That Is Not Dead Which Can Eternal Lie [ The Primeval ]

Before Laguz had set foot on Korriban, the shifter had always thought it a hot planet — a misconception most likely fueled by associating red with fire — but personal experience had proven xem wrong. Having paid a visit to the frozen Helska, however, made xem hard to impress when it came to cold deserts. The red planet did have one thing going for it, though; its history. The deceiving sands beneath xir feet were famous for having absorbed the blood of thousands, for witnessing whole empires rise from the ash and then return to it as the dissolved into civil war and in-fighting.

A new order had arrived to subjugate the world, however; a force guided by beings both mysterious and ancient, but — most importantly — absent. In that vacuum of power, a guiding beacon stood; a woman of both exceptional beauty and ability, appointed by none other than those gods to lead her people out of the darkness of the Unknown regions and onto the Galactic stage.

The Primeval, mighty and on the rise, were all about change, and if opposed, the undefeated conquerors wouldn't bat an eye before introducing tragedy to that theater; a theater that had gone too long enjoying the simple, mind-numbing pleasures provided by light-hearted comedy. That era, it seemed, was coming to a close.

Still, first things first; there were still a few obstacles on the way to Galactic domination, and however menial, they still required completion.

Laguz had half a mind to slack around just to hear the crack of the Host Lord's whip, but xe was far too fond of xir skin — regardless of what xe was wearing at the moment — to submit to that sort of treatment. Well, at least not with such a numerous audience. In the private quarters of the Prophet's flagship, however... well, only the all-seeing Gods would know, and fortunately for the shifter, said deities weren't known for sharing their findings with the common rabble.

A small shuttle landed on the surface below.

Stepping out, Anja glanced at the plain vantage before turning to her guards, "I'll be on my own." She walked forward and disappeared into the canyons; off to explore the world. On her mind were the startling rumors of a Sith Lord who sought to take control of Korriban and drive her armies off its red surface. More important interests kept these thoughts from turning to wonder, the secrets of the Sith Academy still plagued her vivid dreams... She was sure there was something beneath its surface; but what?

Approaching from the far side she could see the Academy's peak as she paced towards the Valley of the Dark Lords.

Location: Korriban
Objective: A
Allies: The Primeval, Fellow Tarentatek hunters

Just a few days prior, Ceska Starshield had arrived on Bastion. She had heard rumours of a faction calling itself 'The Primeval' on Nar Shadda. They'd said there were renegade Jedi working for them and that they had recently conquered several worlds. Having no better place to go, she had gone to the fortress world. Now she found herself on Korriban, ancestral home of the Sith.

She had been sent on the Host Ship with a group of others, and she had the distinct impression the Host Lord was watching her in particular. An...audition of sorts, but one that could get her killed. She shivered in spite of herself, whether for the prospect of some creature evicerating her or for the Host Lord's gaze, she couldn't say. Looking upon the desert sands, she was very much reminded of spilled blood.

There too was the presence of the Dark Side all around her, though more an echo than anything, a memory or perhaps shadow. It made her feel as if there was a menacing presence behind her and she had to fight the urge to look back over her shoulder. Her focus had to be here and now, investigating rumours of tarentatek in the Tombs. She had been told they were resistant to the Force and feasted on the blood of Force users like herself. Not to mention swarms of pelko bugs and Force alone knew what else.

Location: Korriban
Objective(s): Explore the depths of the Academy

Tyro'din slowly piloted his personal space craft, The Silent Shadow, down through the atmosphere of Korriban, a planet that was a contradiction in his mind. If one was to judge it by its appearance then that person would expect it to be a barren, desert wasteland, where heated winds blew backed sands into faces. While Korriban was a desert, barren and had strong winds its temperature was extremely low, in fact the only reason it was classed as a desert was because of its lack of water.

When Tryo'din landed he shook his head to remove such thoughts from his head, he was on a mission after all. His job was to enter the bowels of the Korriban Academy and recover any artefacts he thought would be of some use. Since he was on a job, Tyro'din was wearing his combat outfit. A leather tunic with matching leather trousers, a belt that had a dozen, large pouches sewn on and two pistold, one holstered on either thigh, multiple knives hidden through out his person, vials of poisons and toxins and a rifle slung over his shoulder.

Sighing he focussed his mind on the job and turned to disembark the ship, grimacing at the pain that flared when he pulled a scar on his neck, the only physical reminder of his time in the place everyone was calling the Nether.

Kael scratched his head as he looked around the barren waste of a planet that was called Korriban. He had been dragged along for the ride, and as soon as they had touched down his master had left him alone to go searching off for something Kael didn't quite know. 'Probably some gods forsaken Sith artifact, or what not. Kark it. It's of no matter to me.' Kael looked around, hoping to find something that would be interesting to do. After searching aimlessly for a few minutes, he promptly gave up. He spoke out loud to no one in particular, hoping someone would take pity on him and give him something to do.

