The Allies we choose--the Enemies we are Born With

The voice of the speakers blared loudly, echoing throughout the building, the footsteps and screams of the men who occupied it were audible as they started to move closer, it was as if Calvin could feel the bloodthirst in the air as he stopped frozen, his heart pounding as if trying to break out of his chest.

"Why would I know? I never tried escaping before." he retorted his eye grown wide as he looks around the room. He knew a way out, at least suspected that he could escape through the ventilation shaft, but James would never fit, he was a tad to big. His hand moved down to his blaster still set on stun, it seemed a firefight would ensue very soon.

James spit out a curse as he drew his DeathHammer and heard its familiar, if not soothing sound of whirrling as it warmed up. He could feel himself getting incredibly protective of Calvin. He was just a boy. Exposed. Out here in the middle of the open. James would gladly take more than a few shots to make sure the boy was safe. And he had a feeling he would, his armor could take it.

He let out a breath, and it began. The soldiers burst into the room, blasters blazing. James, eyes trained on one of the doors began shooting back. The first to stumble across the threshold took a blaster shot through the skull, sending his body flailing lifelessly to the ground. The next took a shot through the chest that blasted his chest open, sending gore everywhere. The third took a shot to the abdomen, opening his body and searing his flesh, he doubled over in pain, the next behind him tried to use it for cover, only to receive a blaster shot through the forehead, blasting the top of his head onto the back wall.

It was like picking fish in a barrel.

Calvin decided to no longer hole back, he whipped his fingers onto the trigger, a storm of stun blasters barreling fourth towards them as they charged through the narrow entrance. This is bad. These guys are just the foot soldiers. At this rate, we are gonna be overrun in no time. he wanted to scream, but if he did it would have given away the only advantage that he had over them.

He looked to James, his voice cracking in terror as the next words trailed out, "We need to leave. This is a weapon stockpile. Who knows what else they have." he clarified, he knew that if James got caught in a bloody fervor they would never escape and sooner or later, a shot would get through and James would be doomed. And with James done for, so was Calvin.

The kid was right, and James knew it. He kept the trail of blaster fire going into his enemies as he opened his comm to the overhead fleet. There was only one way they had a chance of getting out of here alive and that was making these punks have an equal need to get out of here alive.

"Captain, bomb the base," James ordered.

"But, sir we can see your still--"

"Do it!" James barked, "Now!"

"Yes sir."

A moment later the ground shook and the dust fell from the ceiling. A different siren began to sound--this time one indicating an orbital bombardment and a need to high-tail it out of there. The ground soldiers quickly decided there was a need to get out of there and go somewhere else. A second ground-shaking, booom made the very air reverberate with the feeling of an explosion overhead.

"Lets go," James shouted to Calvin, jerking his head towards the entrance.

Some days, it was really good to be the pirate king.

Calvin fell face first into the ground, a disgruntled growl emanating from his planted face as he pulled himself up, dust sliding onto his clothing as he brushed himself off. Of course. Now the base is being bombed. Great. he thought to himself as he quickly looked to James and Nodded. James was right, if they stayed in here it was the end for them.

"I really thought we were gonna take the weapon stockpile." he muttered as he pulled out his blaster, his feat pulling and swaying over the carcasses that had bathed the entrance, slowing down progress. The feeling of blood as it seeped out, pouring its ways into Calvin's only pair of boots. That was gonna cost him at least three credits to get a new pair of boots.

"I dun't need weapons," James said simply as his feet stepped on the dead.

He was doing his best to block it out, but the spacer knew he would be having nightmares about that later. Or several nightmares.

"I got an entire fleet, a massive city, a ship yard, contracts with three different weapon makers, and an army," he continued as they merged with the mass of living, panicking and feeling humanity. "I need information, more than guns."

The ground shook again under the next shot, this one was heavier, making bits of debris fall from the ceiling. James halted and looked up cursing. This was going to be close. The next shot dislodged several stones, crushing people as they landed. The spacer took Calvin's hand so the boy would keep up and sprinted towards the stairway towards freedom. People were trying to shove through it. James wasn't about to wait. Their doom was sealed anyway. Empowered by the Force and the servos in his armor, James lowered his shoulder and began plowing through them, trampling the beings underfoot or knocking them against the walls. He had a child to save and no amount of fleeing fools were about to stop him.

