Intent: An escape pod for a soul. A way for NFUs to cheat death. A way for sentient beings to turn themselves into droids while still being themselves, rather than a copy.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Iron Crown Enterprises
Model: Iron Crown Eternity Circuit
Affiliation: Select customers
Modularity: No
Production: Limited
Material: Duraplast, durasteel, agrinium, Ssi-Ruuvi-derived electronics
Description:

OVERVIEW
The Eternity Circuit is a natural extension of Ssi-Ruuvi entechment technology. It functions as a wearable life insurance policy, regardless of whether one is Force-sensitive or not. It is compatible with many kinds of neural implant. Should the wearer die, their life essence will be anchored inside the Eternity Circuit. The Eternity Circuit can then be installed in compatible or modified droid bodies, including human replica droids, as well as other electronic interfaces. This is a minor variation on a canon process.

ACCESS RATIONALE
Iron Crown Enterprises has owned and operated the Lwhekk shipyards, the economic centre of the Ssi-Ruuvi star cluster, going back to the earliest days of the Lords of the Fringe. Iron Crown has pioneered the introduction of Ssi-Ruuvi technology to the galaxy (including entechment and paddle beam technology), inspiring a host of imitators and derivatives.

Selka Ventus has a long history in cybernetics and transhumanism, having led iBorg through several tiers' worth of growth. As a member of ICE's board of governors, she provided advice and consultation on this program.

TECHNICAL RATIONALE
This is fundamentally the same technology that was used on Molierre Cundertol eight centuries ago. Most entechment traps the soul and uses it as an energy source, but the Cundertol process allowed the soul to control the droid it inhabited.

LIMITATIONS
As demonstrated by the case of Callista Masana, who retained her Force connection while inhabiting a supercomputer, a subject can retain their Force-sensitivity, if any. However, as demonstrated by the case of Nichos Marr, who was transferred to a droid body but lost his Force connection, retaining Force-sensitivity is not guaranteed. (OOC note: This would be up to the writer.)

Although the module is quite durable, and an agrinium mesh provides some measure of protection against electromagnetic pulses and ion damage, the Eternity Circuit is far from indestructible. And if it gets destroyed...poof. (On the plus side, the Eternity Circuit is easily disguised and doesn't look like much, especially when plugged into a socketed neural implant.)

COMPATIBILITY
The Eternity Circuit is broadly compatible, both in terms of receiving the soul (the Eternity Circuit is wearable, and compatible with most neural implants), and in terms of post-death access (types of droid bodies, etc.).

Primary Source: Not influenced by any Chaos submissions. All relevant canon linked above.

The legacy of ICE, the Fringe, and the Ssi-Ruuvi is one that has characterized a literal mountain of threads. As such, this submission is well within the realm of what can be produced by Iron Crown present day. Furthermore, this submission has a good canon basis and isn't an attempt to bestow a game-breaking ability upon the user. Plus, this device has concrete limitations. As we live in an era where the average Master PC can literally do the same thing, along with the aforementioned, I see absolutely reason to not stamp this.

Pending approval.
