The Brotherhood

A History Forged in Shadow and Unity

The Brotherhood, a unique order of Force-sensitives residing within the Crucible of Order on Bastion, serves as the spiritual and martial backbone of the Diarchy. Founded on the heretical teachings of Darth Kakus and forged by his sons, Reign and Rellik (formerly Darth Reign and Darth Rellik), it rejects both the chaotic self-interest of the Sith and the emotionally restrictive tenets of the Jedi. Instead, the Brotherhood embraces a philosophy of controlled power, discipline, and unyielding loyalty, all in service of the Diarchy's vision of a stable and ordered galaxy.

Kakus, breaking from both established orders, viewed the Dark Side not as a path to selfish tyranny but as a tool to achieve order and collective strength. His sons, witnessing the flaws of both the Sith and the Jedi, embraced this vision, seeking an alternative that harnessed the Dark Side's power without falling victim to its destructive tendencies. This philosophy, codified in the Code of the Diarchy, emphasizes unity, shared power, and a common purpose dedicated to imposing order over chaos, with loyalty held above all else.

Loyalty Above All

The Brotherhood's training regimen is designed to forge paragons of this philosophy. Initiates undergo rigorous mental and physical trials within the Crucible of Order, mastering not only the Force but also their own emotions, prioritizing the Diarchy's needs above personal desires. Meditation, combat, and philosophical debate are key components of their education, shaping them into effective agents of the Diarchy's will.

Graduates of the Brotherhood are vital assets to the Diarchy, filling positions of power and influence across various sectors. They serve as strategists and commanders within the Diarchy Armed Forces (DAF), using their Force abilities to excel in combat and leadership. In the Network, they act as spies and counterintelligence agents, rooting out dissent and safeguarding the Diarchy's security. Within the Chancellorete, they function as advisors, administrators, and enforcers, ensuring the smooth operation of the Diarchy's vast bureaucracy. The most skilled, those adept in both the Force and intrigue, may even become personal advisors to the Diarchs themselves, influencing policy and defending their leaders from both physical and metaphysical threats.

The Brotherhood's emergence represents a third path in the galaxy's Force politics, a deliberate deviation from the traditional Jedi/Sith dichotomy. Unlike the conquest-driven Sith or the passively guardian Jedi, the Brotherhood actively strives to impose stability, a mission that inevitably clashes with both established orders. The Jedi see them as a dangerous potential realized, a dark reflection of their own restrained power, while the Sith view their unity and rejection of self-serving ambition as a direct threat to their dominance.

Under the leadership of the Diarchs, Reign and Rellik, the Brotherhood's collective power has grown into a significant force, challenging the galaxy's status quo and expanding its influence. The legacy of Kakus, of controlled power harnessed for collective good, lives on, proving that the Dark Side, when tempered by shared vision and unbreakable bonds, can be a path to order and not just tyranny. The Brotherhood stands as a powerful, cohesive force born from the ashes of conflicting ideologies, a testament to a different way.

Ranks within the Brotherhood

  • Tiro (Recruit): New initiates, rigorously vetted for Force sensitivity and loyalty, begin their journey as Tiro. They learn the foundational philosophies of the Brotherhood, basic Force techniques, and the martial arts of the Diarchy Armed Forces. Their days are filled with physical conditioning, meditation, and introductory lessons on the Diarchy's ideology.
  • Legionarius (Acolyte/Padawan): After demonstrating competence in basic skills and a commitment to the Diarchy's ideals, a Tiro graduates to Legionarius. They begin to specialize in a particular area of expertise, be it combat, investigation, or administration. Legionaries undergo advanced training in their chosen field and participate in simulations and practical exercises.
  • Optio (Lord/Knight): Legionaries who display leadership potential and a strong grasp of strategy are promoted to Optio. They are entrusted with supervising smaller groups of Legionaries, guiding their training and coordinating their activities. Optios are also given increased responsibilities within the Crucible of Order.
  • Centurio (Master): The rank of Centurio represents a significant milestone in a Brotherhood member's career. These are experienced and highly skilled individuals who lead larger groups of Legionaries and Optios. Centurios are often deployed on missions outside the Crucible of Order, representing the Brotherhood and the Diarchy in various capacities. Their loyalty and judgement are highly valued.
  • Preserver (Temple Guard): A Preserver is not merely a warrior; they are a living embodiment of the Brotherhood's unwavering dedication to preservation. Ascending to this revered rank signifies mastery of combat, unwavering loyalty, and a profound understanding of the Brotherhood's spiritual heart. Preservers are the elite guardians of the Brotherhood's sacred sites, entrusted with the safety of the Crucible of Order and other vital locations. They stand as the last line of defense against any threat to the Brotherhood's legacy, secrets, and spiritual well-being.
  • Archon (High Council): Archons hold ultimate authority within their assigned school of the Crucible and over all Brotherhood members associated with that school's disciplines. They are members of the Diarchy High Council and report directly to the Diarchs, wielding sweeping influence over the Diarchy Domain. Their decisions carry the full weight of the Brotherhood's power and are rarely questioned.

The Brotherhood stands as a testament to the Diarchy's commitment to order and control. It is a forge where Force-sensitives are shaped into instruments of the Diarchy's will, ensuring the stability and prosperity of its growing domain. In their eyes, obedience is strength, and order is the foundation for lasting peace. Through the Brotherhood, the Diarchy enforces the Pax Per Bellum, solidifying its vision of a galaxy governed by unwavering, unwavering order.
