The first day of forever

It was one of the coldest days of Echo's life. It was raining and cold and she was on the street dancing attempting to make enough money to feed herself for that day. The crowd was being not generous that day. She had barely made anything in fact in the worn out hat beside her she had maybe 5 credits. Though the rain was beating down on her she continued to dance her heart out and hits a side spin. Before landing she thought as the rain beat down heavily upon her if she could make one person happy she might make enough to eat for the first time in days

Viru walked through the streets of Nar Shadaa. Oh how he hated the planet, but one could not deny the appeal it had. It was a planet that called to entertainers of all types, it was a world filled with all the vices one could ever wish to fullfill. Casino's littered both sides of the street their lights bright calling for the passerbys to come in. Even as the cold rain poured down that did not stop the citizens from flowing in and out some with their pockets empty, while others left with more credits then they'd ever known. It was the way of Nar Shadaa. Viru himself dressed in his typical garb when in public almost seemed like a lone mercenary. He stood easily at two meters tall and was a hard individual to miss in a crowd. His long dreadlocks reached to the center of his chest while the rest were done up in a ponytail. Viru was a wall of muscle and it was obvious through the wet t-shirt he wore. Usually he didn't affiliate himself with such planets but he had come in hopes of making a business deal with one of the casino's in a hope to acquire it and have another source of income. The deal was still in the works and while the eggheads back at the office handled the paperwork he decided he needed to enjoy himself.

Taking a swig from his flask Viru felt the liquor warm his body. He was completely soaked from head to toe and the clothes weighed on him. Ready to enter one of the cafes and get himself a cup of caf Viru stopped and stared at the women who danced before it. The rain glistened on her pale skin as she danced. Viru was transfixed by it, by the emotions behind the dance. The way she didn't care if she made no credits. It was almost as if the women lived to dance. Taking a glance at the hat Viru saw that she barely had five credits. Of course this was Nar Shaddaa. The common rabble would rather waste their money gambling. He would stand off to the side waiting for the women to finish her dance before clapping. "For one I must say that was some of the best dancing I've ever seen." Viru said complimenting the women.

Echo's clothes would weigh heavily on her body but they would not save her from the freezing cold of the rain and the freezing temperature. She was lucky not to have hypothermia already. She would turn in the direction that the voice had come from and not being able to see she would guess this man was a rather tall man in his 20's she was only 19 but she had to make a living somehow and she had taken to dancing not because it was easy but because she loved it. In a galaxy where she had nothing dance was always there for her and she doubted she would ever stop. She bowed to the man and had a seat wiping some of the wet hair from her face. She was petite and fragile, standing only 5'1" she could perform most dance moves even those that others could not. "Thank you." She said from her seated position as the rain grew a little stronger

Viru could feel the rain growing colder and as it did so a shiver retreated down his spine and goosebumps rose on his skin. Just how long has this women been out here? He wondered to himself as he examined her from head to toe. The girl was incredibly petite and small, Viru literally towered over her. If even he was getting cold out there she was probably in a much worse condition. If she didn't get out of the rain soon she'd probably end up in a hospital, and considering how she was banking on others giving her credits Viru was sure she wouldn't be able to foot a hospital bill if it came to that. Looking at the cloth across her eyes Viru could hazard a guess to what species she truly was. A Miraluka. Not incredibly rare, but still hard to find them off their homeworld, he had expected most to be jedi or Sith. "Mam if you would you can accompany me into the cafe, I think you need to get out of the cold." Viru said like a parent talking to their child. Even if he didn't have one, after being alive a hundred years one still acquired the tone when talking to younger people.

If she followed him into the cafe they'd be sat at a table in one of the corner booths. Milling all throughout the cafe were people that appeared to be around their age. Though looks could be deceiving, Viru knew that best. A bit of music played from the band on the far wall, while others gathered around to listen. Waving a hand to summon a waittress Viru handed her the menu. "I'd like a caf, get this young woman anything she likes. Preferably something warm."

As Echo followed the man into the cafe when the warm air hit her she began to shiver more than before. She took her seat across from the man at the table and wondered what kind of angel was sent to her rescue. She was freezing and shivering trying to warm up, she had been out in the rain for nearly 3 hours and she knew it wasn't good for her in fact she would probably end up in a hospital before the day was over. As the waitress looked at her she said "I-I'll hhhave the same."

When the waitress left to go complete their orders Viru leaned back in his seat perching precariously on the two hind legs of it, while one of his feet kept him balanced and from falling. Roaming eyes drinking in the young women's appearance he wondered what cruel fate ended up with her in the streets instead of in a studio somewhere. Or with her family at that. She looked barely old enough to have fled the nest at this point in her life. Did she even have any schooling in universities and such? Where is her family? Viru thought before finally letting the chair fall back forward. "So I don't remember catching your name." Viru said with the mannerisms he had developed over many years. "Do you happen to be from this planet or some other one?" Viru asked.

It didn't take the waitress long to come back with both their cups of caf, and as she sat them in front of their owners Viru offered another smile. "Thank you mam." The cups of caf were steaming hot their scent filling his nose. IT would be just what they needed. Missing one thing. Viru thought as he reached over grabbing the cream and sugar. Pouring them into the caf it seemed like he had more of them then the caf itself. A little mountain of sugar stood just above the glass and it took a lot of ferocious stirring for Viru to get it down. HE was never able to have such things when he had been sick. He was catching up on lost time. "Why are you dancing in the streets?"

As Echo looked around she smiled and shivered again she was sure she was sick and did not want to make it worse "I am from Naboo." She said looking at the man and she took a sip of her drink it was good just the way it was for her. She then looked back at Viru and smiled her single dimpled smile that the crowds seemed to always love. "I have to make money somehow"

"Well my dear there are many other ways to make money then dancing on the streets." Viru said raising the glass to his lips. The caf was still hot and he could feel it burn his top lip as he drank from it. The caf took effect near instantly as he drank it. He could feel slightly more aware as the cold was being fought away by the heat of his drink. His caf had been hot enough that it had also scorched his throat on the way down. Baring the pain Viru opened his mouth to speak but instead decided to take another gulp of his drink. His taste buds were assaulted by how sweet his caf was the sugar and cream overpowering the natural bitter taste of caf. How one could ever drink the stuff straight Viru would never know. Though he was pretty sure that if he kept drinking it the way he did he'd end up in a sugar coma.

"For example here on Nar Shadaa you could go gamble and hope that you strike it big. You could go to university then get out and get a job. There are plenty of companies hiring in the world. Most of all you could possibly go and join the jedi." Viru said as he drained the last of the caf from his cup. It was only then that one could see just how much sugar was truly in the glass. The bottom was coated with the wet white crystals that now looked like mush from being submerged in liquid for so long.

"One issue with the university and gambling I barely have enough credits to feed myself and that doesn't even happen very often." She says thinking about the life she had led thus far it had involved nothing but running and trying to provide for herself on a daily basis and starving for more than a week at a time but continuing to live on. She then smiled that same smile as before
