Brrrrring. Brrrrring.

Yuri's comms were ringing.

Someone was calling.

The cat had a boon to call in.

NAR SHADDAA | CANTINA
TAGS: Jonyna Si Jonyna Si

The last few days were a strange one for the Hound. First a trip with Carduul to fix a mistake, then an incredibly important gig, he was glad that he decided to stick around on Nar Shaddaa for a few days longer when he received a hail from his most tolerable furball. He sent a simple message back to Jonyna, telling her to meet him with a location attached.

The location in question was the most reputable and respectable of all for doing business and catching up.

A dark and dreary cantina.

It wasn't an accidental pick, he had to conduct some business and it was close to his apartment. Not to mention its vicinity to a nearby spaceport to keep things simple. With a beer on the table and a cigarette in hand, Yuri let out a long sigh as he sank deeper into his hoodie. Whatever the cat had to say, he knew it wasn't going to be simple or quick so enjoying the peace while it lasted was a priority.

He glanced down at his helmet staring back at him. He didn't have his full kit on, just the cuirass and vambraces in case someone thought they could get smart. He looked more like a very lucky mercenary than a Mandalorian, which suited him just fine. The state of the galaxy was making travel difficult for him, any opportunity to reduce eyes on him was a welcome one.

A hand idly rested on Peace against his thigh as he stared at the door. For a moment he considered pulling a prank on her as soon as she walked through the door, but he let the temptation go.

Nar Shaddaa was one of those planets Jonyna was more familiar with than she'd ever admit. She'd been here for every reason under the book, none of which were good.

It was always business. Sometimes official, more often than not, noneofya.

As the Reaper landed, she let out a breath. It was easy for her to feel that anger welling up in her, but she was better than that despite what many believed. What many saw.

Entering that seedy cantina, her eyes scanned the room, before walking over to and taking a seat across from them.

"So how's life?"
She asked, a clear attempt to break the ice before she threw the fastball at him.

Hound from the Underground
The furball finally found her way to the cantina. Yuri motioned for another drink as Jonyna joined him by the booth, immediately beginning with small talk. He decided to roll with it, a light wave accompanying his laugh. "Goin' good. Factory's crankin', shipyards are operational. The girlfriend's happy and I got you primed to get on my nerves." He answered happily.

But a check-up wasn't the reason they were meeting.

Yuri sat forward, hand around his drink as he studied Jonyna's features. "What's the story? You ain't ever meetin' up for a party, so I know you didn't just come to see how I'm doin'." He remarked, thanking the waitress as Jonyna's drink arrived.

Comms were quiet between them. Yuri wasn't innocent, but he made sure she got her share of weapons and ordnance the moment the Ironworks were up and running. No, she had a problem that needed fixing. He sat back again, taking a long sip. "You need someone killed or a buildin' blown up?" He asked flatly. The jokes could wait for a few moments.

Jonyna let out a sigh, pulling a holo-puck out of her coat, and sliding it across the table. It showed the recent destruction of the Vanguard's Burden in full glory, including Sularen's flagship.

"Sularen's blowing up your ships. Under my employment. He's made a statement. He wants a challenge? I want his bloody uniform mounted in my ship. I've got the WSR, Strill, even the old TAC contacts looking for him. I want you on that list too. I plan to pin him down next time I get the chance and hit him with enough munitions that his men will mistake the turbolaser fire for raindrops."

Yuri could feel the tension in her voice. It wasn't anger, it was patient unyielding discipline. Merciless justice.

Hound from the Underground
Yuri took a long toke from his smoke as Jonyna explained her predicament, still the same target she was hunting. "Saw the report. I'll give ya a twenty percent discount, don't worry." He joked with a dry snicker, a grim joke to be sure. But the humour didn't reach his eyes. He glanced over at a nearby patron, waiting for him to pass their table before continuing.

"Still the same target, huh? I can't guarantee any help from my people, we just got back from fightin' Sith in the core. But I'll help where I can." He explained. Something still didn't sit right.

Looking back at Jonyna, he gave a shrug. "Got any idea of his patterns? Who he's fightin' for, where he's moving around? Destroyers and cruisers are high maintenance, he's gotta be makin' port to refit and refuel somewhere." He asked, hoping to piece a plan together. For all intents and purposes, Sularen and Jonyna were rivals. Endlessly pestering and hunting each other down. Perhaps a way to draw the old commander out, lure him into an ambush?

