Welcome Future Citizen!

We are thrilled that you have shown interest in the process of becoming a First Order Resident and Citizen. As a prospective citizen of our glorious First Order, there are several things that will be important to know as you transition into society. Let’s start off with the basics.

Every nation needs a great leader - the First Order is blessed to have two! The Supreme Leader, Sieger Ren is the absolute ruler of the Empire. Often his will is carried out and supervised by his appointed Grand Moff, the well known and revered Natasi Josephine Fortan. It has been under her careful guidance the First Order has risen to prominence in the Outer Rim.

The First Order itself is a highly organized and extremely efficient Military Junta. Once a hermit state, the First Order maintains limited ties with foreign governments except where trade and benefit to the Order are created. Its capital lies deep in the Outer Rim, almost at the edge of the known galaxy - Dosuun.

Dosuun is the crown jewel in the First Order’s crown and a prime example of the civilizing power of the First Order’s ideology. From a rarely-visited backwater on the edge of known space to a bustling hub, Dosuun has it all: pristine nature preserves with beautiful views and abundant wildlife, idyllic countryside and suburbia for families, and bustling metropolises featuring world-class art, culture, cuisine, and nightlife. It is home to the First Order’s capital of Avalonia, a beautiful city showcasing the best of the First Order’s design philosophy: broad, peaceful avenues set in orderly blocks, sprinkled with beautiful parks and architecturally diverse buildings. The gears of empire turn in Avalonia; will you be part of it?

Though Dosuun is by far the largest of the ‘gems’ beneath the banner of the First Order, other worlds have found a home beneath her loving arms. Worlds such as Riflor where science and technology have flourished, Mustafar and Hoth - both rich in minerals and raw materials, all the way to Fondor and Atrisia. Many worlds benefit from the safety and security the First Order and her armies provide.

Knowing about the place you may one day claim citizenship of is wonderful, but there is a cost. Each citizen of the First Order is expected to earn their keep. Though employment of any kind is commendable, there are several professions which are revered above the rest. Service to the State is considered the highest honor amongst the First Order’s citizens. This can be achieved in a number of ways, some of the most notable include the First Order’s Armed Forces, be it in the Army, the Navy, the Stormtrooper Corps, or even the relatively new Starfighter Corps. Another way to serve is as an agent of the First Order Security Bureau. No other agency is better known for its unceasing efforts to ensure safety and security upon First Order worlds. Though much of their work is clandestine, they are often the first line of defense against subversives and miscreants. Additionally, if leadership is your strength, you may find a rewarding career in the First Order government. If any of these is of interest to you, please see a more detailed explanation below.

First Order Navy
Perhaps the most prestigious of the First Order’s branches of military, the Navy is an organization that has been crucial to the rise of the Order. Symbolic of their past, the First Order Navy features classic design features of her predecessors in way of large battlecruisers and the iconic wedge shaped vessels of the distant past. Don’t be fooled, however. The First Order is a powerhouse of industrial and technological development - and even though there has been a paradigm shift in naval strategy over the years, their ships are no less deadly. The technology is certainly up to par with the rest of the galaxy, in some cases light years ahead, but perhaps the most notable difference is the discipline and effectiveness of their Officer Corps.

Boasting some of the most well trained officers in all of the galaxy, The First Order has a complex and rigorous training regimen that doesn’t stop upon graduation. On the job training administered by veteran naval officers ensures that the First Order is not only on the cutting edge of technology but also employing the most squared away of officers and commanders.

First Order Stormtrooper Corps (Department of Navy)

Until recently, the Stormtrooper Corps had performed more often as an army in its own right. Now, they have returned to their origins - the elite of the First Order’s ground troops. Whether the fight is on the surface of a planet or in the void of space, the Stormtrooper Corps is the tip of the spear. Storming foreign worlds infested with strife and disorder, enforcing the Supreme Leader’s directive of safety and security, those who join the ranks can be expected to travel from one end of the empire to the next in service of the Order. These soldiers are often hand picked from the ranks due to their leadership ability or physical aptitude. Not only are they rumored to be the most effective branch of the First Order Military, but they have some damn pretty uniforms too.

Unconventional Warfare Division (Department of Navy)

Officially a Division of the Navy, the Unconventional Warfare Division is just that. Little information is publicly available about it, but rumors circulate that it consists of the most elite soldiers the First Order has to offer - or at least the most unique. Though the details are classified, there are several initiatives and projects that are known to reside within this division such as Project: Afterlife, Project: Revenant, and Project-42 among others.

Starfighter Corps (Department of Navy)

Nothing is more distinct throughout the galaxy than the scream of the signature twin ion engines of the First Order as they fly overhead. When children of the Order dream of growing up and flying? It’s almost always there that they see themselves, behind the controls of a TIE Fighter. Or perhaps a TIE Bomber.

Though it existed as its own entity previously, it was reabsorbed by the Navy after a failed initiative. Once again it has been formed, primarily as a test project by the Admiralty to improve the capabilities of the First Order Navy and its continuing mission to provide safety and security to the worlds of the Order. The First Order Starfighter Corps takes flying to a new level - combining the lessons of the past with rapidly evolving technology, First Order pilots are sure to be utilizing cutting edge technology to bring both safety and security to those worlds of the First Order as well as enforcing the space lanes.