He charged through the door into the open courtyard. A massive turbolaser shot blasted the ground a few meters before him, sending a tremor in the ground and a spray of dirt across his armor. Another hit the base behind them, and another the ground behind them. It was going to be a mad dash to safety, almost like running through a minefield.

Well. Looks like I'm in rich. he thought to himself as he was pulled along, ideas of what he was going to deal with flung through his mind, reality shifting to fantasy as he imagined the possibilities. Clean Water. Edible food. Maybe he would even have the privilege of a hair dryer. But that was just ludicrous.

As a tremor hit Calvin was tugged back into reality, looking around to see the frantic bodies running to freedom, a giant blast of red engulfing the base as it struck twice, once the bunker, the next the ground, shrapnel of dirt sprinkling through the breeze as it settled back onto the earth. It seemed James was packing more then Calvin originally anticipated.

"Keep close to me," the spacer ordered.

This was going to be a close one. He sprinted across the clearing, making a run for the gate. The Force, through his intuition guided him. He leaped right, ducking for cover behind a stack of crates. Where he had stood moments ago erupted into a ball of fire. He jumped over the barrier and dashed for a flaming speeder. The crates exploded as a turbolaser shattered where he had been standing a few moments ago. Swerving away from the speeder remains, James made for the gate, a blast landing a mere yards from his feet, the after shock was tremendous.

James leaped over what remained of the fence and they were out of the firezone. But not the shock radius. Sprinting for dear life, he didn't dare stop, not until the sound of the bombardment was a dull roar instead of massive thuds. Leaning on his knees panting, James looked to Calvin, "How was that for ye first run, eh?"

Clavin panted for breath, falling over as his body fell limp, his muscles churning in pain from the running. His heart beat and bounced in his chest, as if trying to make its own escape through his chest. A river of sweat rushed down his skin as he tried to realign his own thoughts.

"Wh... why did... lasers. Follow." he spat out, his body trying its best to force out any words between deep and heavy breaths. His head turned around, lines of dust sticking to his face through the sweat as his head rolled back and fourth, staring back towards the thunderous blasts of lasers, now but slight lines of red dotting the distance.

James removed his helmet and wiped the sweat from his brow. If he knew anything about the true nature of the Force he would have said the real answer; his aura was a beacon for danger. However he didn't, all he could do was shrug and say, "I dunno, I seem to have that kinda luck, mate."

After they had caught their breaths, James picked his helmet up and led Calvin to a hidden speeder that had been hidden as part of their planning. After a quick drive, they were soon at the spaceport, back on the Angel and James was flying into the air. Behind them, the speeder was blasted into a thousand pieces, destroying evidence they had been there. And giving the conspiracy theorists something to write about.

Satisfied when they had reached orbit, James pivoted his pilot's chair to look at Calvin and gave him a grin, "So, mate, care to see me city and ye new home?"

Oh... wonderful. I am now working for a man who attributes being followed by giant lasers of death... to luck. he thought to himself, forcing himself not to scream at the top of his lungs. He took a deep breath in its place, dragging his body up and splitting a toothy grin towards James, trying his best to hide the utter terror he had just experienced.

Calvin took no problem with following James, walking seemed like ti would take a while and if the speeder trip indicated anything, it indicated that he was further then he originally thought he was. Soon him and James were on the ship, taking off into space to go and see Calvin's new place. A lot had happened that day. His stuff was stolen, his family butchered, espionage into a dangerous base and of course chased by Lasers. All in all it was a... different day then the one he normally had. Calvin looked with a weak nod, his body falling back into a seat, "Yeah... I suppose I might as well see my new place." he sighed as his weary eyes started to cover the light in darkness, his vision blurring before finally falling asleep.