"Have you tried luring him out? Can help you set something up... or does he have intel on your movement?" He continued, sitting forward once more.

"Oh, I already know where he is." Jonyna said darkly. "I've been tracking him on and off for months. the fact he ambushed one of our freighters was just the last straw. I'm coordinating with some folks out in the Unknown Regions. You're welcome to join us if you want. Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol would definitely enjoy that. For now though, the plan is to lure him into a honeypot. Something he can't resist. I'm thinking some sort of heavy rebel presence that are mocking him, close enough to his home base on Cholgalla he can't ignore. You remember our little liberation of Kessel, right?"

Hound from the Underground
Jonyna was uncharacteristically happy about this raid, enough to put Yuri on edge. But the plan was sound, some kind of bait to draw the old commander out was likely their best chance. He had never dealt with the man, but the name popped up on enough action reports to give him an idea of Sularen's character.

There was one issue, though.

"I can't tell who's insulting whose intelligence right now." He remarked, finishing his beer. "The man's a cowardly maniac, gloriously so. I've read reports of Sith who got more guts than him... at least, I think so. There's an unhealthy amount of maniacs running around lately." He shrugged and sunk back in his seat. An inkling of a plan was surfacing, though. He looked back at Jonyna after a few moments. "I wasn't there for Kessel, I got there after. But... copyin' operations ain't a good idea. What if..." He fell quiet, scrounging with a fresh smoke as he tried to gather the right words.

He finally looked back at the cat. "Weapons shipment." He muttered. "Resupply cache, we'll get some convoys going. Don't spook him. I got cruisers based on the freighter design, they can fight and they look identical. Let him attack, then we take him. If you're sayin' you got the head honchos of Breshig onboard, it shouldn't be too hard to put on a show." He was simply spit balling, but it wasn't impossible to draw someone like that out. He did, however, have one detail amiss.

"Is there a Saram Kote onboard, by any chance?" He asked with a hushed voice, leaning in close.

Jonyna mulled over it. She knew whatever they did, Sully would be a slippery little cockroach. A bastard who wouldn't die.

"We'll need to be careful regardless. As for Saram, yeah, I just signed a hell of a contract with Strill." Jonyna pouted. "I can't risk the imperials burning my shipping company to the ground. Strill does good work, and I trust them. Why?"

Jonyna wasn't entirely opposed to his plan, though they both knew it was far from a guarantee to catch the warlord. She went on to explain her relationship with the mercenaries, earning an impressed nod from the Hound. They did good work, he knew of their reputation and he worked with them on one or two occasions. Jonyna made a good call with that contract.

But that wasn't what Yuri cared about.

He gave a shrug and finished his drink. "No particular reason. Worked with her and her squad in the past, once or twice. Wouldn't mind working with 'em again if needed." He answered casually, maintaining the cool façade the cat could expect from him. But she would likely also be able to sense the hint of embarrassment just below the surface.

"Come on, let's take a walk. This place stinks." He remarked, setting a few credits on the table as he slid out of the booth. Only once they were in the streets did Yuri turn his attention back to Jonyna. "So what's your plan? I know you wouldn't fly out all this way just to tell me some ships blew up. You need something done, or do ya wanna sign another big contract?" He asked, flashing her a toothy grin. He had to admit that he was a little bit jealous over the Strill contract.

His pettier side also wouldn't mind a juicy arms contract, but ego wouldn't let him say it outright.

Jonyna nodded, quietly following behind. As they walked, Jonyna seemed to be chewing on something internally.

"...I'm sick of watching the galaxy burn because the same three monsters keep slipping through our fingers. The reason I came is simple. I'm putting together a taskforce of sort. I want Sularen's head mounted on a pike. He's made a point to keep himself at arm's length. I wanna start stripping away his resources. Cut those arms to ribbons and put him in a corner. To do that? I need allies. You and Strill know how to work together, and you're both reliable."

Hound from the Underground
Idly walking alongside the cat, Yuri listened to Jonyna's plan while golden eyes scanned their surroundings. This fight had been going on for years, he knew of her fight against Sularen and the remaining imperial presence in the galaxy. It was the reason she was so happy to help him steal a chunk of an orbital yard for the Ironworks.

