DESCRIPTION
The Awakening Society is a social network, wellness centre and philosophical discussion group. It is not a cult. It has offices on practically every planet in the Grumani sector, and organise everything ranging from exercise and book clubs to meditations sessions, as well as owning several privately funded museums of the sector's rich philosophical traditions. It is not a cult. The Society recruits from all strata of society in its mission to "Awaken the innate potential of all beings" through its philosophical discussions and community activities, from the poor and downtrodden up to the upper echelon of society. It is not a cult. The Society has several rings of membership ranging from associate members that join on Taungsday buffets to full time staff that organise events, secure funding, and [data corrupted]. It is not a cult.
The Awakening Society is a cult under the control of the Sith Knight Anthysius. Through it, he has been able to spread tendrils of social control across all strata of society in Grumani as well as open the minds of its populace to Sith ideology. The Society owns a sizable stockpile of weapons, bunkers, and other equipment in case of violence, as well as prepare for the First Awakening when the Sith will come to rule the sector outright.
RATIONALE
The Awakening Society was founded by several of Anthysius' acolytes and retainers to begin seeding dark-side philosophies and maintain social control of the large number of TeleWay workers and employees. While never overtly controlling, Anthysius as president of the society has ensured his control through funding, expansion, patronage and promotion of the wellness benefits of this society.
