Happy Go Lucky Sith!

Across the Dune Sea a lone Sand Crawler silently drove past the rocky terrain, the 8 large treads smashing the rocks to pieces. The twin Suns of Tatooine were rise and the rays started to reflect against the rusted, metal surface of the giant vehicle. From the outside, the Sand Crawler was trucking along without a care in the world. Its Jawa operators carefully guiding the machine towards its intended destination. Yet deep inside, the rest of the Jawas were running to and fro preparing for auction day: one of the most if not the most stressful period when it came scavenging. Droids who were captured or rebuilt were polished with some Jawas plugging into their logic core to run some last-minute diagnostics. Some were praying to the Shaman who was located at the upper levels of the Sand Crawler for good sales today. The Shaman would wave her hand the shells on her necklace clacking against one another.

The Sand Crawler was more than just a simple mode of transportation for junk but a mobile home for swaths of Jawa tribes. This Sand Crawler belongs to the Nacknick Clan: The Clan boasts of making the most profits every year. Though that fact is unsubstantiated, the Nacknicks carry themselves as though they were experts in commerce often making connections with traders and multiple Moisture Farmers. The Nacknicks even had ties to the Damiyos though they were wary of them since the last Damiyo had killed 13 of their clan over a trade dispute regarding a malfunctioning Droid.

The Jawa who handled the Droid: Tiff B'eekth was reprimanded and was sent to the bottom of the Sand Crawler to sort out the newly collected junk. Tiff hummed to himself while began carrying the items separating the weapons from the common items such as plates and cups. He was disappointed being sent here knowing that it wasn't his fault for that malfunctioning Droid but he let it slide, things happen for a reason. That was what his mother told him. <Where good stuff?> Tiff spoke in Huttse. <Tiff make it up to clan with machine that will sell many!>

Mei didn't know how her life had brought her to this place. She had been born on what was formerly an Atrisian penal colony. She didn't know what her ancestors had done to be sent there, but by the time she was born the population had merely been forgotten. They were no longer criminals. Unless you believed that sort of thing was passed on genetically. After all, the population was a result of criminals reproducing with other criminals.

Mei-Zyl was not a criminal. Though if she were truthful with herself, she would say she was never really given the chance to become one. Her gifts became obvious at a young age. The gift of sight most of all. She reported her "dreams" to her parents. Her parents did the same to the elders. The elders thought that Mei's gifts were the key to either leaving the desolate world, or making it into something on par with the other civilized planets of the galaxy. They deserved more after suffering for their kin's crimes.

The elders pushed Mei hard for anything that the Force or whatever was guiding her visions would provide for the benefit of the colony. Finally, what they assumed to be good news came. Someone rich and powerful was going to show up. The elders prepared to welcome their savior. The vision was not the good luck that the elders had expected though. The rich and powerful visitors were Hutt slavers. The Hutt's minions moved through the colony. They took who they thought were valuable and killed the rest. Mei was taken because she was seen as a potentially attractive malleable young female. In Hutt circles that was always valuable. Mei didn't know what happened to her parents. As she was taken away, she watched as her home was burnt to the ground.

For years Mei was the property of Gula the Hutt. She was taught how to entertain the Hutt and his guests with dance. It didn't take long however for Gula to realize that she had other talents. The ability to see things in the Force was quite valuable. For a slaver like Gula it meant a lot of credits. So, after years of misery, Mei was sold off. She thought things would get better. Her new master would value her for her abilities.

Mei was wrong. Her new Master, Velran Kilran Velran Kilran was a crazy lunatic. He used her for her abilities and made himself a powerful man. An Emperor. She gave him the wisdom of her visions and he still gave her nothing but abuse. When the vision of his greatest victory also foretold his demise, Mei didn't inform him. She thought this would be her way out. If the Emperor was gone her life would certainly get better. Though the Emperor's "daughter" didn't want anything to do with his slave women, she also wasn't just going to let them go. She sold them back to the Pargg Hutts.

This time Mei came under the ownership of Gula's younger sister Kloshi. Kloshi had no desire to hold slaves, but she was trying to control Clan Pargg from the shadows. Giving Gula access to someone who could reveal her plans was not an option. Instead, Mei was sent to Tatooine. With no one really caring what she had to offer Mei sunk into a depression that led to more abuse until finally she saw an opportunity and she ran.

Being a runaway slave on Tatooine didn't give a lot of options. Mei ran as far and as fast as she could. After the first day she rested the second day and tried to travel by night to avoid the brutal sun. That night she was frightened beyond belief at the sounds of Tusken Raider scavenging in the darkness. On the third day Mei came across a Jawa sand crawler. She didn't know why it was stopped, but she wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. She snuck inside and found what had to be the scrap room. Leftover parts and droids that were nowhere near ready to be sold. It was the perfect hiding spot…

As the Sandcrawler continued to lurch through the Dune Sea, Tiff continued to hum going through the broken parts that NackNick clan discarded. Jawas weren’t one to waste parts but rather clean them up or rebuild them into something new. However, as it stood, the rusted up pieces of metal weren’t fit to be sold to customers. Not that some Jawas tried much to the displeasure of the clients. Tiff always prided himself with making sure that the stuff he made was high quality which made it really strange to why the droid he sold to the Damiyo malfunctioned.