First Order Army

Perhaps the largest branch of the First Order’s military, the Army spans hundreds of worlds, thousands even. Though there isn’t a garrison on every world, it is these soldiers whose job it is to enforce peace and order on First Order worlds. Often they are called upon in support of the Stormtrooper Corps to provide additional support. For example, artillery, walkers, and even infantry support. It’s not the Stormtrooper Corps, but these are often the best the First Order has to offer in terms of dedication to the nation. Be it defense, or the subjugation of an unruly world, these soldiers can be counted on to carry out the will of Sieger, should it be unto glory or to the grave.

First Order Security Bureau

The First Order Security Bureau is officially a civilian run agency, reporting to t the Minister of Security and in turn to the Moff Council. While there are certain standards of conduct when it comes to the handling of uniformed service members, the FOSB tends to color outside the lines not only frequently but more often than not. Though like the Unconventional Warfare Division, most of their work is classified, it takes form in non-combat functions. From being tasked to escort dignitaries and political figures of the First Order to acting as liaisons between the First Order and other governments, Security Bureau staff are often in the know and can reasonably expect to see even the most remote corners of the empire.

First Order Public Service

It would be remiss not to mention the importance of the civil worker, for without the civil worker the State would cease to exist. In the public realm, there is much a First Order Citizen or Resident can do from contributing in your local neighborhood, becoming a local prefect, all the way to becoming a First Order Planetary Governor - or even serve on the Moff Council, the Grand Moff’s appointed cabinet. Whether it's administrating a world under the arm of the First Order or establishing diplomatic ties with foreign governments, the importance of the public worker cannot be overstated.

Force Sensitive Reallocation: Special Access

Unlike many of the galaxy’s governments the First Order has a strict monitoring of Force Sensitive peoples. Typically, these persons are identified at birth via a rigorous battery of genetics and other testing. When certain genetic markers are found, an additional test is performed to ascertain to what degree a person may potentially become Force Sensitive. If the subject is found to be below a certain threshold, they are released to the family as normal - it is those who exceed the threshold whose paths change.

Though rare, once a child is identified as having an above average ‘Force Potential’, the parents are often quietly approached by one of Sieger’s agents - one of the Knights of Ren. Through a simple non-disclosure agreement and a sizeable compensation package to the family, the child is adopted into the Order of Ren and transported to ‘The Bastion’ - the home of Sieger’s secretive Order. From this point on, the child ceases to exist. At least in relation to its biological parents.

Though the existence of the Order is no State secret, little is known about the group and are seen in public infrequently. As do all organizations, their purpose and profile change with time - so also have the Knights of Ren. When they are seen, their appearance is one of uniformity. Dark robes, tunic or trousers, and the same mask, each one identifiable by only the minutest of differences in stature or build. Otherwise, they are one and the same. Further still are Sieger’s own personal guard. The Praetorians.

Easily identifiable by their crimson garb, they are considered the most elite of Sieger’s Order, their combat skills rumored to include techniques and disciplines uncommon to the average martial artist - even Teräs Käsi. The ultimate in hand to hand combat, they are rumored to have even been trained by Sieger himself, imparting a portion of his own power into them. Their word is Sieger’s, and it should be obeyed as such - even by members of the Order of Ren.

First Order Society

As you wander the streets of Avalonia, New Advora, Cloud City, you may notice an abounding number of humans. While the First Order accepts those of all races to apply for citizenship, there is a distinct focus on the resilience and superiority of the human spirit. To be clear, the First Order has no anti-alien policies or restrictions, but do have a distinct number of opportunities intended to help humanity flourish. For example, the Stormtrooper Corps is entirely made up of human soldiers. For those who do not fit within the uniformity of the armor pattern (Most notably those of differing biologies), their service is relegated to other areas such as the larger forces of the Army, Navy, and/or the planetary defense forces - the Auxiliary. Likewise, much of First Order Society is catered to the needs of humans both in design and function - advertisements, holo-films, even featured artists and musicians tend to be human. That isn’t to say there are no non-human artists, actors and actresses, however the culture is one that puts an emphasis on humanity first.

A New Order for a New Time

Where We Came From:

The First Order claims ancestry to the original, though who could say if that is the truth, or a fabrication? In truth, the reasons for the most recent resurgence of the Order is largely unknown. Some say it was merely a successor state, arisen out of a desire to relive the glory days of the Empire. Others inferred it was a byproduct of the growing Galactic Alliance. Originally established on Eraidu, the First Order was pushed out by the establishment of the Alliance. Undeterred, the First Order relocated to the Outer Rim - far away from the influence of the Alliance. It was there, upon the world of Dosuun that the First Order matured and began its growth. Marching from system to system across the Outer Rim, Imperial Expansion took off like a storm. World after world clambered to join the First Order. Enemies of the State were vanquished and rebellions squashed - all under the watching eye of the Supreme Leader and his appointed second - Grand Moff Natasi Fortan.

