The First Step Is Always The Hardest

Cain brought the balls to his front, and used them to smash Gorteko's hand that was holding the lightsaber. He then used another ball to smash him in the stomach. This no doubt would catch his student off guard. He wanted to see if this attack would make him completely lose focus of the balls and drop them. If he was pretty sure they would be dropped. If they weren't then he would be surprised.

When the first ball hit his hand Gorteko winced at the pain as he dropped his weapon. The wincing prevented Gorteko from seeing the second ball, making it to where he wouldn't even know what hit him, though later he could infer what had happened. After being hit Gorteko fell over, face don onto the ground, drooling, and gasping for breath. 'I had hoped, to... Do better...' Gorteko thought as he faded out of consciousness.

Cain could have waken him up, but he decided that he needed some rest. It was about three hours before his student showed signs of waking up. He must have been really tired. He set one of the balls to the side, but kept another close by. He was going to make him lift just this one ball when he awoke. He awaited his apprentice's sleep to end soon. He hoped that it wouldn't last much longer because he was tires of waiting.

Gorteko opened his eyes slowly, before sitting up. "How long was I out?" He asked as he held his head after wiping off his mouth. 'It all happened so quickly, though honestly I'm surprised I was even able to swing at him, given the state I was in' Gorteko began to stand up, his head throbbing though he ignored it.

"About three hours." He smiled. Finally he could get on with the training. "You see the ball right there? Pick it up." He wasn't going to wait a second for the training to start. He wanted to get the basics of this down as quickly as possible. He lifted one ball up. He was going to push his student to death, and then revive him, then push him to death again.

'Training already? He really does want to kill me.' Gorteko thought, though he only nodded in response to his command. Gorteko moved his arm out in front of him and slightly raised it to lift the ball. He held it in place as he had not been told to do otherwise and as he did he felt a pain shoot through his side, probably from the blow earlier; though he endured it, not wanting to show his pain to his master.

Cain smiled. He just wanted to see if he could still lift it, which he could. "Alright, you can drop it. There is a small shield looking object laying on the ground, do you see it?" He was going to block attacks with the shield using the force. Hopefully this wouldn't strain him to much. Cain remembered when he was being taught this. His nose bled horribly, but his master didn't let him stop. Of course he was 11 and his master had pushed him much harder, but Cain was still worried that they might have a bloody nose incident.

Gorteko dropped the ball on command and walked over to the shield. "What would you have me do with it, Master?" Gorteko asked as he picked it up. He wondered why shields were even still around since most blasters and lightsabers could tear straight through them. Though Gorteko supposed this, like all things, had a reason behind it; as master surely wouldn't have him use a shield for nothing.

"Carry it with the force. I will attack you, and you will block. Simple as that." Cain held the training saber. He was on his toes, ready for him to get ready so he can instantly lunge forward. He was going to hit with as much force as possible. He twirled the saber in his hand. The shield was an old blast shield from the times of the rule of Darth Sidious. It was a trophy from a rebel camp.

'Carry it with the force and block. It sounds simple enough and this should be an effective skill later.' Gorteko dropped the shield and caught it with the force just before it hit the ground. Raising the shield back up to just below eye level, Gorteko took a step back with his right foot, into a more defensive stance. His arms were out in front of him to help his concentration on the shield as he awaited his masters attacks.

Cain lunged forward, using the force to amplify his launch. He slammed down on the shield with all his force, then he quickly kicked the shield and jumped away. He wanted to weaken his apprentice down before trying to attack his open spots. He side stepped and attacked his apprentice's side. Hoping that he would block it, or he would receive a very large barrage of attacks.

The first attack launched the shield back towards Gorteko, it hit his hands and even pushed him back a couple of inches. He sent the shield back out only for it to be stopped by the kick. Seeing his master side step, Gorteko jumped, using the force to increase the height of his jump so that he could flip over Cain. As he jumped Gorteko brought the shield in closer to him and made sure it was between his master and himself. Landing in a crouch, Gorteko kept his hands up, holding the shield in place; He then resumed his defensive stance from before.

Cain, without turning, quickly smashed the shield with the force. He then flipped over the shield towards the back of his student. Hopefully this will help him see that the force is much faster, and better at blocking then ones body. He then lunged at his back. If he were to block the strike then Cain would simple blast the shield with the force again. If he didn't, then Cain would tear the shield out of his grasp and teach him the basics of block with the force.

Cain's attack sent the shield back into Gorteko's hands, he caught it and held it by the edges. This distraction restrained his ability to react to his masters next attack as Gorteko's eyes were the only part of him the were able to follow Cain. All he could think about in that moment was that he couldn't move in time and that he had to stop the next attack or he'd be in a world of hurt. Without moving, Gorteko sent out a blast behind him, toward his master. That was the first time he had used the force without channeling it through some part of his body.
