The Dominion of Rodia (Ideas)

As Rodia has been listed as a planet of importance by the powers that be, I brainstormed a few potential objectives for when we dominion it. If these work for y'all, then let's get this done. Would love nothing more to crank out a weekend dominion like the good ol'days.

That said, here's the game plan:

Plot: The rampage of Akala has had widespread effects across the Galaxy. Rodia is no exception. As this world was literally one of the first to become apart of the nation's earliest incarnation, the Techno Union now arrives to bring much-needed stability to the shaken world.

Objective A: Quell the Radicals
Location: Bio-Dome Alpha

The rapture claimed the lives of many of the native Rodians and Vong; including many that were vital to maintaining peace between the races. In the wake of the tragedy, a rogue cell has arisen among the Vong Colony: one dedicated to conquering the whole of the world under their heel. Violence has broken out, and it falls upon the Techno Union to silence this cell and return peace to the races.

Objective B: Kiss and Make Up
Location: Rodia's Capital

The tragedy, and subsequent rise of a rogue cell, has strained relations between the Rodians and the Vong. What's more, leadership of the planet as a whole has been thrown into chaos; for many now aspire to claim the top spot. Representatives from the Techno Union must now step in and rectify the situation. Establish new leadership. Restore peace by deporting the Vong! Let capitalism reign!

Objective C: Obsidian Farm
Location: Lambent Fields

During the Confederacy era, the native Vong population willingly shared Lambent crystals with the Templar Order. This resource is vital in the attainment of Vongsense, which can be employed against Yuuzhan Vong and the Force Dead alike. The Obsidian Order could make excellent use of this resource; and as such establishing a presence on the world is key. Erect a Citadel and begin the process of harvesting Lambent crystals/learning Vongsense.

Objective D: E'z Nuts.

Do your own thing.

Considering the Vong Rebellion about to break out in One Sith territory, keeping any Vong in our territories is an unnecessary risk.

Kill the violent ones. Deport the rest. Rodia belongs to the Rodians, not descendants of extra-galactic invaders that slaughtered the natives hundreds of years ago.

What is the chance we have anyone who will work to make the Vong understand a Force using Techno-heavy group without killing us?

Looking at you, Guy [member="Dagora-Kel"]

Keeping Vong anywhere, in any capacity, is a threat to the stability of our government. They may serve us for a time, but ultimately they only really serve their imaginary deities.

They will turn on us the moment they are able to, as we are seeing now.

Ultimately, the decision rests in hands other than mine. I am merely a means of brainstorming.

That said, middle ground: Keep a couple Shapers so that, if necessary, we can begin fighting Vong tech with Vong tech. And I suppose Isley can go rub elbows with the dudes who made the Dread Guard.

I would say that a means to destabilize or neutralize any future threat could be dev'd and written in to the dominion.

Perhaps the deployment of satellites that will bombard the Vong settlements if we need them to. Make them super stealthed and such. Or we could utilize some mining equipment and have something set up beneath their colony rigged to destroy it if we want to.

They are a resource, and as such I think we should weigh the potential for gain if we keep them as well as the potential risk.

I mean, I see the pros and cons of keeping Vong in our space. The trick is keeping them happy. [member="Raziel"] [member="Asher Valentine"] [member="Phade"] @Arha Martrey @Others, lets get some opinions here?

Vong are crazy. Anti-Tech, Anti Force.
CIS historically had friendly-ish Vong.

  • Wipe out the violent ones and the leadership. All of them.
  • Deport the rest. It matters little where they go- the farther, the better.
  • Indefinitely imprison some of their shapers and whatever other "technical" experts they have for interrogation and to better understand the Vong.
There is no feasible way to keep vehemently anti-technology theocrats happy in a technocratic corporatocracy. Historically, the Vong don't belong on Rodia. It's a place they earned through violence and conquest. They enslaved, tortured, and mutated significant parts of the planet's native population. Keeping them there is begging for a repetition of historical events.

We kept the Vong happy in the CIS days by a combination of listening to them and giving them space. The proposed objective would essentially accomplish both of those goals. The Vong Colony is just that: a colony and by Canon they have been rather chummy with the Rodians for quite some time. I think they are a resource that can be successfully maintained despite the ongoing Rebellion in the Core.

But, if not, we have my droids than they have bodies.

This is a plan that I could get behind. It reduces the risk to our government and gives us a way to keep the valuable part of the resource.

If we go with this plan, I would like to dev out the training of a specific containment unit to guard them, and I am sure the Research people would like some kind of scientists along to continue to learn about the lambent crystals and continue to gather more.

Conversely, if we go with another plan (like the one proposed by @Dagora-Kel), I am ok with that as well. In that case I would like to dev the training of a specific enforcement group trained and equipped to take down Vong in case the rebellion reaches this far.

Chummy because they are sincerely chummy or chummy because it would be prudent to be chummy? A resource that will rise up in rebellion or join their genocidal friends in the core at any given moment is not a resource worth keeping around. What the Yuuzhan-Vong consider their space is going to fast expand, and they'll be more inclined to take it with violence than anything else.

Slaves are nice. Figure out a way to control them with lethality. They step out of line, they die. Instantly.

Buddying up as the person above said (can't tell right now because mobile) could result in them aligning with the extremists in the core worlds. Not a chance I'm willing to take.

Let's not get crazy with words like "slavery." We're not keeping any of them beyond the Shapers, and that's only for interrogation and research. To actually use them for anything would just backfire.

I vote this is the way we go.

Do we have any black sites we can use? [member="Raziel"]
Can we?

If [member="Dagora-Kel"] wants Vong Tech he can beat it out of them. Or something.
