SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Immense firepower
  • Heavy beskar barrel
  • Unique styling
Strengths:
  • Firepower- The Beast lives up to its name. Though it's only single shot and takes ages to reload, that one shot is massively powerful. Within its meager 20 meters of range, it has the potential to penetrate anything short of heavy armor made of restricted materials. Anything short of that is in peril.
  • Sturdy- If you miss with your shot, well, the Beast makes a damn good club. You can beat the hell out of it, and whatever's in front of you, and it won't care.
Weaknesses:
  • Reload Speed- In a firefight, you've a better chance of getting a new weapon express mailed to you than you do of getting it reloaded. It takes nearly a minute, and that's if you train really, really hard.
  • Recoil- Even the plasma of a blaster bolt has mass, and when you're hurling a lot of it at high speeds, you're going to get recoil. Two handed operation is recommended, unless you like breaking your wrists.
  • Ergonomics- The Beast is awkward to use. Like, really awkward. There's nothing intuitive about it in the slightest.
  • Explosive Potential- Since it uses gunpowder to fire (lots of it), and since the cartridges are about the size of a hand grenade, The Beast makes the user vulnerable to being blown to bits simply by virtue of carrying reloads. If you get smacked by a stray bolt in the wrong spot, they're going to have to call air crash investigators to identify the body.
DESCRIPTION
The beast carries on the tradition established by Love and Kindness: immense firepower packed into an antique package. It was styled after the venerable blunderbuss, and functions in the same manner.

The user loads a powder charge in the barrel, tamps it down, then inserts the proprietary cartridge. Once the barrel is loaded, one primes the pan with another charge of powder. Half-cock serves as safety. Pull the hammer halfway back, and the channel between the pan and the chamber is physically obstructed to prevent accidental discharge. Cock it back all the way, and the weapon is ready to fire.

When the trigger is pulled, the hammer hurls the flint into the frizzen, which creates a shower of sparks that ignites the powder in the pan. A spark goes from the pan into packed powder in the barrel and sets it off. The force of the blast ruptures the power cell in the cartridge, releasing all of the energy into the hefty tibanna chamber at once. Shaped by truncated galven circuitry in the cartridge, the ensuing bolt flies towards the target. The cartridge, meanwhile, is expelled harmlessly from the chamber by the force of the powder charge.

The resultant bolt is both extremely powerful and extremely unstable. After twenty meters, or when it strikes a target, it explodes violently. The recoil generated by the process is every bit as intense. Unless you're holding on with both hands, you're probably going to break your wrist.

No one will ever accuse The Beast of being practical. But, then again, the word practical has yet to apply to an RCAA creation. We're not about that life.
