The Blood Games - Kelsie Sylvan vs. Nixia Amabilia

Petranaki Arena, Genosis
[member="Kelsie Sylvan"] vs. [member="Nixia Amabilia"]

The galaxy had seen its fair share of blood spilled in recent months. From the war-torn capital of Eshan, to the explosion that rocked the parliamentary buildings on Kuat, to what remained of the Jen’ari Empire, scattered to the solar winds. The Confederacy had contributed a large amount of that blood - and it would seem that their appetite had turned inward for a change.

Recognizing an opportunity to reforge bonds with their allies, the CIS put out an open invitation to anyone who would consider themselves friends. Those who had been brave enough to put their names forward were invited to join with a horde of spectators at the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis.

The morning was bright, the skies clear. The stands were filled to the brim with roaring spectators, all having gathered to watch what promised to be a brilliant bit of sport. Nestled high above the sandy floor of the arena below, and overlooking the festivities, a platform stood sentinel. A cluster of massive stone chairs sat perched at the edge of the platform, with an unobstructed view of the arena and stands spread around them. Seated there were several members of the Confederate Viceroyalty, and others invited guests from their allied factions.

It didn’t take long for every single seat in the arena to be filled to complete capacity, with the unlucky patrons that were unable to secure a seat forced to either hover above the stadium or find somewhere to be able to stand and see the spectacle that was about to occur. The sounds and roars of the crowd only got louder and louder as the time neared to introduce the fighters that would be clashing for the crowd’s entertainment. That roar reached a fever pitch as the guardian of the arena, an aging Geonosian, hobbled his way to the front of the observation platform, his cane doing all it could to support him. Beside him, a silver protocol droid, a translator, took up the microphone and awaiting the first words from the crowd’s esteemed host.

After allowing the crowd to quiet down momentarily, the old alien made his voice known through a series of clicks and buzzes, the Geonosian language. The Geonosians were apparently quite pleased with whatever he had to say, though everyone else that spoke basic was left quiet for a moment. The translator droid was quick to fix that, speaking aloud into the microphone for all to hear. “The Great Guardian welcomes you all to this event of bloodshed! He hopes you will be pleased with the fighters, the fights, and the results!”

The elder allowed the droid to finish, before continuing the speech in his native language, then motioning toward the gates at the far end of the arena. The droid, quicker to translate this time, made the same motion while speaking in its robotic voice. “Open the gates! And let the fighters make their way forth, so that we may see these fighters in all their glory!”

With that, the gates would be opened, and the competitors would be lead into the arena. The very sight of these fighters had the crowd reaching a fever pitch once again, the open air gladiatorial arena shaped in such a way that the sound would be loudest in the bowl itself. All of the fighters, coming from different backgrounds, different walks of life, were embraced by the crowd wholeheartedly as they were lead to the center of the fighting arena, where all could get a good look at those that had been chosen to fight for their entertainment.

The fighters, [member="Kelsie Sylvan"] and [member="Nixia Amabilia"], had the look of those that could win the entire tournament, and as the crowd began looking over the competitors, credits could be seen being exchanged as the patrons began placing bets on the individual fighters. The arena guardian allowed this to go on for a few moments, before clicking his cane against the rock observation platform, bringing the crowd noise back down to a slight murmur. Looking to the protocol droid, he gave a short nod. Once seen, the droid began the final words to the fighters. “The Great Guardian is pleased with the form you all are in. He, as well as all those here in the arena, are very eager to see what you all can do. You all have your first matchups for the first round. Now, let us begin, and let the blood flow!”

Kelsie was wondering if 'Blood Games' was a misnomer. She had no real intention to kill anyone, at least if they didn't piss her off. And weren't allies of the CIS participating? It'd probably look bad if some of them died in their tournament...

But then again she was mildly itching to fight. A Jedi, without the Force... she wanted to see how she matched up. She supposed she'd begin to find out today.

With her frame and features hidden under her cloak and hat the young woman stepped into the arena, striding confidently to about a third of the way across the sandy fighting pit. It was a little hot in the Geonosian sun, especially since Kelsie was wearing mostly dark colours. She'd probably make a little shade for herself... but for now she focused on her apparent opponent.

"So how do you want to do this?" The young woman called out to across the sand.

