OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To sub the Copero Shipyards, the largest in Chiss Space, for the Chiss Ascendancy
  • Canon: Copero Shipyards
  • Links: N/A
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyards Name: Copero Shipyards
  • Classification: Planetary Shipyards
  • Location: Copero
  • Affiliation: The Chiss Ascendancy; House Mitth
  • Population: Heavily Staffed
  • Accessibility: The Copero Shipyards serve as the largest starship manufacturing complex in the Chiss Ascendancy, providing both public and military services to the Chiss population. It has specific docking areas for public vessels, as well as restricted docking areas for military vessels. The shipyard is protected by weapons platforms, turret emplacements and the Mitth Phalanx of Copero (House-specific defense fleet). Given the importance of the shipyards, the Mitth Phalanx has been granted use of military-grade vessels for improved security in the sector.
  • Description: The first impression of the Copero Shipyards is the sheer size. While not as large as an orbital ring, as a singular facility is is capable of docking multiple Chiss Star Destroyers of lengths of 5,000m with ease. Being the largest starship production facility in Chiss Space, it is capable of producing multiple destroyer-class starships simultaneously, and remains an important Chiss Ascendancy resources.
Following the partial destruction of the shipyards at the hands of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, while under the control of the Jen'ari Empire, the defensive capabilities have been both overhauled and improved along with repairs. It now boasts multiple weapons platforms, turret emplacements and shielding that can be activated when under attack. Additionally, the shipyards were expanded during the renovation, to further increase docking size, production lines and improve on overall efficiency.

For centuries the Copero Shipyards have been under the control of the local House of Copero, House Mitth, and considering the continuous requirement for starship building and maintenance, it has allowed Mitth to profit considerably. Following the tragic loss of the previous Shipyard Supervisor, the next claimant to ownership of the facility is Mitth'orn'eruod ([member=Thorne]).

OPERATIONS INFORMATION
  • Production: Capital ships of varying class
  • Specialty: Capital starships for the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet, outfitted to produce warships simultaneously
  • Output: The shipyards are capable of mass-producing Star Destroyers, while larger ships like Battlecruisers have a slower production time. Currently the shipyards are Dreadnought production capable, but these are very uncommon.
  • Market: The shipyards can provide Chiss Space with public sales of non-military Corvettes and Frigates, which are used in House Phalanxes for colonial planet protection that are under individual House control, but the focus is certainly military vessels.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Copero Shipyards points of interest include:
  • Central Complex: The large, dome-shaped central complex at the top of the shipyards structure is where numerous behind-the-scenes tasks are completed. These range from shipyard command, communications, resource storage, cargo processing, maintenance crew housing and other amenities for organizing and running the facility.
  • Central Complex Delivery Ring: Around the radius of the central complex is the delivery ring, which has numerous reinforced and shielded hangar doors, designed to ferry in resources and supplies brought to the shipyards from Copero or surrounding systems. The rings connect to the internal central complex hub, allowing for processing and more long-term storage as needed.
  • Manufacturing Ring: Below the central complex is a secondary ring, where all manufacturing of small systems and components takes place, before being sent out to each production arm for warship installation.
  • Production Arms: The three dual-sided production arms that extend outward from the shipyards, beneath the central hub and its rings, are where the primary starship construction phase takes place. The arms house multiple construction hubs, allowing simultaneous starship building, and provide enough space to comfortably fit multiples of the CEDF Battlecruisers throughout production.
  • Asteroid Cluster: Some distance away from the shipyards is an asteroid cluster, which casually follows the orbit of Copero and the shipyard. Any stray asteroids that escape the cluster are promptly destroyed, to avoid damage to the facility, though they remain in place for reasons determined by the CEDF, instead of being removed.
SECURITY
The Copero Shipyards have a rating of maximum, composed of the following:
  • Defensive Shipyard Emplacements:
    Kyber-focused Megamaser Batteries
  • Heavy Ion Cannon Batteries
  • Missile Launcher Banks
  • Conner Net Launcher Banks
  • Point-defense Laser & Ion Cannons
  • Anti-missile Octets
  • Flak Cannons
  • Quad Maser Cannons
  • Tractor Beam Projectors
  • Interdiction Field Generators
  • Molecular, Particle & Deflector Shield Generators

