Private The First Meeting of Potential

There was no preamble for this kind of meeting or discussion in her mind. Today was not about catching up with a friend. Nor was it checking in on another through them. Especially after such a trying time.

The formal notice for Makko to meet with her would not have left any doubt that it was a proper meeting between Jedi rather than friends.

Instead, finding her first visit with a potential candidate for the position that required a tactful hand. Or maybe that was an old view that needed to have a reassessment given the events in the core. Or rather, it was needed more than ever because of those events. A discussion for another time.

The position and its purpose was not the topic of the day. Nor was it something she alone could speculate on or amend without discussion.

Along with that, the previous being that held the position had created difficult boots to fill if it were to remain as it was. Perhaps an opportunity for those needing a chance to shine. Or a chance to see where they needed to improve if they saw fit to examine the events in such a way. The will of the Force and how it guided the galaxy was open to all interpretations though, and seldom ever seemed reasonable in the moment of occurrence.

But there had been a handful of people that had been referred to the council, and Lossa had taken it upon herself to meet with them. Was there potential for him to work alongside the others that made up their council here? Absolutely. Would he, or others for that matter uphold the values expected of the position? That was yet to be determined. And the other question on her mind nagged at the back of her mind.

"Please don't be mad at me." Voicing her only concern before he could arrive in the hallway she had claimed. Her hands kept behind her back and tangled together to keep still.

MAKKO

Lossa would be net by a particularly tired looking version of Makko. His hair had grown out and was pulled into a knot. Streaks of colour had not been well maintained.

His chin was covered by over a week of stubble. It wasn't a deliberate look with clean lines; he simply hadn't shaved.

"Hey," he went, tilting his head to one side. His eyes were a little bloodshot.

"Why would I be mad?"

She did not jolt or make a sound of surprise at the reply.

A slight sigh replacing it as she slowly turned and looked him over. At first slight amusement as a smile dared to form in one corner. Before it turned downward and sympathy took its place. It too fled as her expression shifted back to an unreadable other.

He didn’t broach the topic she had in mind.

"Before I get to the topic-I want to make clear that this is not a final meeting or anything more than making you aware." Tone clear and unwavering. The practiced words coming easy if a bit fast. Turning to face him fully now as that same corner of her mouth twitched upward once more.

Professionalism, as it turned out, was difficult to maintain.

"Knight Aiden Porte has departed from the council for personal reasons, and with that, the mantle as Guardian of Peace is left empty." Her hands once again twined behind her back. "Aiden spoke of potential candidates for the position, and I am following up on those in his stead."

Formal and calm still held close despite the situation. She blinked, frowning slightly.

"I am not asking or telling you to take up the mantle. But I am informing you that you were considered by Aiden as potentially suitable for it."