Kael Kessler: "What the hell are we doing here? Can I have a job to do or something? I don't want to stand around with my finger up my ass thank you very much."

((Can I haz someone tell me about Objective B?)

Condor stretched slowly as he walked towards the Sith tomb. It seemed to spook a lot of the members of the Primeval, but Condor couldn't use the Force and he was certainly too tired to care either way. He munched passively on a ration bar as he checked his equipment, making sure his weapons and wings were functioning at optimal levels. The wings wouldn't serve much of a use in the tomb of course. The large size of the wings, although useful for gliding, were absolutely useless in confined spaces. Condor wasn't necessarily claustrophobic, but he definitely preferred some place where he could move around.

Yawning, he folded the wings back into the jetpack and slung it around his shoulders, priming his rifle at the same time. He had brought some special equipment for the mission that he was hired for, mostly a head lamp and some stun grenades on a belt around his waist. He was supposed to go down to the tomb to fight some sort of monster that was notorious for killing Force users. Luckily, Condor had less Force in him than a rock. That was one of the reasons why he was hired for the mission. Unlike the dark Jedi and Sith, he wasn't a liability when it came to any sort of anti-Force creature. He functioned pretty much the same no matter what he went up against. Dependable and reliable, that was he.

Finally, he gathered the energy to walk to the giant tomb. He switched on his headlamp and walked right on in, not hesitating for a second. Despite his nonchalant posture, he had his rifle in a ready position, just in case he ran into anything that wanted to kill him. Looking back at the entrance, he waved his hand, beckoning the others to follow his lead and look for the teretatek.

Perla wordlessly came up behind the warlock initiate and using the Force signaled for him to follow her into a waiting speeder which bore the insignia of the Sith Academy. Once they were settled into the back of the speeder, she briefed him on why they had been sent to Korriban:

"A Sith Lord named Darth Phokus at the Academy suspects that one of his six students is planning an uprising against him with the help of a rival Sith Lord. But Darth Phokus can't go directly to the students because he would rather catch them in the act and eliminate the traitor rather than foil the plan and have the student escape somehow. The Host Lord would like for us to interrogate the students to find out which one is plotting against him." The witch shifted in her seat and looked out the window briefly to see how close they were to the Academy. "She said once we identify the renegade, we're also allowed to torture or execute them as a reward," she added.

The brunette witch stopped speaking, momentarily distracted by the bones adorning Kessler's garments. "I see you're a hunter too. What is your favorite prey?"

Ceska had made her way towards the Tombs, hand resting on her lightsaber hilt the entire time. The sandy ground crunched under her boots, giving her the feeling of stepping on the bones of the countless dead in this place. As she drew nearer to the Valley of the Dark Lords, the Dark energy felt as if it were concentrated there. She gazed around her as she began to pass by the first of the ancient, broken monuments.

She wondered what this place would have felt like when it were truly alive. No doubt that the corruption of the Dark energy would have pulsed like a monstrous heartbeat instead of the dull throb. Would it have driven beings to mad acts of violence and destruction, would it not wear down the very stones of the buildings like an insidious rain? But even the memory of it felt...exhilarating.

The Host Lord wandered towards the entrance, the path behind her winded back to her ship where her guards remained. Quickly she noticed a familiar figure approach -- one of her agents. If Tyro'din wanted to join her, he could, but she did not wait to meet him but instead delved into the main chamber; where she and [member="Darth Vornskr"] spoke some time ago. The musk of death lingered foully, bodies long removed still left the scent of their demise even after all this time.

Her boots clacked along the floor and resonated within the great walls that once housed hundreds of acolytes in service to their Sith Empire. Now under The Primeval it will be rebuilt, forged anew.

Tyro'din followed behind his Host Lord, his bare feet silent on the floors compared to the echoing sound of the woman's boots. He was following his Lord, drifting behind her like the shadow he always tried to be, aiming to see to her protection from any threats as well as recovering artefacts. His nose was twitching every now and then as the faint smell of death kept flowing through it.

As they walked through the halls of the ancient academy, Tyro'din swung his rifle over his shoulder and locked it into place in his shoulder, inserting VENOM Slug Ammunition as he did so, thinking of using it to clear any doors or blockages, if they occurred.

Condor scanned around the tomb, the beam of his headlight briefly lighting up the darkness as he glanced around, his rifle in the ready position. He looked behind him and noticed some sort of padawan, another member of the Primeval. He didn't know her name, but then again he didn't know anyone's name. He had only worked with the Primeval a few times, and with all of the people he worked with, names slipped his mind constantly. One of his jobs was to protect any members of the Primeval that were working with him, which he understood. He wasn't anyone important, and he didn't even use the Force. He was expendable.

However, this padawan definitely wouldn't be able to handle a Terentatek on her own. Heck, he probably couldn't either. Due to the nature of his mechanical wings and jetpack, he had travel light, and that meant never having any heavy weaponry. He had a fully automatic blaster rifle and some grenades, but nothing with a huge amount of stopping power. That wasn't his job. His job was almost always scouting, extraction, aerial support, but never any frontal assaults.