Where We Are:

The First Order has survived a long drawn out war with the Galactic Alliance in the recent past. The Alliance, now disbanded has fallen under the banner of the Outer Rim Coalition, a loose collection of localities and individuals committed to freedom and lack of regulation. The First Order has tangled more than once with the Coalition, most notably as Skor II where the military might of the First Order assault was blunted due to circumstances nigh imperceptible. Since that setback, the Order has begun to shift from its aggressive doctrine to one focused on the home state, ensuring safety and security for those who reside within its borders.

Where We Are Going: (Recent Changes)

Due to both internal and external pressures, the First Order has recently adopted a new doctrine. Originally coined as ‘The Fortan Doctrine’, this propelled the First Order into a more isolationist stance than previous. While imports and exports are necessary for an empire of its size, the First Order has heavily restricted external travel both incoming and outgoing. Proper documentation is required for both citizens who are traveling from the First Order’s borders as well as those coming in to the First Order - though there is exception.

As a part of the Fortan Doctrine, the Order has established several worlds to act as ‘Premier Worlds’. Planets which require only the minimal amount of paperwork for non residents and external visitors and the requirement on First Order citizens entirely removed. It is the intention that outsiders to the First Order can grasp but a glimpse of what life is like under the First Order and see the prosperity it brings to the galaxy. These worlds include: Atrisia, Kaeshana, Riflor, Eraidu, Bespin, and Lothal. While the other worlds under the First Order’s rule are veiled behind a curtain of mystery and conjecture, these worlds are surprisingly open for the first time in recent history.

OOC Note on ‘Premier Worlds’: If you’re running around, gunning down people in the street, obviously causing disorder or otherwise attempting to sabotage First Order property, it is likely that you will be apprehended and at the very least identified and marked as a violator. It is at that time you will be put on an active “No fly” list of sorts ICly. If you’ve got ideas for threads that involve sowing disorder, please reach out to faction staff and we’ll see what we can work out. Again, these worlds are being opened from an OOC perspective to allow more roleplay on them and IC to allow the superiority of Imperial Doctrine to be shown to the wider galaxy.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: If I’m a non-human, can I still serve in the First Order military?
A: Certainly, all service is commended, however it is important to note several things. The First Order Stormtrooper Corps
is exclusive to human or near human applicants, however all other branches are open to all applicants. Any uniform or additional accommodations for unique biology must be paid for out of the applicant’s pocket however as only human/near human accoutrements are provided by the First Order.

Q: I’m a Force Sensitive, can I join the Knights of Ren?
A: Yes. There is a complex and thorough evaluation process involved. Upon completion and approval, you will be granted the rank of Disciple. Where you go from there will be determined by your devotion and level of commitment to Sieger Ren.

Q: I want to create a high ranking officer, can I make a Grand Admiral?
A: No. However, there are numerous ranks available to a new join starting at the very bottom of the rung to a mid to high tier officer. There is no progression system managed by the faction staff - you can promote or demote yourself at will within the ‘open ranks’. If you have specific questions about what your character would reasonably permitted to do or not do, Faction Staff is more than willing to work with you on making sure your character ideas fit both you and the faction narrative.

Q: What type of roleplay can I find within the First Order?
A: There are many types of roleplay our members enjoy. These include primarily Naval Oriented threads involving Star Destroyers, Cruisers, Fighters, and exploring the realm of space. Likewise many of our members roleplay as Stormtroopers or even Special Forces - the ‘in the trenches’ types. For those who don’t like front line combat RP, we have an active Security Bureau (Think CIA/FBI crossover) which focuses on the more subtle aspects of conflict. Subterfuge, spying, undercover agents, even delving into the realm of political roleplay within the government of the First Order! Furthermore, we also have roleplay for Force Users. While this is decidedly Dark Side oriented, there is opportunity for collaborative roleplay involving Light Side characters. In addition to the aforementioned, we have a fairly active core of writers involved in the, for lack of a better term, ‘political’ arena of the First Order. Grand Moff, Moff’s, and Governors. For those desiring political intrigue and exploring the inner workings of an autocratic government RP, we’ve got it!

Q: What if my character is from a world held by the First Order, but is a Light Sider or involved in rebellious activities?
A: It’s bound to happen - the galaxy is a large place and it can’t be assumed
everything is capable of being policed. In these situations, staff is probably your biggest friend as they will be able to help you tell the stories you want to without compromising the overall faction narrative. Will you be allowed free reign to take over the world and claim it a bastion of the light? Probably not, however it is likely that if your character isn’t violating any First Order laws, or at very least doing so inconspicuously, that you’ll be able to roleplay on First Order worlds without much of a fuss.

Q: Are Non-First Order characters allowed to travel freely within its borders?
A: Provided your character has not been convicted of crimes against the State, or identified as being a subversive or contributing to seditious activities, your character can travel freely within First Order borders provided they are always in possession of identifying documents. If you are found travelling without them, an attempt may be made to detain you. (Of course, this is 9/10ths just narrative flair. If you have ideas in mind on a story, feel free to simply float them past faction staff so that we can all be on the same page! We’re not here to deny story without valid cause.
