----------------------------------------------------------------

  • Permafrost Crystal - A single round Permafrost Crystal is embedded in the center of the crown.

  • Songsteel Spires - The five main spires that jut up from the edge of the crown are comprised of Songsteel, and often produce a melodic hum when rubbed or otherwise lightly struck.

..:: Strengths ::..
----------------------------------------------------------------

Limited Telepathic Field - While wearing this ancient crown, the individual taps into a unique telepathic field which permits said individual to use a limited telepathy with members of its own kind. However this power is not such as to permit the individual to read the minds of others or even telepathically project feelings, convey messages, or otherwise contact individuals that are not of the Sanguinius Vampirika species (Greater or Lesser). When worn by a member of the Sanguinius Vampirika species, it permits that individual to communicate with any member of the Vampirika species across any distance with little to no limitation (unless an individual is wearing or utilizing some means to close their mind off from others). Likewise, it is only a one way connection, meaning that the wearer may issue commands, edicts, messages, etc etc, however they cannot maintain a conversation, nor can the individual being contact send messages back.

Taste of the Force - With enough focus the individual that wears this heavy crown upon their brow is granted a taste of the force (even if they are a latent Force Sensitive, or has no history of Force Sensitivity in their bloodline). The unique combination of the Permafrost Crystal and the Songsteel create an amplifier that otherwise opens one up more to the living force. However it can only do so much, and those powers or at least skill levels of those that are donning the crown for the first time are as powerful as an untrained Force Sensitive just discovering their powers; it is only through continued wearing of the crown and practice can one further unlock its potential.

  • The Knight Effect - When worn by those that are not open to the force or otherwise have no former training, the crown begins to change them, opening to the Force. For those that have had previous training they find that their own capabilities begin to open further. A Knight that focuses on Lightsaber combat finds their motions more fluid, their speed enhanced. Those that focus upon the Force find their endurance greatly increased, permitting them to further their own abilities.

  • The Master's Power - While the crown opens some to the force and enhances others, it provides a great boon to those that are already Masters of the Force. The crown opens their mind further to permit them the chance to focus upon and find the greater mysteries of the force. When worn upon a world with a Force Nexus, the wearer can see a physical manifestation of the force.

Song Steel Spires - The five main spires that jut up from the crown are made of Songsteel, making them resistant to lightsaber strikes.

Font of the Force - Due to how it was created, the Crown serves as a sort of Reserve of Force Energy. Those that wear the crown (be they Vampirika or another species), can tap into this reserve of energy. However, it is not an unlimited source of power, as at some point the reserve will be depleted (and need recharging, either by a Force User undergoing deep meditation while wearing the crown, or otherwise introducing the crown to a Force Nexus).
  • If the wearer is cautious and utilizes low level force powers (i.e. Force Push / Pull, Force Speed, etc etc) the reserve of the crown can be drawn upon up to Eight times before it needs to be recharged.

  • If the wearer is not cautious and utilizes higher level force powers (i.e. Force Lightning), the reserve of the crown can be drawn upon up to Three times before it needs to be recharged.

  • The Reserve however is not one that can just be drawn from at all times. If an individual has recently drawn from the reserve, they must wait before being able to draw from it once again (i.e. If used in a PvP thread, when an individual draws from the reserve, they must wait at least Two IC posts [if used for a low level ability as mentioned above] or they must wait at least Five IC posts [if used for a higher level ability as mentioned above]).

..:: Weaknesses ::..
----------------------------------------------------------------

Limited Telepathic Field - For those first tapping into the field, they can easily be overcome by the voices, becoming disabled or otherwise debilitated while using the crown without proper training or exposure. Even when one has come to be accustomed to wearing the crown, there is always, what is described as white-noise, hissing in the background.

Taste of the Force - The crown itself opens an individual to the living force, strengthening the connection of those already connected to the force and opening it to those that were otherwise closed off (however it does nothing for those that are Force Dead). Those that are not use to such a connection can find themselves mentally strained, with the artifact causing headaches, bloody noses, nausea and a myriad of other side effects that can inhibit the individual. It is only through prolonged exposure and continued training and study of the artifact can one mitigated these effects; even then mild headaches often persist.