The tribe would’ve executed Tiff for being indirectly responsible for killing 13 of his kin or worse yet….. he would’ve been exiled. Yet the Shaman who was his mother intervened and the tribe forced Tiff to work the scavenger pit. As Tiff continued to work, he felt a presence…. That tingle again.

<Who there!> Tiff called out. <Tiff armed and dangerous! Tiff will hurt intruder!>

Even though the parts around her were the least usable aboard the sandcrawler, Mei knew that her perfect hiding spot would only remain a place of solitude for so long. Before too long the Jawas would find a perfectly good droid with one teeny tiny bad part keeping it from making the Jawas a few credits. That would being someone here looking for that teeny tiny part.

Mai-Zyl heard rustling amongst the parts that made up the floor of what was basically a room sized trashcan. She found a bit of an alcove in the mountains of parts and tucked inside. Where she was should have been good enough to avoid detection, a little more cover never hurt though. Before she heard the young Jawa's voice however, Mei-Zyl felt that hiding was not going to be enough. This was a special Jawa, but to Mei-Zyl that only meant that her cover was blown.

Mei-Zyl didn't know how, but she understood the high-pitched gibberish that came from the Jawas. She had never really interacted with one. Being a slave on Tatooine however it was hard to avoid them completely. The threats of the Jawa worried Mei-Zyn. A further attempt to avoid contact probably would be viewed as hostile. Mei-Zyl came out of hiding slowly. She raised her hands and hoped to the Force that the Jawa would understand her words, most knew Basic after all. "You don't need to hurt me. I am just hiding. A runaway Hutt slave. I need help."

Truth be told, Tiff was more frightened than whoever it was behind the spare parts. There were many stories of his fellow Jawas being eaten alive by Massiff that sneak into Sandcrawlers to munch on inspecting Jawas. Aera and Bogin died to a pack of Massif while trying to sort out the junk in the lower levels last month and it took 20 Jawas to kill the pack. While the meat was good, It was nothing compared to the two lives that were lost and Tiff was a lone Jawa whom while has some fighting experience, would rather flee.

<Human hiding?> Tiff looked up to see a woman dressed in rags raising her hands up in the air. Tiff once again forgot his weapon in his room but he did have his vibroknife though based on the desperate expression of the woman, he did not need it. <Who you?> Tiff asked though it was out of curiosity rather than hostility. <Why need help? If you have Hutts than that means bad news for my tribe!>

Mei-Zyl trembled just a little bit. She could sense that this Jawa was not the run of the mill Jawa. She could also tell he was young and/or inexperienced. All this she could tell not because of his words or his actions, but because the wind told her so. It of course was not the wind that spoke to Mei-Zyl. It was the Force. A fact that Mei-Zul knew quite well. The Force was something that Jedi and Sith used. Powerful beings. Not slaves.

Mei lowered her hands just slightly to a more comfortable position. She had a feeling that Tiff was not going to be quick to trust her. But he would know that Mei-Zyl was not there to inflict pain on him or his tribe. The sandcrawler was just a place that Kloshi's henchmen wouldn't look for her. If she could get far enough away from Mos Eisley.

Tiff repeated Mei's predicament. She nodded allowing him to appraise the situation on his own. "I'm Mei-Zyl," she said with a gentle smile. It quickly turned to a frown at realizing that she might bring trouble to the Jawas, but more that Tiff knew this already. It would not be easy to convince him to allow her to stay. "My Hutt doesn't care about me. She's not even on the planet. Just put me here to keep me away from her kin. Her people will not think to look for me here. In a couple days they will stop looking. Unless you make a scene of my presence." Mei sighed. She wasn't sure if she was making sense. If the words of a slave would make a difference to a young Jawa. It was more than likely the truth. And if she was allowed focus, she could probably warn Tiff of danger way before it would come to harm them. But what was the endgame with the Jawas? Were they just a means to a new port. She ultimately needed to get off Tatooine.

Tiff tried to put up a front but in truth, he was afraid of this Mei-Zyn. What if she tried to kill him? Maybe she's one of those shaman ladies who would rain down lightning on their victims similar to his mother. <Hutt?> Tiff asked tilting his head to the side but was still cautious around her. <You work for Hutts? Which Hutts? Tiff don't want anything to do with Hutts! Tiff's clan pay off debts!>

But that's not what Mei-Zyn was saying? She mentioned that was on the run from her Hutt. Did that mean she was a slave? <Mei-Zyn is slave?> Tiff asked. <That bad! Tiff doesn't like slavery but slavery is under laws of Damiyo! Tiff and clan will be killed if Hutt people find you!>

But his mother also taught Tiff to be kind to others and Mei-Zyn seemed nice enough. <But Mei-Zyn should not be slave to Hutt!> Tiff said. <Mei-Zyn should stay away from Hutt people! Tiff can hide you! Tiff can be friend! But Mei-Zyn need to be quiet before clan find you and turn you in to Hutt!>
