(Note: Judges reviewing this submission, please keep in mind that the intended storyline thread for this NPC unit and its attached NPCs hasn't happened yet. I merely wanted this to be a reference for this joining the thread with me to have some insight as to who the notable NPCs are. Please excuse any details that remain un-addressed, this submission will be updated following the events of the quest. Thank you.)
Name: The Black Legion
Logo Credit: Here
Intent: To provide Carlos Castillo and his PC allies on their quest for the take over of the planet Safe Haven with a strong enough force to relive the battle of King Goren the Wise and his two thousand men who took the capitol.
Affiliation: Carlos Castillo, various Black Legion NPC officers
Availability: Unique. The Black Legion is a unique infantry unit solely comprised of some of the worst outlaws, thugs, sellswords, and brigands that make nightmares pale in their comparison. Although they are a unique, and thus moderately skilled unit, their equipment is sub-par to even real-life standards. Many of them boast mere chainmail and straight swords from the dark ages of Safe Haven. A precious few have managed to smuggle in illegal modern weaponry that ranges from blaster rifles to stun guns and rocket launchers, though all of them are in short supply and those owning them have little to no training.
Type: Light Infantry
Strength: 2,000 Bandits, sellswords, assassins, thieves, brigands, thugs, and low-lives.
  • 1200 Thugs
  • 200 Sellswords/Mercenaries
  • 300 Bandits
  • 100 Thieves
  • 50 Assassins
  • 150 Misc Low-lives, brigands
Description: The Black Legion would come into existence upon Carlos Castillo's chance arrival on Safe Haven. Being the powerlusting wannabe conqueror that he is, intelligence on the current kingdoms and political rivalries were immediately collected by himself and the extremely few allies that had accompanied him on his journey towards greatness. However, his location in Hellgast which literally happened to be a city caked in lava and despair, proved otherwise useless to his plans of getting to the capitol of Damanta.

Given the information revolving around Damanta, attacking a city with billions of citizens and an actual starport was something of a (massive) challenge. As he was no fool, Carlos knew that he would not be able to seize the capitol all alone nor be able to garner the support and loyalty of the surrounding kingdoms. So he decided to build an army. Not just any old, plain run-of-the-mill one. No, sir. Naturally, the natives of Hellgast were rather against the idea of following some smart-mouthed softie and many of them fancied the idea of just mugging the buffoon before dumping his body in the lava. Carlos still breathes today, so you must've guessed the outcome by now.

The poor souls who appealed to such an idea were ended - painfully and uncleanly. How Carlos and his allies managed to gain the respect and loyalty of two thousand black souls, the galaxy would never know. At least, not yet.

The following attached spoilered articles are individual NPC submissions for the notable members and leaders of the Black Legion.

Judas Valkner
7012c316d6a18f4f5c2ded6463768381-d7wupap.jpg
"Brother Judas you could trust him to make a long shot with a short bow. You could trust him to come out of a knife fight with someone else's blood on his shirt. You could trust him to lie, to cheat, to steal, and to watch your back. You couldn't trust his eyes, though. He had kind eyes and you couldn't trust them."
Name: Judas Valkner
Loyalties: Carlos Castillo, the Black Legion
Role: Companion, Legion Tribune
Development Threads: N/A
Age: 27
Species: Human
Force-Sensitive: No
Appearance: Judas happens to be probably one of the best-dressed and hygienically inclined person in all of Hellgast. While he doesn't happen to take baths or brush his teeth often, the mere fact that he places emphasis on such things are what matter most. Typically, he wears simple clothing and it's not hard to tell that his favorite color is blue. Armor is a must in the hazardous environment in which he lives, and so is armament. Fairly lean and tall, he gives off the impression of a knight caught in a town full of evil-doers.
Personality: In stark contrast to the literal living hell, Judas happens to be an extremely friendly, caring, and overall pleasant man to be around. Although he's willing to extend a saving hand to anyone in need, his sharp wits and quirky intelligence have kept him alive and well for his twenty seven years in existence. In a town when a beggar could easily be hiding a dagger behind the folds of his cloak, his intuition for determining truth from lies is astounding.
Weapon of Choice: A one-handed steel sword.
Wealth: Judas isn't wealthy at all. He only has much more credits than many other residents of Hellgast is because he chooses to safeguard what little coin he has left and is quite frugal in his spending.
Combat Function: A master swordsman Judas is. Trained and honed by a brotherhood that he used to be part of, his skills in battle with that four foot blade of steel have been refined to a point. Although he often lacks the brute strength that many others in the legion and Hellgast possess, he's quick to retreat and feint attacks and his footwork is the stuff of legends. As for blasters and projectiles, he's pretty helpless against those. Often times, he's content with withdrawing and would rather not test the durability of his armor.
Skills: See above for combat skills. The most prominent skill that Judas possesses besides bladesmanship is leadership. He's diplomatic, polite, and charismatic. Many flock to his side should he ever come under scrutiny of criminals and he always has had supporters since he was very young. He can speak clearly and carefully and rally whomever he wants to follow him.
Notable Possessions: Steel armor, steel sword, coin purse.
Other Notes: Though there aren't any official ranks, Judas is considered the second-in-command of the Black Legion as a whole.

