2 x Scorpion Drones per squad

WD-334's pod cut through, the hull of the boarded ship falling away. The two forward Cyclops droids dropped into the ship, clearing the area. Apparently, a passing patrol had seen the hull being cut through. Attaching just outside a hall was not the best idea. WD could hear weapons being fired, and saw plasma pass it's droids down below. With a gesture of the shielded armor, it sent the rest of the now unharnessed battle droids down the hatch. One last one unharnessed the Scorpion drones, letting them down into the hall to land onto the metal floor below. WD was the last to drop in, but not before sending a quick coded message to [member="Ultimatum"]:

"Pod has breached hull. Attack begun."

Multiple defenders were at one end of the hall, and one Cyclops droid down. No doubt one of the first down. As quickly as it could, WD moved forward and slammed down the shield in front of it's squad, spinning up it's rotary cannon on the other arm. Blasts reflected off the shimmering combat energy shielding, bouncing back once to leave scorch marks down the hall.

"Cyclops Three, Four, Five, fall back in hanger direction. All leftover units, covering fire." Then, the war droid unleashed hail-fire.

Ultimatum caught the transmission from WD before having to shut off the comms and push more power to the shields. As the Sovereignty was battered by enemy fire from all sides, the ship rocked constantly. All excess systems had been shut down and their energy transferred to the shield generators and engines. Ultimatum shook with the shuddering, waiting at any moment for an engine to give out or for the hull to burst open. Yet it did not, and as the battered vessel at last escaped the ring of death, the artificial released a sigh of relief. He was not out of the fire yet, but the central group had ceased firing on him and it appeared that the large Frigate beside the command vessel was breaking off.

For reasons unknown the ship began to work its way away from the battle, whatever its purpose Ultimatum was glad to see it off. With that ship gone, the central core of ships was weaker than before and perhaps weaker than Ultimatum could have hoped. The A'den were taking heavy damage, but the Tome'tayl were using the advantage of a strong shield to continue their forward assault. Storming further into the enemy fire, the first line of ships were beginning to show heavy wear from Ultimatum's barrages. Things seemed to be looking to be heading in their favor.

With the fire Sovereignty was receiving decreasing, Ultimatum had power restored to communications and other less than necessary systems. He opened a secure line to WD for a moment and gave a proper response, "334 this is Ultimatum. We have advantage of the battlefield for the moment. Do you need any support?"

WD-334 was sure that it could handle things from here. They had almost reached the hanger by the time the communication reached the droid. A fourth of the squad down already, three Cyclops, though that did not bother the war droid too much. They were soldiers, serving their purpose in capturing the vessel. Holding up it's shield, WD continued forward ahead of the group, having the Scorpion drones just behind to provide a wall of laser fire to pin down any who tried to pop out to get a shot off.

"[member="Ultimatum"], this unit's squad is going fine. Almost have reached launch bay, launch remaining troop transports toward the launch bay." A blast hit the droid in it's side, which it quickly replied with by blasting down the shooter with it's rotary cannon. They instantly regretted their action, or so the droid thought. They couldn't really see much of a reaction. Finally, after some fighting they arrived to an end of the hall they had been traversing, blocked by a door. Just beyond the doors ahead, there was the hanger bay. The objective the war droid had come for.

"Blast the door." One of the Cyclops droids nodded in confirmation, then began to placing a large breaching charge.

Ultimatum received the message just as an enemy barrage bashed down the shields of the Sovereignty. The ship shook violently as the explosive energy bolts repeatedly struck the vessel. The distant shrieking was all too familiar to Ultimatum. The sound of air being sucked into space. "Seal all blast doors, now! Shut down weapons all power to shields, get them back online."

As the order was enacted, Ultimatum responded to the transmission, "Ships will be deployed in a few moments." He then sent out the signal to the boarding ships to begin their entrance. Just as with the pods, the ships were escorted by those fighters that had returned from the main ship as well as reinforcements from new arrivals. Nonetheless, survival chances were uncertain and the best that could be done was to keep the big ships disturbed and hope for the best. It was going to be a rough flight for them, especially since now the enemy likely had some idea of what was happening and would be able to begin to plan against it.