The Voices of the Past - It took a thousand days for five masters and their apprentices to pour themselves and dedicated their focus to the Force Alchemy used to create this crown. A side effect of that endeavor is countless voices, whispering constantly in the ear of those that don the crown. Unlike the voices heard through the telepathy, these can not be shut out and continue to encourage its wearer towards some greater or otherwise nefarious destiny.

Non-Resistant - While the main spires of the crown are constructed from Songsteel, much of the crown is crafted from Platinum and Silver with a thin layer of Beryllius to give it a more antiquated appearance. Thin sheets of lapis are pressed into recesses around the crown to draw more attention to the central Permafrost Crystal. While the spires could potentially sustain a strike from a lightsaber, the rest of the crown is otherwise incapable of such a feat, nor would it provide any additional protection against anything other than a glancing blow from a blaster bolt.

Fatigue - Even though the crown opens others to the force or otherwise bolsters their abilities, the continued use can begin to drain the wearer of the crown. The longer they sling Force Powers about or call upon the reserves of the crown, the quickly they begin to deteriorate. Eventually they fall to the fatigue of how draining the crown can be.

Limit Inhibitor - If one were to look inside of the crown, they would see a series of small, protruding claw like constructs within the internal structure. When the crown is worn, these claw like constructs dig into the wearer's scalp, producing a dull and constant pain. In this way, it prevents an individual that is wearing the crown from being able to fully concentrate, meaning that those greater Force Abilities that require a large amount of concentration are otherwise prevented from being utilized by the wearer of the crown.

Legion - Slowly over time the more an individual wears the crown the more they begin to lose what makes them who they are. In time when worn over successive years they may find themselves and refer to themselves as a singular entity of many rather than as a being of one.

Silver - Even though many of the Vampirika Species have an allergy to Silver, there is still trace amounts of silver in the crown. These trace amounts are enough to cause a mild burning; however this is due in part to ensure that the ruler currently wearing the crown understand just how much of a burden ruling may be and to ensure that they rule justly.

Nullify - The Crown itself would cease to function properly if it were to be introduced to a any field that would otherwise mitigate or cut a Force User off from the Force. Thus its powers would be rendered untouchable and the crown would go from artifact to simple crown.

..:: Description ::..
----------------------------------------------------------------

At the height of its power, the Slave Empire founded on Akeldama stretched out across Wild Space, reaching to various neighboring systems and alliances. They held trade routes that connected them to much of the known galaxy, drawing in wealth, advisers, and all manner of species and individuals of note from across the galaxy. It was the first Queen of Akeldama, Calista Carpathian that bid her greatest artisans, advisers, and masters of the force to craft for her a unique crown to be passed from one generator to another.

What was created with a piece of such beauty and power that even when it came time for her to pass the throne to those that would succeed her, she had difficulty passing the crown with the throne. Handcrafted from platinum and silver, its primary spires are crafted from pieces of songsteel that sing when lightly touched or struck. A single brilliant Permafrost Crystal was inlaid within the center of the crown, while thin sheets of lapis were lightly pressed into molds around the crown. The greatest Force Users that the Empire could draw to its court were tasked with imbuing the crown with the Force, a task not so easily completed.

For a thousand days, five Force Masters and their Apprentices slaved over the crown until at long last the crown itself drew to it the Living Force; though there was a cost. Calista Carpathian was nearly driven mad from the voices she heard while wearing the crown, and was nearly lost to madness when the pull of the crown was too much. It was only through sheer force of will was the first queen and commissioner of the great crown able to break her link to and pass the crown to her successor.

Over the years that the Slave Empire of Akeldama flourished, the Crown of Akeldama was always upon the brow of its ruler. Some were able to withstand its effects, drawing power from the Force and thus expanding Akeldama and its power across Wild Space. Others became corrupted by the power of the Crown, falling to madness and insanity with mad attempts at audacious plans to make the Vampirika the reigning species. The most well known holder of the crown was Alish Moretti, the last Emperor of the Slave Empire of Akeldama, who watched as his Empire burned around him.