Equipment: Coynite SFOR Republic Carbine(slung around torso), Light-shield(L), Eclipse Armor,(Body) Master-Grav 1000 boots(Feet), Standard lightsaber(Hip) and Spray stick(back hip)

So this was her opponent? Nixia stepped forward, ears listening to the crowds cheering waiting for bloodshed and violence. Up then down the Icarii's eyes scanned [member="Kelsie Sylvan"] and everything that was her. She was pretty. Nixia had to hand it to her, she was pretty but nothing compared to Nixia herself. Most of her equipmend were hidden under a cloak of sorts. Those blasted things always go int the way. Even as a sith acolyte the Icarii found them... irritating.

"So how do you want to do this?" The womans voice sounded in question.

Nixia's right hand twisted slightly testing her grip on the sort carbine around her torso. " How about we take cover first?" Her face was in question as if in real question. Her small body frame hunched back angling her held weapon, The Coynite SFOR republic carbine. Gunslinging the trigger single handed with her right arm, the weapon fired rippling shockwaves of energy. The barrel of the weapon not angled directly at Nixia's opponent but rather her feet.

She knew as soon as the waves of rippling energy hit that spot it could freeze her lower body were she stood.

Not one for formalities, huh... Kelsie liked her opponent already.

The young woman wasted no time, the systems in her Theia glasses booting up. Instantly the shimmering energy shield sprung into existence on her left arm and she slammed it into the ground. Nixia's shot definitely was dangerous, she could tell her shield would have a little bit of trouble keeping up if her opponent had released a barrage of fire. But for now she was fine.

Kelsie grabbed a small, spherical device from her belt and tossed it high in the air as she stood up. Knowing her opponent's eyes would naturally follow the smoke bomb as it flew, Kelsie rapidly drew her Verpine shatter gun pistol, passed it into her right hand, and fired off a trio of shots. The first two would hopefully slam into her opponent's knees, with the third aiming for Nixia's right shoulder. The pellets of the pistol were rapid, destructive, and the weapon itself made no noise -- to the spectators it might seem as if Kelsie had not fired at all.

Regardless of the results of her attack, the smoke bomb hit the ground only a few moments later, a grey cloud enveloping an area several meters in diameter, with Kelsie disappearing inside. As her opponent didn't appear to have any sort of heads up display, the young woman felt that she definitively had the upper hand now -- her Theia glasses' targeting systems allowed her to track her opponent's movements relatively easily. For now, though, she activated her sound damper and remained effectively invisible.

There was a difference between a soldier and a warrior. One of which worked as a team from the beginning of their training and the other forged through individual trails and personal challenges. Social versus personal. Duty versus selfish. Level headed versus chaotic. This was a battle of close opposites. Warrior versus soldier.

Nixia was not a soldier.

Curious shifting eyes glanced briefly at the shield that had been activated absorbing the brunt of the SFOR Republic Carbines energy payload. Impressive. Tainted smells of frozen and brunt ozone wafted from the barrel. It was still hot or maybe cold from the last shot. Her gaze never left [member="Kelsie Sylvan"] body. Even as her foe moved to unhinge an object from her own body Nixia did not falter. That simple action spoke volumes about her character. Lunar irises locked, body shifting to the right in a lean, then a single step and boom. Carried to the right of her opponents current position at a 90 degree angle via Grav boots! Nixia readied her Carbine just as she cleared the shots fired her way. She had not even seen them. Holding the trigger the Carbine loosed four more rippling waves of energy all aimed for the midrib of the torso.

The air became dull and grey. Smoke. That's what was thrown?! "Buying more time before I knock you on your arse?" The Icarii mocked and taunted. Energy expanded in a 1.5m diameter from her left bracer. Remnants that touched the ground burned it just like a lightsaber would. It covered the entirety of her small armored frame and was transparent purple in appearance. It was a Light-shield. Her body halted as the smoke spread further. She was grounded now.

Well that was something. Kelsie kept the little Grav Boot stunt in mind for next time. The young woman again threw up her shield, blocking the first shot as she sidestepped out of the way of the rest of her opponent's shots -- she didn't want to waste the power on her defense, so her shield disappeared as well. Kelsie had the advantage of actually being able to see Nixia's attacks -- her opponent didn't and couldn't notice the pellets being fired from her Verpine shatter gun.