WD-334 held the shield in front just as the door burst open from the breaching charge. Several shooters began to open fire as soon as the door opened. "Forward. Push forward." The Scorpion drones covered the flanks of the group where as the Cyclops drones fired past WD aiming for any targets they could manage to hit with their weapons. That was when WD received the transmission.

"Clear the bay." A plan came to the droid, which included getting to the control panel for the hanger. Signalling for two Cyclops droids and a Scorpion drone to follow, the war droid pushed toward the control panel to enact the plan it had in mind. "Open the shield. Lock magnetic locks." The droid did not care for what would happen to the crew of the ship. It was too late for them by the time the shield of the hanger was deactivated, and out they went in the vacuum. If WD had a face, it would no doubt have been grinning out of victory. With them gone, the hanger was cleared for reinforcements to arrive.

And in came the transports. Phase two had begun. However, there were two ships missing. No doubt destroyed on the way. "Phase two; begin. Three squads to engine core. Four squads move toward crew cabins, attempt to draw attention. Rest of you with me to the bridge."

With the ships deployed and shields again online, Ultimatum hoped to pull back a bit more as the A'den pushed forward. The Tome'tayl were remaining at long range and focusing their fire on the ships closest the command vessel, hoping to push them away from the intended target. The plan was coming together. Whoever had been aboard the retreating vessel had obviously been instrumental in maintaining the defensive line. Whatever reason the enemy had retreated, Ultimatum was simply thankful that it had. The Sovereignty might not have survived otherwise.

"WD, when you gain control of ship let me know." He hoped to have the A'den act as shields to protect it from enemy fire until they could leave the system. It would remain a rather costly victory, if only due to the damages to the Sovereignty. He then ordered the Tome'Tayl to begin to ascend and fire down on the enemy craft, thereby circumventing the initial placement of defensive rings of enemies. It would take time for the ships to get into position though and the enemy might figure out the scheme.

WD-334 sent a communication back to Ultimatum in the middle of a firefight. The combat in the engines was going well, and the distraction was going as planned, most of the ship's garrison and crew drawn towards there and the medical bay of the ship. "It will be momentary. Engines are almost within our control, crew quarters are being held. Soon this unit will be upon the bridge." The war droid fired a barrage of rounds without looking in the direction of the enemy combatants they faced. A few Cyclops droids were down, and two Scorpion drones. The losses were no doubt more than expected to [member="Ultimatum"], WD was not sure. But to WD, such casualties were expected. And somewhat acceptable.

Ultimatum responded as swiftly as possible, "Good. As soon as you have the bridge and engines, get moving. Assume the enemy knows our intentions and don't waste a moment." The droid then turned to watch the space battle. The A'den had almost pushed through, but the cost had been high. The continued fire destroyed three of the A'den and a fourth was barely moving. Yet they continued on, those that remained had reached the Anaxes and were taking up defensive positions. They set their forward shields out towards the enemy craft and shut down engines while increasing shields and weapons. Most of them were unlikely to come out of the battle at all and Ultimatum had come to the conclusion that the losses were within reasonable realms in comparison to the pay off. He knew there would be casualties, that was a fact in this state of the galaxy and it was a shame that it occurred, but the reward outweighed the cost and therefore was worth it in the droid's eyes.

If they did not know of their intentions already, someone wasn't doing their job. By their the crew was acting, continuously pushing, they knew something was up. But that would not stop the war droid. Another squad of Cyclops droids reported they were taking heavy losses within the crew cabins of the ship before contact was lost from them. Whatever was left over there had to hold just a little longer. The war droid arrived to the bridge door. Bodies lay just outside, some against the walls and some on the floor. "Breach" the war droid signaled for one of the Cyclops droids to breach the door. The droid began to breach, placing an explosive charge upon the metal door. It would take at least two explosives to breach, but as long as there was little to no resistance that arrived to them then that would be all too easy. The first charge was set to blow, and everyone backed up.

"Give us three minutes. Then you may begin covering this ship's escape" WD sent the message to [member="Ultimatum"], then the first door got a hole right through it and the next charge was placed.

Objective: Defend command vessel

The droid noted that the inner circle of ships were beginning to turn towards the command vessel. Coordination had turned the tides against the artificials. The enemy was preparing to attack their own ship, at the very least cripple it so that it could not escape. It was understandable that they would fear a vessel being captured, after all the large ship was very powerful and definitely a danger to the fleet should its firepower be turned against them. The ships appeared to be waiting, perhaps for some signal from the capital ship.