It is said that the crown itself remains upon his body, fused to the desiccated corpse of the ancient vampire who still remains seated upon his ancient throne in Hollow Bastion. What else remains though protecting that ancient crown is unknown and even then it is still a legend, thus is it truly still upon Akeldama or has it been claimed by looters from ages ago?

The crown's abilities and thus those granted to the individual that carries the crown upon their brow are stunning and overwhelming at the same time. Those that wear the crown hear the voices of their people from across the void of space, each voice as loud as a scream in one's ear and can easily overwhelm those not ready for such power. It often drives many mad upon hearing those voices, though those that are able to focus, to block out the cacophonous roar of voices can focus on only those they wish to hear. This though takes time, and continued practice with the crown.

Likewise, it is unknown exactly how the crown opens the individuals to the force (most likely an effect of the Alchemy placed upon the crown), it is still a power that can overwhelm and corrupt its wearer. Even then while those that study the crown, practice wearing it and otherwise push themselves to unlock more of their connection can match many Knights, they can not truly become Masters in a true sense. Even then with the more power that an individual unlocks, the more likely they are to fall to the corruptions and whispers within the helm itself.

Few if any historical texts on the crown have survived, and those few have imparted small amounts of information on the crown itself. Much of that information is merely description on the crown as well as how those that had worn the crown were seen as righteous rulers in their own rights. Even few texts explain finer details of the crown, including its powers.

One such text explains that if the crown were to be worn by an individual not of the Vampirika species, they would be capable of drawing upon the Force Reserve of the crown, however much of its capabilities would otherwise be locked to those individuals. Meaning that only a member of the Vampirika species would be able to tap into the telepathic field; however the crown would whisper to those not of the Vampirika species to bring it to one of its own kind so that it may be worn by a worthy individual.

  • So only the spires are made from Songstell? The main body of the crown is silver / beryllium / platinum?
  • If so, please list which parts of the crown are lightsaber and blaster resistant, as well as which aren't – both of these should be under the Strengths / Weaknesses section.

  • What happens when it's worn by someone who's already Force sensitive? When it's worn by a Knight? What about a Master?
  • What is the absolute maximum limit of the "crown's potential", regardless of who's wearing it?

  • To clarify: this allows the wearer to hear any and all members of the Vampirika species, across any distance, with no limitations?
  1. Please add the Weight and Quality sections to the template, and fill them out accordingly.
  2. I'd like to see some additional Weaknesses here. The ones you have are all very dependent on the writer themselves, and stuff like "the user needs time to learn" is always glossed over when it comes to PvP situations. I'd like something actionable that your writing partners can fight against.

@mention me with edits or questions.

Edits have been made
  • Described the sections of the crown and which materials are used where
  • Explained the Crown's effect on Knight and Master rank individuals
  • Crown's Potential has been expanded upon (at least I believe it has - if I am wrong, please elaborate more as to what you meant)
  • Telepathic Field has been edited for clarification
  • Weight and Quality Section added
  • Additional weaknesses added

Limit Inhibitor - The crown itself strangely can limit the capabilities of the individual wearing the crown. This means that while an opponent may be capable of unleashing a Force Storm, the wearer of the crown would otherwise find themselves incapable of manifesting a powerful enough effect to counter.
  • I'm not sure I understand how this 'limit' works. When does it come into play? What triggers it? Please elaborate.

  • I'd like some kind of limitation here. Yes, it's an unique artifact, but that's still a whole species we're talking about here. A single mind shouldn't be able to handle that kind of metal input without breaking down within minutes. That's still many thousands of sentient individuals, all connected to a single mind. I just don't see this working without some failsafe for the wearer.
  • It would be much more feasible – and approvable – if you made this a one-way connection. Only the wearer of the crown can issue messages to the species, but none of them can actually answer or hold conversation with this person. How does that sound to you?

