SPECIAL FEATURES

  • The Knot: At the center of the manifestation is an ancient Dathomiri artifact known by its creators as a Knot. The Knot binds and stabilizes an otherwise impermanent magical form, preventing it from unraveling.
  • Anchored Pattern: The Knot did not create or prescribe the shape of Acier's new limb. Upon bonding with him, it took the existing bodily and Force pattern of his missing left forearm and gave that pattern a persistent physical form. Acier refers to this function as "anchoring" the pattern, and consequently calls the bonded artifact the Anchor.
  • Somatic Integration: The manifested limb is experienced as an actual part of Acier's body rather than an external device. He possesses natural proprioception and can experience touch, pressure, temperature, texture, and pain through it.
  • Force Integration: Acier's presence in the Force extends uninterrupted through the manifested forearm, wrist, palm, and fingers. Force energy can therefore flow naturally through the limb as it would through an organic part of his body.
  • Pattern Restoration: When the manifested structure is damaged, it attempts to return to the physical pattern maintained by the Knot. It does not biologically heal; rather, separated strands move back into their established positions and reweave the damaged structure.
  • Intuitive Articulation: The manifestation responds directly to Acier's physical intent without a mechanical or cybernetic translation layer. Its fingers, wrist, and forearm articulate naturally despite possessing no conventional muscles or mechanical actuators.
  • Persistent Physical Form: Although magical in origin, the manifestation is tangible. It can physically interact with people, objects, weapons, and the surrounding environment like an ordinary limb.
STRENGTHS
  • No Translation: Unlike Acier's previous cybernetic prosthetic, which used technology to interpret neural signals and reproduce sensation, the Anchor's manifestation is integrated directly into his bodily and Force pattern. There is no perceptible intermediary between intention and movement.
  • Complete Sensation: The manifestation provides Acier with detailed tactile sensation, including pressure, texture and temperature. This permits the fine motor control expected from a natural hand.
  • One With the Force: Acier can perceive and channel the Force through the manifested limb as naturally as through the rest of his body. His awareness no longer terminates where biological tissue gives way to a prosthesis. This does not increase his raw Force power or grant him abilities he does not already possess.
  • It Remembers: Physical damage to the manifestation does not necessarily represent permanent damage. So long as the Knot continues maintaining its established pattern, damaged material can reweave itself into its previous configuration.
WEAKNESSES
  • It Still Hurts: The same integration that grants Acier natural sensation also means the manifestation experiences pain. Cutting, crushing, burning, severing or otherwise damaging the limb can produce pain comparable to damaging an organic limb.
  • Not Healing: The Anchor does not possess conventional biological regeneration. It restores a magical pattern. Effects capable of interfering with the Knot, its magick, or the pattern it maintains can consequently prevent or disrupt reconstruction.
  • Cut the Force, Cut the Thread: Force-nullifying phenomena interfere with the supernatural connection sustaining the manifested limb. Severe disruption can diminish sensation and articulation or cause the manifestation to begin unraveling until the connection is restored.
  • Unraveling the Weave: Techniques specifically capable of disrupting, cleansing, suppressing, or unraveling Dathomiri magick may interfere with the manifestation. Ordinary use of the Light Side does not inherently damage it.
  • The Knot: The limb's ability to restore itself depends upon the Knot maintaining its pattern. Destruction or sufficient disruption of the Knot itself causes the manifested structure to unravel rather than regenerate.
DESCRIPTION
The Anchor is an ancient Dathomiri artifact created by a group of witches known as the Weavers, who practiced beneath the Weavewood long before Clan Vethrisa settled there and later claimed descent from them. Its original purpose was to bind otherwise impermanent magical manifestations into persistent physical forms. Ancient inscriptions summarize this function simply: "Form is given. Form is bound. What is woven must be knotted, lest it return."

Acier Moonbound discovered the artifact, originally referred to as a Knot, within a long-lost chamber beneath the Weavewood. After being activated through blood and the Force, the Knot bonded to the residual limb of his missing left forearm. Rather than determining a form of its own, it drew upon the existing bodily and Force pattern of Ace's missing limb, weaving black material and green ichor into a tangible forearm and hand. Ace subsequently named it the Anchor, reasoning that it anchored this pattern to himself and physical reality.

The resulting limb is neither biological nor cybernetic. It contains no conventional bones, muscles, circuitry, or mechanical components, yet Ace experiences it as part of his body. He possesses natural proprioception and tactile sensation through it, while his connection to the Force extends uninterrupted through the forearm and into each finger.

When damaged, the Anchor does not biologically heal. Instead, its material attempts to return to the pattern maintained by the Knot, reweaving damaged sections into their established form. This makes conventional damage potentially temporary while leaving the Anchor itself vulnerable to effects capable of disrupting the Force or Dathomiri magick maintaining it. Should the Knot itself be destroyed or sufficiently disrupted, the manifested limb would unravel with it.