Whatever the reason for their hesitancy, Ultimatum took advantage of it, ordering the A'den to finish lining up the defensive ring of ships, focusing primarily on the rear portion of the craft. Weapons could be replaced after escape, without engines there would be no escape. Thus the priority for defense was the engines and propulsion systems. The Tome'tayl meanwhile began shifting fire to the craft closest to the Anaxes. If they could at least disable the weapons aboard those ships it would create far more difficulty for the enemy. He hoped that WD would be finished soon, the A'den were beginning to show severe damage and would not last much longer under concentrated fire.

It seemed that whatever distraction WD had pulled off in the crew quarters had worked after all. There was minimal security on the other side, but enough to down a couple of the war droid's forces. Right now, WD did not care if it made too much damage, as long as the ship would still be operable then it would be a mission success. It stepped forward menacingly, then put it's metal shield back. To then unleash a hailstorm of rounds, making bursts on every select target. Enemy fire directed at the droid, bringing the energy shield over it down low. Some shots made it through. But, the droid felt no pain. It could not. Felt no remorse, for it could not. Only one thing mattered; victory.

With the aid of what remained of it's force, the bridge was cleared. Anyone left injured, WD ordered some of his Cyclops droids to round up. They would be dealt with later. Then, to one Cyclops droid, WD-334 ordered it to contact [member="Ultimatum"] through the comms array of the ship they had boarded. "Bridge secure. Preparing ship for jump." As long as the other squads held their locations, they would be able to get out fine. "Ultimatum, requesting escort of ship." Judging by damage control, outside damage was not too bad. But once the other ships realize it moving out of position, they would know. And they would fire.

The enemy vessels quickly began firing on their command vessel, almost as soon as WD had captured it there was a sudden barrage of fire focused on its weaponry and engines. The A'den were not yet fully in position and those that had almost reached their designated locations were bombarded with continuous fire. The command vessel would be hit by many a laser and plasma blast. It was likely that aboard the ship, any remaining defenders would attempt to seize command, either by attacking the bridge or the engine rooms.

The closest ships to the command vessel were mostly disabled by the time the ship could begin moving, but that did not stop them from attempting to turn what guns they had on their previously allied ship. Ultimatum feared that the ships would begin suicide runs when they realized the full intention of the commandeering. Therefore he sent out orders to the Tome'Tayl to begin moving into the gaps between the command ship and the enemies. He saved only the Sovereignty from the onslaught, its damage was too great and he doubted it would survive another focused attack. Instead when 334's message came through, the artificial lord replied, "Ready whenever you are. Make the jump as soon as possible and give us a rendezvous location at your convenience."

WD sent a confirmation bleep through the comms. Then, with orders to the Cyclops droids that were able to navigate with the directions given to them before the operation had begun, they began to move the ship out of harm's way, making ready to jump. The ship would wait for [member="Ultimatum"]'s ship to get into position before both would make the jump. WD ordered them to cut off power to weapons, and maintain power to shields and engines. That way they would move faster, and any remaining crew at operable guns would not be able to do too much damage to Ultimatum's ship.

There was little time for second guessing, no time for waiting. Yet that was what WD had decided to do. Ultimatum had hoped that the droid would simply find a suitable jump point and leave the system. They could always have communicated once they were both safe, though this was a definite way of ensuring that the two would both be near enough to continue working after leaving Hyperspace. However, this did not change the fact that Ultimatum was concerned that this would lead to more damage to the ship. After all, even a strong capital ship like this was limited in its abilities to absorb the combined fire of at least half a dozen battle craft.

Knowing that to take any more time was merely to add more damage potential, the artificial lord ordered the Sovereignty to turn about and align with the general direction of the Anaxes. The final transmission to the damaged command ship was a short blast of coordinates on the nearest safe system that the two ships would be able to stop and rest for a time in. Without waiting any longer, the Sovereignty jumped to light speed, disappearing in a shower of white lights. The various ships that were protecting the Anaxes waited until the craft made the jump before dispersing as best they could making random jumps to escape the battle. Some of the ships would not make it, but some would. The losses in Ultimatum's eyes were acceptable.