"I'm onboard. Hell, I owe that much after you helped me. You're the reason the family business is workin' again. Only fair I return the favour." He answered with a nod, sparing a glance at Jonyna. Though there was another question on the Hound's mind. He came to a halt and faced the cat. "What about the rest? Sularen's a problem, yeah, but have you seen the Core? Kriff, those moon-jockeys on Mandalore have been brutalizin' people and nailing Jedi to planks for months now. Then you got the Sith diggin' their heels into the Core." He explained, arms folded.

She couldn't be that naïve to just hunt down one person.

"Besides, I'm sure your white purgill's helpin' at least one of those out. I'll gladly help ya hunt the chakaar down but ya can't be tellin' me that's all you're after." He continued with a shrug, leaning against a wall behind him.

"...I wanna tear them all down, brick by brick. My endgoal? Rip apart Carnifex's dynasty and burn it to the ground. Show the galaxy the monsters that haunt the dark aren't as invincible as they paint themselves. I'm sick of it, Yuri. I'm sick of acting like I'm a scared little kitten all over again. I wanna burn down the sith and show them how they should fear the light."

There was a flame in her eyes, one that hadn't been there in a long time.

She intended to turn the galaxy upside down.

Hound from the Underground
It had been a minute since Yuri saw the cat this worked up, the whole situation in the galaxy was clearly getting to her. She confirmed his hopes, she didn't want to stop at just one target. She had the scope and she most certainly had the ambition to see her promise through. He simply couldn't help but worry if she had the support to make her dream a reality.

The Hound gave a nod, staring off with folded arms for a moment. "With ya there." He muttered with a sigh. The Sith were never his enemy. As a kid they were all but eradicated, driven into their little corner of the galaxy. The Jedi were his enemy, as bone-headed as that little crusade was, but then he became his own enemy. The Sith were new to him.

Apart from Coruscant, he had never crossed paths with them, let alone waged war against them. But it went to show how much things changed in the last ten years. Now the Sith were expanding, digging their heels into the Core and infecting his people in their home turf. "Never faced Sith before. But I'm sure they die just as easy as Jedi." He remarked, shooting a toothy grin at Jonyna. "I'm with ya, hairball. Can't guarantee any infrastructure but if you need guns, ships and manpower, you know where to find me. The Fleet's got its own fight goin' against those skugs in the Core." He explained, fishing out a fresh smoke from one of his pouches.

"What about your buddies on Naboo?" He asked with eyes on her while his vambrace sparked a flame. He took a long drag and rested his head back, letting the nicotine do its thing. "From what I've seen, they don't look real worried about their present encirclement." He took another puff and held the smoke out for Jonyna in invitation. "You gonna have Order support on this new crusade or is this a solo queue?" He asked her with a tilt of his head.

"...I've kept my distance from Naboo. They aren't the same order who welcomed me back into the galaxy. It's all unfamiliar faces. I poked in to see what their whole 'vanguard' thing was, and their leader had no idea who I was. A former councilwoman. Jedi master. Didn't even know my name." Jonyna growled, rolling her eyes in annoyance. "If they make moves, I'll be there, but I can't count on them to help me. they clearly don't know enough to care."

Hound from the Underground
Yuri withdrew his cigarette with a shrug, Jonyna didn't seem all that eager to share in his bad habit. He listened with a brewing snicker at the Jedi's annoyance toward her Order. If the history books were anything to go by, there was a certain similarity between their respective people. "All you need now is for someone to claim to be the true leader and cause a civil war." He quipped with a toothy chuckle.

He turned to walk but stopped for a beat. "I'm headin' off. If ya want to come blow off some steam... maybe make some comparatively bad decisions... you can hit me up. I'll be planetside for a little while, got some business to take care of." He explained as he gave her a two-finger salute. "It's good to see ya again, hairball! Next bad idea you think up, gimme a call." He greeted her with a smile in his voice.

As much as he hated to admit it, he had a friend in the Jedi master.

All he needed to do was witness her getting wasted. But that was a goal for a future adventure. They had work to do and a lot of bodies to pile up first.
