Points of Interest: Docking rings. A large number of these reach high into the air, floating above the district they're tethered to. Each is surrounded by a series of concentric rings, where self-propelled cargo containers detach themselves from transports and then connect to the rings. They are constantly surrounded by swarms of heavy duty speeders and drones that carry goods on to their final destinations. During day and night citizens on the upper levels can watch freighters descend from space.
Conform/Revolt: These citizens are relatively well behaved. Their lives are orderly and they are provided with enough. Whilst they accept imperial propaganda, the right motivation - such as pointing out how much less they are provided with compared to those in other districts - could be enough to incite rebellious activities.
Description: The docklands is comprised of a labyrinth of vertical blocks. These sometimes reach over a hundred stories. These blocks are frequently very narrow, with almost no corridors between levels. Instead housing will open directly onto the streets, with airspeeders typically used directly from the front door and only emergency turbolifts provided. This maximises space as land is now at a premium in the inner districts.
The levels were built over time, with the lower levels existing when the docks were on the ground. Housing is the cheapest at the lower levels which are essentially slums, whilst many penthouse suites currently attract a premium.
The Docklands are still known as a cultural hub of Imperial Centre. The district is a multicultural mix and this is reflected in the range of entertainment districts. Whilst Imperial Citizens are not afforded much leisure time in a week, the lower classes are permitted to blow off steam as they wish. There are restaurants to suite all tastes and budgets.
History: Once upon a time the docklands were on the edge of the new Imperial Centre. The Emperor personally decided that to increase security in his new capital, that all transport would be terminated in space. Cargo and personnel would undergo extensive security checks and sweeps before taking automated transports down to the ground. A large housing district built up around this area, supplying workers to load and unload cargo.
Soon, the city expanded far beyond the docks. Land was at a premium, but the dockyards needed more capacity. Instead of moving outside the city limits, the dockyards were brought above the ground. Automated and highly efficient docking systems were floated into the air, only tethered to the city below. Drones were mostly used to transport goods from these containers to the city below.
The land was sold off for housing for a remarkable sum of credits. Over time the district was renovated many times. However, instead of completely rebuilding, new layers were simply built over the last.