James smiled tiredly as he saw Calvin slip into unconsiousness. He was a good kid. Too bad he had been through a lot. Especially today. But sometimes you had to watch the world burn to build it back up again, and ashes did make the best fertilizer for plants. The spacer stalked into the bedroom and got a blanket for the lad, wrapping him in it before the jump to hyperspace. James took a quick shower, washing the sweat of running off his body before stowing his armor and crashing on his bed. Sleep quickly engulfed him as well, he didn't have time to even consider grabbing a mouthful of alcohol before he was unconscious.

When he awoke, James could hear the buzzing, a familiar alarm clock for him, stating that they had reached their destination. Stumbling, half naked into the cockpit, the spacer found his way to the source and shut it off. They quickly were out and back in real space. The planet of Soceras sprawled before them. James gave it a smile, it was good to be home.

Calvin twisted and turned through that night, the images of the slaughtered haunting his memories, and a laughter. A twisted voice always laughing as they were slaughtered, it was the Pro Sector. His mind ran wild with what the pro sector could have done, it was a bloody mess that he left behind after all.

His eyes opened filled with terror, sweat sticking to his skin as he bounced up, looking around to see that he was still in James' ship. He got up, his knees trembling as his body ached from everything that occurred yesterday. His eyes were drawn to a nearby planet. He had never seen any planet like this before and made him feel insignificant.

James gave Calvin a pat on the shoulder. Nightmares weren't uncommon for the first passage in space. He would learn to sleep it off, he would. The spacer smiled, drinking in the boy's look of awe and smallness. He had long lost that feeling, jumping from planet to planet. But to see someone else enjoy it for the first time was almost as good. He never got tired of that.

After giving Calvin a generous amount of time to be in awe, he lowered the ship into atmosphere, 'Welcome to Soceras, where I reside as the king. I be the king of the biggest city there, Dal'Bor. A crime city this is, but it were worse before I got here. So many lords, so many shootings. Violence. It were terrible. I be cleaning it up, slowly. Making things better," he turned the ship, tilting it towards the massive building at the center of the city, "This be me nightclub, the Angel's Den. It be where we conduct everything. Offices, landing, everything."

The Lost Angel landed gently on James' private landing pad. The spacer led Calvin down to the open air, the massive metropolis sprawled before them, 'Tell me, mate, what do ye want and need?"

[member="Calvin Justice"]

Back to square one. Calvin thought to himself, it seemed he had been taken from one crime ridden citadel to a new one. The only difference being the people and he had a Crime Lord to watch his back. SO maybe it was more around a square two that he was at. But he digressed in his mind, he had to reestablish himself in the place. He had to get mattress, blankets a water source and a way to get food.

Until James said those words, "What do ye want and need" Those few magic words lit a fire in Calvin's eyes, but he extinguished them quickly, he couldn't come to rely on others when he could do something himself. He straightened himself up and thought what he would need that he probably couldn't get from the alleyways. "All I suppose I need is a bed-frame. I can scrounge up a mattress myself." he responded, he had never found a bed frame, people normally melted it down and sold it for a few credits. "Other then that a place to stay." it was being a bit greedy to ask for a place to stay, he had adapted to the sewers, their rippling water had grown accustomed, though the stench left something to be desired.

James shook his head. That would never do, he pressed a comm line open on his wrist commlink, "Reserve an apartment in Justice Towers, under the name Calvin J. Full gambit."

"Yessir."

The spacer groaned inside as he could see the mass of his advisors, desk jockeys, and droids looking to grope for his attention. He looked to Calvin and gave him a sad smile, 'Mate I need to get to deal with business, if ye dun't mind, one of these lads will see ye to the med bay and we can take care of ye, making sure there are no--well lingering bugs or the sort of thing."

And, of course, a paternity test.

Great. The lap of luxury. he said sarcastically to himself, but at the very least he could sell of most of the knicknacks that he wouldn't need. But that was the least of the issues, he never James was rich, but an entire tower named after himself, almost certainly made by money out of his very own pocket. It would seem he was going to need to adapt fast to this new lifestyle.

Calvin looked around, it was in all of their eyes, the look of greed, the desire for power, corruption had already infected them and now the only lust left in them was to be the kind that came with kissing James bare backside. His gaze was pulled away as a Medical Droid approached, its body holding a chromatic sheen to it as its wires sent signals through its body, an arm extended as he took Calvin with him towards the medical bay.
