Upon their return to Domhanda over 7000 years ago, they had found that some of the Beannacht were powerful and wise enough to become Force Ghosts. These now dead Gods chose Prophets among the priesthood, and held a meeting through them to decide the next High Priest or Priestess to lead the Anam. In recent centuries, however a Royal Family came into existence after dissatisfaction with the Order. However, the current Queen of the Anam, has also been chosen as the next High Priestess. Fire is considered sacred, and all cities have a shrine with a large fire pit for offering burning, and prayer.
  • General behavior: The Anam can be summarized as valuing life above all else. They refuse to kill another sentient being, preferring to incapacitate if they can't avoid conflict. As such, their fighting style is based on countering and immobilizing. Any animals killed for food are treated with the utmost respect, and pieces are often burned as offerings to their gods. Children strong in the force are offered the choice to join the priesthood, those who refuse or not strong enough, continue their daily lives. Family is one of the most important things to the Anam, and one could find up to five generations living in a single home. Piercings and tattoos are commonplace, and expected of the priesthood, with tattoos featuring ornate swirling lines and patterns. Many upper class citizens can be seen with piercings all the way up their ears, and decorative chains hanging from them.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Ruled over and protected by the Beannacht since their early days, the Anam had always known peace. In their formative years, fire was their only source of light and warmth through Domhanda's long nights, and thus was considered sacred. As centuries passed, and their technology advanced, they became noticed by the rest of the galaxy. Their peaceful ways protected by the Beannacht, who hid the Anam behind themselves. Galactic trade with the Anam was done without the galaxy even knowing they existed, as the Rí na Beannachtaí and their advisers were the only ones to make contact with off-worlders.

As their understanding of The Force grew, they began to imbue jewelry and objects with The Force, calling the process "enchantment" and using this pieces as offerings to their gods. Very rarely would these pieces be sold off-world. However, all the Force Imbued objects in the galaxy would not be able to save them from a near planet wide cataclysm over 10,000 years ago. In an exodus begun by the Beannacht, only about 1500 Anam survived, along with the current Rí na Beannachtaí and her egg. Fleeing to Vanquo, the surviving Anam and their last living god, lived and prospered in their newly built Anam City.

For over 3000 years they prospered in their new home, until the Rí na Beannachtaí and her son were corrupted and driven insane by the Dark Side. In an event that would shatter the morale of the Anam, the Rí na Beannachtaí murdered the High Priestess of the time. Once again, the Anam had to leave their home in a second mass exodus, leaving their beloved city behind and their holy temple in a magical stasis. To their surprise, their home planet of Domhanda had recovered from that catastrophe that nearly destroyed in and was habitable once again.

Upon arrival, members of the priesthood found that a few of their beloved Beannacht had lived on as Force Ghosts, and were chosen as prophets. These prophets would convene, and be guided by their gods to find the next High Priest or Priestess, who would lead the Anam people as their leader. Left alone by the greater galaxy due to no one knowing of the existence, this system lasted up until the 400 year darkness began. When a ship containing refugees from the Gulag Plague arrived, the Anam welcomed them with open arms not knowing of the disease. These refugees carried the disease with them, and it quickly spread among the Anam.

The priesthood was unable to save their people, and a large portion of the population died off. Dissatisfied with the priesthood's inability, a wealthy merchant family stepped up and built planetary defenses to keep out other refugees, thus allowing the Anam to begin rebuilding in peace. This family was crowned as the beginnings of an Anam royal family, and was given all executive power that the priesthood once had. This royal family has ruled over Domhanda ever since, with the current monarch being Auburn Síoda. Coming into power just after swathes of her people disappeared, unknown to the Anam, to the Netherworld, Auburn has tried desperately to keep up morale for the Anam over the past nine years of her rule.

With the recent death of the former High Priest, Queen Auburn has been chosen to become the next High Priestess, must to the priesthood's glee, hoping she will end the Royal Family lineage, and give full power back to the priesthood. Queen Auburn has begun to reach out to learn more of the galaxy the Anam reside in, and the current political climate of it.