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
For centuries, since the earlier days of the Chiss Ascendancy, the Copero Shipyards have been a staple of the production force behind the availability of Chiss vessels in Chiss Space. The facility started out providing small freighters, corvettes and frigates, but in time expanded and improved manufacturing lines, increasing starship class capacity. As with all things, technological improvements increased production time, simplified factory requirements, and the shipyards began earning a solid reputation for their work and speed.

Numerous Houses have owned the Copero Shipyards since the infancy of the Ascendancy, but in the last several centuries it has fallen to House Mitth to complete the task. Since the dark times, the Mitth have worked both diligently and effectively to continue expanding and pursuing perfection in their shipyard efforts. The social reasons for such incredible work ethic is obvious, due to being the largest producer of vessels for the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet; but the real reason House Mitth continue to strive is to undo the dishonor bestowed on them from the actions of Mitth'raw'nuruodo - specifically his exile for breaking Ascendancy laws and protocol - in the past. Their main claim on advancement was by investing enough financial capital to allow multiple warships to be produced simultaneously, through a reworking of the docking and factory structures to encompass service/production arms.

Unfortunately, the Copero system has not had a peaceful history. In the past, the shipyards have been held by foreign occupiers, such as the Iron Empire and the Jen'ari Empire. During these brief incursions into Chiss Space, such governments instituted their own plans and methods for starship design, altering how the manufacturing crews operated and even outright replacing them. Still, throughout it all, House Mitth managed to maintain operational supervisory of the shipyards, due to experience and familiarity. With the dissolution of the Iron Empire, the shipyards were further advanced and expanded, utilizing elements of their production means, while also having Chiss engineers replace defunct systems and methods with newly developed ones.

For a time, the Chiss controlled shipyards continued to make technological improvements. Again, shipyard size was expanded on, allowing for larger and larger warship classes to be built. Additional security was placed in-system also, to better defend against potential threats, especially considering the importance of the shipyards to CEDF operations and supply.

However, it seemed history was doomed to repeat itself, as the Jen'ari Empire installed themselves in Chiss Space through traitorous Aristocra. The consequent civil war that followed, which also included the Sith Empire and Confederacy of Independent Systems, brought an end to the reign of the Jen'ari Empire; yet, in the process, a large majority of the Copero Shipyards was destroyed by the CIS, resulting in thousands of crew deaths including the Mitth facility supervisor. The supervisor had been Mitth'aan'eruod, father to Mitth'orn'eruod ([member="Thorne"]), and he had been incinerated when one of the shipyards reactors exploded.

In the aftermath of the CIS massacre on Copero, in which numerous civilians and non-combatant Chiss were murdered, the capital of Copero, Copero City, was left in a devastated state. House Mitth, represented by Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod, once again assumed control of what remained of the Copero Shipyards, enacting repairs with assistance from the Defense Hierarchy. Both knew the importance of having the largest Chiss shipyard operational, especially having successfully concluded a civil war against an occupying force, and it became a priority to get fleet production back up to standard.

As a result, the Ascendancy poured near endless resources, personnel and finance into the reconstruction project. The explosion that had damaged the upper portion of the shipyards had been focused enough to allow surprisingly high salvage and restoration efforts. As a result the building time was improved greatly, and after months of labor and round-the-chrono work crews, the shipyards reached a point of being comparable to past production status. Still, in the weeks and months to come, House Mitth intends to continue expansion and improvements on the systems and procedures, with the full intention of continually striving forward per the Chiss culture.

And under the careful guidance of highly skilled House Mitth leadership, overseen by Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod, the Ascendancy feels confident in that claim...