As she disappeared into the smoke Kelsie couldn't help but mentally complain about such attacks. No precision, just spray and pray. She didn't like that. The commando was a scalpel, not a broadsword or hammer. She wouldn't sully her reputation by throwing wave after wave of blaster fire at her opponent... no, she'd focus on this for only a few moments.

The young woman had a similar plan to before -- distractions and shots, but this time she wouldn't wait around. She moved silently near the edge of the smoke, skirting around before stopping at Nixia's three o'clock, then crouching and once more reaching to her belt. Two more little grenades waited for her -- she took the cylindrical CryoBan grenade off her belt and readied her pistol.

With the help of her heads up display she set her sights on her opponent, setting her timer on the baton-shaped grenade then pulling the pin. One, two... toss. The baton flew up in the air, and Kelsie took aim. It hit the sand behind Nixia, away from where Kelsie was crouching, a second before detonating, and as it went off Kelsie began to fire. She unloaded the clip of her Verpine shatter gun. Seven silent pellets flew towards her opponent, mostly aiming to disable her legs.

This shab is boring, the battle had just begun and this poodoo was old. After while the Icarii's patience, as little as it was, became no more. Why am I wasting my time fight an enemy that does not want to even fight? This poo Nixia's mind was made up. Even the crowds above were beginning to fiddle and play. As a spectator that must hate smoke grenades. Front row seats were a waste of credits now. " Yeah Kark this." It had only been roughly three seconds before a decision be set. " Your battle strategy are a sheer delightful waste. Go back to tactical school please. I'll still be here then you come back." Leaning back Nixia began her retreat, Grav boots thrusting her body backwards diagonally at a 50 degree angle. The Grav boots could clear ascend the user easily several meters, but even so a sharp sting could be felt through the female warriors left ankle. The arena wall would be approaching giving the illusion of a dead end, It wasn't.

Bang!

" Sithspit." An icy blast erupted down in front of her. If it had not been for her light-shield activated and shielding the front of her body mid flight. She would of been ensnared and doomed... maybe. The circular shaped shield of pure plasma eviscerated the frozen grasp of the Cyro-ban explosion. Extreme cold meeting extreme heat causing a mass of steam clouding the arena even more so. The crowds roared with panic and excitement as Nixia's small frame suddenly appeared out of the blurr mess of a arena and onto the crowded stand. It was the front row! Citizens and fans alike stood and sat to her left, right and behind surrounding her but not in the front of her.

Grounded at the stands her grav boots shunted off and the weight on her left ankle shot a pain up her leg. She could feel it now, all of it. The dampness of her blue blood in her boots. She could picture it now and it showed though only display of half truth acting that could one day be worthy of theater. Wounded yes but not significantly, The armor she wore was enhanced with cybernetics supporting her limbs and boosting her physical strength. Pair that with her icarii biology and she was fine. Even now the damp feeling of blood in her boot could be felt. It stung. " You can shoot if you want, not that your aim is any good. You got a lucky shot. I'm not shooting you from up here and I'll prove it. i'm not all cheap shots. Come get your pictures quick!" Her Carbine fell to the ground into the arena with a thump in exchange for the long cylinder behind her lower torso. A token of good faith? From afar it looked like her lightsaber un-activated he had in hand.

The crowds loved her.

" When I come down after the smoke.. You will taste my blade." Her mouth smirked wide as a single brow was raised.

What the actual kark was Nixia thinking?!!!?????

[member="Kelsie Sylvan"]

Kelsie honestly didn't want to fight all that much. Despite her extreme confidence in her abilities she was taught to end fights quickly -- probably why the crowd didn't like her as much. They just wanted a show, and her opponent was definitely giving them one, whereas no one could see Kelsie hidden in the cloud of smoke.

She quickly reloaded her Verpine shatter gun pistol, but hearing her opponent's taunts she holstered it. True, she was starting to get bored of this. The young woman reemerged from the smoke, her cloaked figure standing ominously at the edge of the cloud. She paused for a moment, then spread her arms in an obvious "let's see it then" gesture, but didn't move. Kelsie had enough tricks up her sleeve to last a few years -- so she waited for her opponent to take the bait.

