Duel The Brute & The Sorcerer

The Warlock cursed in his native tongue as the massive creature was simply enraged by the fire. He had been confident in his efforts and while both had landed, the thing was now nothing more than a flaming mountain of rage. The first strike was just too fast to dodge. The Warlock was swatted like a fly, and slammed into the ruins. His right shoulder was dislocated and the bones were fractured, if not broken. He would have to fight with his offhand now.

Or would he?

He had an idea but before he could even act on it, a massive stomp caused the ruins to collapse on The Warlock. He pushed himself away from the falling debris, but still a significant chunk slammed into his head, forcing him to drop to the ground, or risk a snapped spine.

The momentum was in his favor for only seconds, and already the creature was beating him again. But he had an idea. The Force. He had healed himself, and others with it before. There was no reason that he couldn't again. It'd take the creature a moment to reach him, for sure. He closed his eyes and got to work. (I'll determine the effects of this heal via dice roll in my next post)

THE BRUTE & THE SORCERER
Within his blood-lust state, all reason has ceased to exist. GRIMZZ was the one controlling this state and without him the graug warlord was enraged beyond belief. His flaming self marched with fury towards the warlock as he was smacked away into rubble. Kregdakka would tear this person apart piece by piece until there was nothing left but a pile of guts. He grabbed the spear that was still lodged within his cybernetic skull. Holding it within his hand and chucking it at the warlock with immense speed. If it landed or not was of no consequences as the behemoth kept marching forward ever confident in his ability.
He picked up the dead body of a bryn'adul warrior as he passed within his large powered arm hand. Swinging the dead body around within his hand as he advanced. Testing to see if the bryn'adul warlock would be willing to strike down a fellow bryn'adul. Even if he didn't take the bait, the graug still had a tasty meal to devour in an attempt to cure some of his wounds.

He was right, the monstrosity was too far to reach him. But the spear that Sethrak had struck him with, did indeed reach him when the monster threw it at a must faster speed than the warlock had before. It hit him square in the shoulder, going all the way through and pinning him to another part of the ruins.

He howled out in pain...a rare sign of weakness...then quickly pulled the spear out. Then he closed his eyes, controlling his breath, again he tried to heal himself. This time it was near perfect. The open wounds on his head and shoulder closed, his bones cracked and snapped back into place, and by the end of it, he was almost 100% back to normal. The Force had saved him once, and now it was saving him again.

Renewed, The Warlock rose to his feet, staring at the creature. It was toying with some poor Bryn soldier, which only enraged Sethrak. He called out telepathically to the beast,
"Creature! This is your final chance. You cannot kill me! Kneel before me, call off your men, or DIE!:

THE BRUTE & THE SORCERER
The mental intrusion into his head only enraged the graug-ologuren into new heights of violence. Gathering his raw emotions of rage and projecting them within his own head, sending the raw power back at him through the mental link now established. It only need to provide him a small distract as he issued a bellow, throwing the bryn'adul warrior at him to make him either dodge or move out of the way.
The graug didn't let up from his attack, bringing his 4 barreled flak cannon around into a frontal position. Spinning it once again as the shells came bursting out of there with enough momentum to send even him back a few inches. The smoke from the cannon would billow out, as the shells traveled the distance to either strike the bryn'adul warlock or be deflected by some means.

OOC: Rolled 99, meaning an absolute victory for the Bryn NPCs. Rolled a 9 on the body, rolled a 19 om the cannon.

The creature was simply more enraged, and it became clear to Sethrak that he couldn't defeat it. But he was prepared to give one more effort, one last chance to win this battle.

But then the body slammed into him. Fortunately it hit him horizontally, the blunt of the impact hitting Sethrak was the dead Bryn's gut. Sethrak was knocked back, and winded, but was quickly able to recover. However the beast was already attacking again, firing its' arm cannon yet again. How did he even reload it? Sethrak wasn't prepared, but adrenaline was coursing through his veins now, and his mind was sharper than the sharpest blade.

He called The Force one more time. It was becoming more and more difficult to use, requiring absolute focus on his goal. He increased his physical speed again, and it was as if the projectiles, the size of his entire chest, were in slow motion. He envisioned his path, predetermining every step. With an exhale, he sprinted forward, jumping up, he pushed off the first shot, climbing the air to the second shot, then the third, and fourth. Now in the air, as he had been earlier, Sethrak again threw his spear at the monster as hard as he could. It was the same as his attack earlier, but earlier it worked, and maybe it would again.

