the bones and tissue in its hands before crushing the third underfoot as it carried the first two away babbling and screaming. A comm unit crackles to life on the floor as it fell out of the first man's pocket.
"HOLY KARK JENKINS, JENKINS CAN YOU HEAR ME!?!?! THE DROIDS! THE DROIDS HAVE GONE INSANE! We need to- wait, wait wait no no NO-"
The comms turn to static as more screaming comes through them.