Zayne Orick
falconer_by_cristi_b-d5s56do.jpg
"Some people were born to rub you the wrong way. Brother Zayne was born to rub the world the wrong way."

Name: Zayne Orick
Loyalties: Carlos Castillo, the Black Legion
Role: Companion, thief/scout
Development Threads: N/A
Age: 24
Species: Human
Force-Sensitive: No
Appearance: Zayne doesn't look like a thief in the slightest. Well, kind of. He prefers to be generally garbed in darker clothing such as black or brown robes and matching bits and pieces of clothing. While his garb may be deceiving, he certainly is materialistic. Stoic expressions are the most seen emotions on his face and only the shimmer of gold or a shiny new coat are the only things that light up his eyes. If you watch him close enough, he can be caught glancing at the sky with an air of longing about him.
Personality: Sarcastic, stoic, and generally a dull person. He doesn't tend to talk much to people he doesn't know - unless he's scamming them - but his excessive sarcastic, crude jokes and remarks could make even saltiest of sailors blush. He gambles quite often as well, be it with valuables or his own life. Accompanying him wherever he goes is his trusty black-feathered sidekick, Kai. Kai's a raven who likes nothing more than to be fed and loved on by her master. It's spoken in hushed tones in the Black Legion that Zayne only cares for loot and Kai.
Weapon of Choice: A steel, curved dagger and vibrosword, standard market issue.
Wealth: Nobody knows. Considering he's a thief, many expect him to be considerably above middle class, but his gambling habits sometimes don't bear him the best of luck.
Combat Function: He's not a fighter in the slightest sense. That dagger and vibrosword that he has are only tools to use when he is cornered. Everyone knows that a cornered man fights with the strength of many. Typically, he only uses the dagger on the fools he scams if things go awry and the sword is if scouting doesn't work out so well. As for Kai, she has a strong beak and sharp claws and willingly uses them should her master come under fire.
Skills: Thievery, pilfering, scouting, dirty jokes. These are pretty self explanatory skillsets and many Black Legion members pride themselves in boasting "one of the best thieves" in all of Safe Haven. They aren't exaggerating. One could stare at Zayne's hands the entire duration of a conversation and still be missing his coin purse or pocket watch. It's safe to keep in mind that both he and Kai work in unison. He isn't much of a fighter, but scouting is a combat support specialty is something he's sure to use well.
Notable Possessions: Dagger, vibrosword, Kai, unknown valuable items (coins, watches, etc.).
Other Notes: N/A

Solomon "Shrimp" Kirok
sellsword_by_cristi_b-d5qike7.jpg
"Most men have at least one redeeming feature. Finding one for Brother Solomon requires a stretch. Is 'big' a redeeming feature?"

Name: Solomon Kirok
Loyalties: Carlos Castillo, the Black Legion
Role: Companion, sellsword/mercenary
Development Threads: N/A
Age: 31
Species: Epicanthix
Force-Sensitive: No
Appearance: Large and in-charge are two words to describe Solomon. The others are arrogant, mean, cruel, and eternally hungry. He's not fat and most of that bulk is from pure muscle that he claims is from "fondling breasts and looting nests." Both of those are true statements. Truthfully speaking, he's a life-long mercenary and one can tell from the permanent scowl, deep scars, and his knack for toting around a sword and a blaster rifle. Heavy armor is also a must.
Personality: Cruel, arrogant, and mean. He's the very definition of black market muscle. Wielding archaic and advanced technology and lifetime full of experience in pillaging, murdering, and conquering, he's sure to be one fearsome adversary in combat. Although he's utterly ruthless and makes even nightmares seem like a flowery field in comparison, he's sensitive about one thing: his size. He doesn't like being big and bulky and has a soft spot for ladies and children. Thus this is why he's only called 'Shrimp' when his back is turned. A life is a valuable thing, 'yknow. Oh yeah, his little brother is the Liar.
Weapon of Choice: Two-handed greatsword, standard issue E-11 blaster rifle.
Wealth: Next to dirt poor. The only reason he's still living is because of all the business that's been cropping up recently in Hellgast due to the gang wars sparking. However, he follows Carlos in pursuit of wealth and a prosperous life.
Combat Function: Not exactly an elite soldier, but he's probably the most experienced 'warriors,' if you must, out of the entire Black Legion excluding Judas Valkner. Doesn't matter if it's single combat or if he's bringing his sword down on six men - he'll win through sheer brute strength and stamina. He's a tank and tanks absorb blows like a man breathes air. Let's just hope that heavy armor has something to say about those blaster bolts and slugs that the Damantan army wields.
Skills: War. War is all Solomon knows and that's probably all he'll ever know. It's not secret that he's going to die by the sword someday and he's been attempting to save money to either help someone or something find their way to happiness. He's a fairly decent swordsman, equally skilled with his blasters, and can give you a bearhug that rivals he chokehold of a boa constrictor.
Notable Possessions: Heirloom two-handed greatsword, archaic E-11 blaster rifle, heavy plate armor and chainmail.
Other Notes: He's the Liar's older brother.