Then Sethrak drew his Khukri as he descended. He held it in a reverse grip, and thrusted as hard as he could toward the monster's chest, hoping to impale it and use his weight to slice all the way down to the ground. However this was a very risky attack. He could easily be swatted away like a fly, depending on the result of his spear throw. This was his last chance to win.

Meanwhile
The Bryn Warlocks were the best of the best. They were veterans, some of the only Warlocks that had been cloned from before the fall. The greenskinned creatures were no match for them. Even if Sethrak was losing, his soldiers were winning a devastating victory. Of course there was still a chance for their foe to rally, as always....

THE BRUTE & THE SORCERER
Kregdakka would laugh at the warlock being knocked back some by the bryn'adul warrior he had thrown. However as he looked around and saw his front lines collapsed due to the bryn'adul assault. He would attempt to rally them with only mild success with only a few battle harden warriors returning to the fight to wage a desperate assault. With GRIMZZ unoperational at this current time, the graug-ologuren was only a monstrous brute. He managed to bring his flak cannon arm up to block the spear but the spear made the cannon unoperational at this time going right through it.
Looking up for just a moment in time for the warlock to come flying down towards him in an impalement maneuver. Rearing back his large powered arm and sending it forward to smack him away and send him flying. If this was successful then he would proceed to move into a more attack posture and rally his warriors some more with a shout. He would be Pitting his weight and size to the mind and power of the warlock. Ready incase the warlock came back to attack him once again.

The creature swung at him in a fit of rage, but missed. Either the damage to its' head was interferring with its' ability to hit him, or it was the uncontrollable rage. Regardless, Sethrak was now just seconds away from landing his strike with the Khukri. Just a few more feet, and he would slice the beasts' chest wide open....

Meanwhile it was clear that the creature couldn't rally its' forces. The Bryn'adul were moments away from a victory...they would be able to, at the least, recover the ancient artifact and leave the scene before the tide changes.

THE BRUTE & THE SORCERER
Kregdakka had missed the strike, but the momentum of rearing back his fist sent him forward to be stabbed in the shoulder with his blade instead of the chest like the warlock had originally planned. While the weapon wouldn't penetrate all the way through into his muscle to the bone due to a combination of graug hide and ologuren thick hide. Although he still was bleeding a lot, he got down on his legs and spirited towards a unbroken wall. Running over a few bryn'adul warriors with his charge motion. Ready to smash the warlock into paste by smashing him into a wall. Even if this motion failed the graug would simply smash his way through the wall anyway. Putting some distance between them at least for now.

Sethrak's strike landed, but not where he intended. Instead of slicing open the chest, and potentially harming or exposing vital organs, the creature's shifted position made the blade sink into its' arm. It wasn't deep enough to do much, but it was too deep for The Warlock to retrieve, so he dropped down. However the beast was already on the attack, as he had been time and time before.

This time it was a charge. Sethrak dived out of the way, landing on some rubble unevenly, sending pain rocketing through his left ribs.

The
battle was over, Sethrak had no weapons, and while his forces had won and the artifact was likely retrieved, Sethrak simply couldn't beat the creature anymore. Telepathically he called to the warlocks, "Retrieve the artifact and retreat. This conquest is lost." Then he began to sprint back toward the gunships. He was alive, his forces had won. The only failure was his own failure to defeat the beast.

THE BRUTE & THE SORCERER
Kregdakka smashed straight through the wall onto the other side. Brushing some of the rubble off of himself with a mighty shake of his body. By now the burning at subsided and his armored hide had intense burns upon them. He wanted to finish the fight with the warlock and rip his head off for damaging him. However the slow sizzle from his cybernetic skull came to life as GRIMZZ was brought back online. Calming the massive warlord down with a few logical words which seemed to bring the beast back to his senses. Realizing that his forces were routed and even he had limits when it came to armed combat. Kregdakka would make the smart move and withdrew with his horde, the loot had been lost but the fighting was the real reward. Having tested the bryn'adul warrior strength on the battlefield.
Walking through the ruins until he discovered a undamaged drop pod. Entering inside with a slight squeeze and pressing the thruster button which rocketed him back into the atmosphere with his remaining horde not far behind. Docking within the Gargantuan, his asteroid battleship. As it moved into hyperspace to escape the system. Heading for the system of loovria to establish a graug base there. GRIMZZ had repaired the cybernetic part of his skull so that he was fully operational for the siege of loovria.
