- Spell Collection: The book features a small collection of handpicked spells from Abyss tome of Twisted Ink, as well as a handful of simpler spells tailored for an acolyte, and attached rune clusters to cast them. Every spell comes with 20 page explanation, as well as 20 blank pages where runes can be drawn with a mix of ink and blood to cast them.
These spells are:
Frozen Touch
Wall of FireSpell: "Kraujas bnigeai, likasi pezeje, tave jena'tes buti slona" ("Blood frozen, limps stiff, the darkness is cold.")
Effect: A twist on the art of cryokinesis. When caster the water in the air around the targeted area becomes ice. The effect takes time to be cast, and during the time the spell has to be constantly repeated. After the initial cast, it takes roughly 20 seconds to freeze an area the size of an average human. If cast quickly the ice is thin and brittle, and therefore easily broken.
Ballistic ShredderSpell: "Mtoni kia tave skeletas, nuyak raka galia saud ir kraujas" ("Burned to the bones, my hand holds fire and blood.")
Effect: A twist on the art of pyrokinesis. When cast a ring of fire is formed around the caster, which stays alive for 12 seconds after being summoned. While a single cast is all that is needed to summon he fire, the caster holds no control over the fire once created, and neither can the spell be canceled by means of the spell itself.
Words of ProtectionSpell: "Nuyak dvasi buti zo asimi, nuyak laikas âhci je'as figura nuo tave karza kia tapti'" ("My mind is a storm, my enemies cut into pieces for the war to come"
Effect: A twist on Ballistakinesis. When called upon the spell takes roughly 20 seconds to be cast. To be used the caster has to be surrounded by small rubble and debris, while repeating the spell. During these 20 seconds the smaller pieces of the rubble start to gather around the user. Once the spell has reached its peak of power, the collection of debris can be fired at once or in short bursts, each piece at the speed of a bullet fired by a slugthrower.
Cloak of ShadowsSpell: "Tnamli ra ir Svistuis ra" ("Unbend and Unbroken")
Effect: Simply a rune based version of Protecion Bubble
RendSpell: "Aikstus ra sas z'kaina ra akute, tave hadzuska buti nuyak zavus sajun" ("Unseen by unworthy eyes, the shadows are my greates ally")
Effect: Basically a photokinetic cloak to render an area or object invisible like a common force cloak, only with a wider area of effect. While there is no set limit to how far the illusion can stretch, size determines how imperfect the illusion becomes. While masking a singular human leads to almost perfect invisibility, everything beyond that is more similar to camouflage than to actual invisibility.
HorrorSpell: "Nelfeti" (Rend)
Effect: A blast of sharpend telekinetic energy, alike to a thrown dagger.
TaintSpell: "Gatota" ("Horror")
Effect: A single blast of fear aimed a single target, more focused and direct then a normal use of force fear.
Spell: "Solu" ("Taint")
Effect: A weaker, spell based version of Taint - Mind Link: The Crystal allows the book to be linked to the casters mind, giving a sense of where the pages for the sought spell can be found with ease, as well as the option to keep the book floating the air without taking up much focus to do so.
- Shortcut to Power: The Spells erase the need to actually master the force abilities used in them, as the runes and the incantation are responsible for giving the force the desired form
- Less focus required: As the runes are responsible for giving the spells form, the caster has to divert less focus on the spells as when using normal abilities of similar nature
- Slow: Casting is a slow process, often taking far more time to accomplish things that are rather simple with similar abilities
- Rune Knowledge: While the caster doesn't need to hold knowledge over the used abilities, intimated knowledge over the art of sith runes and the old sith language is required to understand the spells.
- Dark Side only: The spells can only be cast by those able to call upon the dark side of the force
- Instable and Volatile: Other then Abyss own spellbook, the runes in the Blackbook were altered to take up less energy to be abel to be used by an acolyte. The drawback is that the runes are rather Volatile now, and quite prone to backfiring when used without focus or care.
Vereshin was the first of Abyss apprentices to show not only an interest, but a clear talent for the arcane arts. After his training progressed, Abyss grew more impressed with the skills he already possessed and decided to further amplify them by giving him tools similar to his own to further employ magic and spells in combat scenarios.
For that reason the Blackbook was written, a smaller version of Abyss notorious Tome of Twisted Ink. While certain more advanced spells are lacking, a handful of very simple, and very quickly cast spells was added that would allow Vi to use the book effectively in combat, as the young sorcerer always lacked any sort of talent for physical weapons.
The Blackbook was written entirely in the language of the sith, making it not only a weapon but a lesson for Vi. Besides that the book includes simple explanations of the runes used, but they are not complete. Instead the book is meant as a source of inspiration and experimentation, so that Vi could discover the true power of sith runes on his own.