The Liar
17ecbe973153f34d18fab47fc347c425-d5jd0qb.jpg
"Assassination is just murder with a touch more precision. The Liar is precise."

Name: The Liar
Loyalties: Carlos Castillo, the Black Legion
Role: Companion, assassin
Development Threads: N/A
Age: 28
Species: Epicanthix
Force-Sensitive: Yes, unaware and untrained
Appearance: Lean, shrewd, and scary-looking. If anyone worth their salt in common sense looked at the notable few of the Black Legion, the Liar is the one who is probably the scariest looking and the most intimidating. One can literally never see his face or what's beneath that cloak and tunic he wears. It's as if his entire life's goal revolves around living a life of secrecy. Although it's unknown to the naked eye, he's extremely well-toned and his entire body looks like someone attempted to make abstract art with a sword's edge. Scarred with an ever present neutral appearance to his lips, one never knows if he's lying or telling the truth.
Personality: He can only be described as not really having one. He doesn't talk much - if at all - and prefers to either keep to himself and be unseen or be right alongside his brother, Solomon Kirok. Some people assume his last name is Kirok as well, but Solomon is quick to rebuke them with the words, "He's a different kind of brother." Should he ever talk, they are usually words of wise consul or warnings. One can either perceive them as lies or truths.
Weapon of Choice: Poison-laced straight dagger. The dagger itself is of simple, durable design though the key feature of it is the poison. The poison is of unknown origin and it appears to be nameless as well. Once the blade breaks flesh, the poison enters the bloodstream and immediately sets to infecting the wound, start swelling, and making its way to the heart where it corrupts it with malicious intent. It'll take only minutes before a humanoid succumbs to its effects and taking on someone larger than said being hasn't been tested. Yet.
Wealth: Unknown. Assumed same financial status as Solomon Kirok.
Combat Function: He's an assassin. Honed from fighting and the cloak-and-dagger operations he's done back in Damanta have made him quite the valuable asset when attempting to besiege such a city. Although he's unaware of it, the Force is one of the sole guiding factors in his movements and makes them more refined and fluid. His fighting style can be described as both acrobatic and artistic, almost as if he's dancing with his foes. The Liar may be a skillful fighter but he picks and chooses his targets wisely, usually opting to go after the head of the snake.
Skills: Stealth, infiltration, tracking, and assassination. The Liar's and Solomon's history may be unknown, but all of the Black Legion members know that the brothers are good at what they do and that they've been doing things like this since they were toddlers. Fading into the darkness and the shadows comes as naturally to him as breathing is. Not speaking often and remaining fairly nondescript tends to help with that.
Notable Possessions: Poison-laced straight dagger, mysterious book, dark-brown robes.
Other Notes: N/A

Jorge "Redblade" Adamis
to_victory__by_katemaxpaint-d5mcv2z.jpg
"Some say Redblade had a black heart, and that might be true, but anyone who had seen him take out a six-man foot patrol with a hatchet and a knife would tell you the man had an artist's soul."

Name: Jorge Adamis
Loyalties: Carlos Castillo, the Black Legion
Role: Companion, berserker/murderer
Development Threads: N/A
Age: 27
Species: Human
Force-Sensitive: Yes, unaware and untrained.
Appearance: They don't call him Redblade for nothin'. Besides the fact that his blade eternally bears the blood of his foes, his clothing tends to take upon a crimson shade whether it likes it or not. Though he's washed his clothes numerous times, they are completely stained by blood and all rest easily upon his tall and muscular frame. He'll joke and gamble in camp, but you'd better not beat him, he's got more of a temper than a wookie on a bad day.
Personality: He's a sleeping giant, though lacking the size to perfectly fit that description. He acts like an average Joe criminal when in camp or with comrades, but should his temper spark or he enters combat, many people thank their Gods that he's on their side. Little is known of his discovery by the Black Legion but stories tell of him being covered in the blood of his foes and his greatsword drowning in the crimson.
Weapon of Choice: Two-handed Vibrosword
Wealth: He's got enough money to get by without struggling too hard. Most thieves shy away from him due to his temper and oh-so frightening blade.
Combat Function: Redblade happened to be one of Judas's comrades back in that swordsmans' guild in Hellgast. While Judas learned it to defend himself, Jorge learned it in order to avenge his family. Jorge is nowhere near the skill that Judas possesses, but he knows his swordplay and might even be able to stave off an experienced Jedi Padawan. He's a berserker, so he ruthlessly kills and destroys anyone who bears the colors of his foe.
Skills: Swordsmanship, gambling, petty thievery. Self-explanatory skills.
Notable Possessions: Two-handed Vibrosword, scarlet cloak, stylish beard.
Other Notes: N/A

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
[member="Carlos Castillo"]

Works in Progress should not be posted in the codex. It is for completed submissions. As it stands edits that I will like to see is a clear break down of the unit numbers. 2,000 is high I want to know how many assassins are within the ground.