Those that focus upon the Force find their endurance greatly increased, permitting them to further their own abilities.
  • So the Crown basically functions as a reserve of Force energy, if you will. For those who aren't yet trained, it gets them started on that path; for those who already wield the Force with some proficiency (Knights, Masters), it gives them an additional reserve from which they can draw. I'd like to know what's the limit of this reserve, because I don't want to see someone rolling around a battlefield claiming it gives them Unlimited Power.
  • At some point in combat, this reserve should run out. It's fine if it's rechargeable, just give it a limit.

  1. You have silver under materials, but the Sanguinius Vampirika species has a weakness to silver in some of their bloodlines. While that's fine by itself, I just felt it was worth pointing out. If you're keeping the silver, please list this potential allergy under Weaknesses.
  2. I'd also like to know what happens if a member of a different species dons this crown.
  3. What happens if the crown is exposed to Force nullifying effects (Ysalamiri, Voidstone, etc.)?

Edits have been made
  • Limit Inhibitor expanded upon
  • Telepathic Field made one way as suggested
  • Force Reserve given a limit
  • Silver added as a weakness
  • Additional Description added to explain what happens if another species wears the crown
  • Additional Description added to explain what happens when introduced to a Force Nullifying effect

  • Rereading my request, I perhaps wasn't clear enough, so I bolded the stuff above that I think is problematic.
  • I meant "one-way connection" in the sense that the wearer of the crown can't hear the others – but the others will hear any commands issued by the wearer. Basically like giving an announcement over, say, the speakers in a school? The guy saying it has no idea what the people on the other side are saying back / commenting – he's just conveying a message.

Limit Inhibitor - The crown itself strangely can limit the capabilities of the individual wearing the crown. This means that while an opponent may be capable of unleashing a Force Storm, the wearer of the crown would otherwise find themselves incapable of manifesting a powerful enough effect to counter. This effect is achieved in a similar way in which access to the deeper secrets of a Holocron is limited by its gatekeeper. When the crown was created, a small portion of the very souls of those that created the crown was also forged into the crown, it is these remnants, these slivers of the creators that hold back and limit the individual unless they truly believe the individual is ready.
  • Not sure how valid a weakness this is in its current state. It's completely up to the writer to decide when their character is "ready" – furthermore, if the crown is already being worn by someone proficient in the Force, they don't really need its reserves to manifest "countering effects".
  • In conjunction with the fact that all the other weaknesses – save for the partial lack of lightsaber resistance – are writer-based or circumstantial, I'd like you to add or reforge a few of them to be more viable in PvP terms.
  • Maybe make the Fatigue one a fixed thing – draw on the crown's power a certain amount of times, and it tires you. Or maybe there has to be a pause in between individual draws on its Force reserves, or it won't work, etc. Give me something that your potential opponents can work with.

Under the most dire of circumstances, such as a battle, the reserve can last for up to, half a day, if used sparingly. However if an individual were to disregard and sense of 'saving energy' the reserve would run out within two hours.
  • In terms of Chaos PvP, which is what this is being balanced for, "two hours" might as well be an eternity. Most duels last a couple minutes at best. Two hours effectively gives you a power boost for the duration of a whole invasion, and I'm sure you understand why I can't approve that.
  • Please reduce the duration/depth of these reserves.

Additional Edits made
  • The Telepathic Ability should be satisfactory in its explanation.
  • Limit Inhibitor has been redesigned and edited.
  • Fatigue effect has been edited
  • Nullifying has been added to the weaknesses
  • Use of the Reserve and wait times have been added.

Anyways, looks good to me. Thank you for your cooperation. :)

Approved. Pending secondary approval.

Just to clarify, this item is not giving an individual who is otherwise not Force Sensitive unfettered access to any and all Force powers across the board, correct? In other words, this does not simply give NFU Joe the ability and knowledge to cast Force Lightning or create Force Storms because he feels like it's a good time to do it. It is only providing energy. Is that accurate?

If an NFU or Latent Force Sensitive were to wear the crown, it would open them up to and begin them on the path of the Force. However this would not give them the knowledge or unfettered access to any and all Force Powers. They would still have to seek out Masters and learn those powers or the basics (if they do not know them) from another Force Users. Beyond that, the Crown provides energy and those abilities as mentioned if one is specifically a member of the Vampirika species.