[member="Nixia Amabilia"]

She appeared out of the smoke's edge. Her weapons observed to be holstered and her body language returning the taunt the Icarii spat at her. She was waiting for her battle. To her ear all she had heard was strong words that had yet to be backed up. They were about to be proven in full. This entire fiasco had been manipulated from the start. Knowing who your opponent was and how they would act was the real battle and Nixia had seen all she could now. The girl in the arena below had a strong confidence in herself and her abilities, But how strong was it really? Nixia stood near the crowds practically open for attack and nothing... no risk was take to end battle. It was an opening to exploit that any warrior would take. Yes there was the risk of hitting innocents in the crowds next to Nixia but without risk nothing happened. She lacked the strength to take action.

Weak.

She was no warrior, She was a Soldier. She was nothing.

Nodding to Kelsie the Icarii moved her shield to the side and thrust forward her "lightsaber" in a pose before appearing to get ready to jump down into action. The hilt was still un-ignited. Moving a thumb to the activation button, Nixia pressed it hard causing her weapon in hand to activate. There was no snap-hiss or flash of plasma as a blade extended. There was just a hissing spray. [member="Kelsie Sylvan"] would be surprised to see globs of adhesive webbing hurling in her direction. Raining down the netting would attempt to stick to her and her equipment. If the attacked worked then the Sith knights opponent would find themselves completely immobilized by very resistant netting. Stokhli spray sticks were known for being able to deliver electric shocks capable of knocking out Big game animals and being hearty enough to withstand strike from a lightsaber. Those same shocks could find their way to Kelsie's body. The spray stick netting could reach a maximum of 200 meters, which was bountiful amount given the circular pattern of the arena. It only meant much of the space would be covered. Nixia was not worried about her little friend dodging her attack not from her superior vantage point. Even now one could observe watching the netting over lap and fold over itself in areas. What would it do to a pillar of human body then? The same thing.

No stone would be left uncovered.

Please raise that shield. She thought to herself just wishing she would.

" Your impudence for not taking a chance has cost you everything." Her voice was stoic.

A lightsaber, of course, tended to be shorter than a meter long.

Kelsie could tell by the size of the weapon that it wasn't quite the one she had been expecting, and already she began to raise her right hand as the mist shot towards her, waiting and timing her counter. That was all it was -- mist. And thus when she fired off the repulsor weapon, even a relatively small model of such a device was enough to disrupt the spray of mist fired towards her before it had a chance to fully solidify. She'd keep the device in mind next time she went searching for a new weapon.

The issue with taunting someone like Kelsie was that they didn't care. If it made her opponent feel better, she'd listen to all the back-talk in the galaxy. The young woman tuned out her opponent's comment and drew her Enforcer slugthrower. Two suppressed shots rang out, producing a small crack as they flew out of the barrel -- and promptly towards Nixia's torso. Surely the powerful armor-piercing slugs would be able to drop Kelsie's opponent... but once again she simply stepped back into the smoke behind her.

[member="Nixia Amabilia"]

Two cracks sounded. The impacts from both shots slammed into Nixia's chest plate knocking her back into the crowds. The people behind her catching her cursed a storm. The bullets embedded into the armor stood out like warts on someones skin. They both had been stopped at the expense of her ribs. Underneath her armor the suit bore Impact gel. This paired with the phirk plating were the two factors that saved her life just now. Winded the Icarii stood to her feet with some assistance. The netting that was once mist had already solidified. The netting was never disrupted. The process of a spray sticks netting becoming a solid took seconds after it was fired. Seconds that her opponent did not have nor could produce in time, instead of running to the edge of the arena the shots of a slugthrower were seen and heard. The netting would be on top of her within milliseconds now to ensnare her.

[member="Kelsie Sylvan"] hiding in the smoke cloud would not save her from this. In truth nixia did not understand how the smoke was still there after so long. Watching the netting cover such a vast area of space Nixia smiled once again and spit blood from her mouth. Decicing to waste the rest of the clip in the weapon Nixia fired the spray stick again in the same manner as before for good measure. The mist hissed out and in seconds the netting solidified once more. This time to fall on top of the other layer of netting.