Sighing, he stopped his search briefly to motion to the Padawan to fall in behind him, and closely. Using any sort of vocal communication was not wise, as the noise could attract unwanted attention. It would have made sense in most situations to have any sort of lightsaber wielding Force user in the front, but since this was a Padawan, Condor felt he should take point. He tightened his grip on his rifle as they slowly but surely went deeper into the dark abyss of the tomb.

Ceska noted the man working with her, ostensibly some kind of scout but no doubt a mercenary. Those whose loyalties were to credits alone could never be completely trusted. However, she was more than happy to fall in behind him. If someone had to die today, let it be him and not her.

As they made their way into the Tomb, she silently unhooked her lightsaber but didn't ignite it. Doing so would certainly attract the attention of anything in here. As she reached out through the Force, feeling for danger, she wondered if a creature who fed upon those like herself could sense the Force. It was dangerous either way, blundering into the huge beast or alerting it to her presence.

Perla Pijro: "A Sith Lord named Darth Phokus at the Academy suspects that one of his six students is planning an uprising against him with the help of a rival Sith Lord. But Darth Phokus can't go directly to the students because he would rather catch them in the act and eliminate the traitor rather than foil the plan and have the student escape somehow. Kael Kessler: Kael listened to the girls words, and sorted through all the information that had been given to him. 'Ah I see. Sounds simple enough them. It's been a while since I've had something interesting to do. Hopefully this will be exactly what I need.' His eyes were glazed over as he thought, and he realized she'd asked him a question a few moments after she'd finished speaking. It took him just long enough for things to have gotten awkward. He shrugged his shoulders before speaking. "Whatever I can catch I suppose." A few moments passed once more, and Kael resisted the urge to groan. 'Wow. Karking smooth eh? Way to make conversation with the only person who'se actually spoken to you like a regular karking human being since you left Kaas.'Kael sighed, and spoke again hoping the situation was not as awakward as it felt. "Well, I suppose we've got a job to do then. Let's go interrogate some apprentices. Do you have any idea where we are supposed to be headed so that we can start our task. Once we reach the Academy of course."

"I don't have the exact specifications but only that we'll be going to a lower level," she answered. The upper echelons of the Academy were reserved for only the highest ranking Lords and Masters. Perla glanced out of the window and said, "We're here."

The speeder turned the corner and glided into a red canyon with high walls carved out of the rock on either side of the roadway. The Sith Academy stood before them, its angular stone and durasteel design signaling its impenetrable nature. The speeder stopped at the base of the Academy near the immense statues of humanoids which marked the entryway. As they exited the speeder they were greeted by one of Darth Phokus's students. The student, a black-robed human male, took them to a lower level of the Academy as Perla predicted. In front of an unadorned door, the student knocked, was admitted and for two minutes left Perla and Kael out in the hallway alone. Eventually he came back out.

"Darth Phokus will see you now," he said bowing his head at the witch and warlock. He opened the door for them. Inside the room stood Darth Phokus, a tall Massassi. His yellow pupil-less eyes drank them in. A female Twi'lek slave stood in the corner with her head down. She did not meet their gaze as the red-skinned Sith Lord did. In a deep growl, he said. "You must be the assistants I requested. The Host Lord disappoints me. I thought she would be sending emissaries who had a little more muscle."

Perla tried not to roll her eyes at Darth Phokus's comment lest she be whipped and sent to stand by the Twi'lek slave for insubordination. But she came here to interrogate and not pacify the Sith Lord like some fawning sycophant. Still, something needed to be said in the Host Lord's defense.

"You are wise to notice our physical build is not that of a Gen'Dai but I assure you, we are capable of inflicting pain and distress that is both corporeal and psychological."

Anja continued to march quietly through the halls, peering down corridor after corridor as they delved deeper. Whatever was hidden below the grand citadel of sorts must've been kept secret for a reason; a good one. Why the Host Lord was keen to discover this on her own was a puzzle to many. Reputable for her insatiable curiosity, it's expected that she'll make surprising and bold decisions. Even without guards she's strong enough to hold her own against some of the most powerful foes one could find within.

Although she didn't look towards him, Anja acknowledged Tyro'din's presence and accepted that he was following her. Perhaps he could pick up on this signal, if not he could at least know she wasn't protesting.

Tyro'din walked behind Anja, glad that she was tolerating his presence. While he refused to bow to most, physically or mentally, the Host Lord was one of the few he respected and allowed to be in a high position of authority than he without fuss. Most of the time he would try to steal authority from those above him in the ladder, dealing as much damage as he could during the power grab, but Anja Aj'Rou was one person he would never dream of trying to top out of a heavy dose of respect. It was this respect that would have forced him to stop his duty as an Agent protecting the Leader, even if she didn't need protection, if she ordered him to.

While the silently walked down the halls, every now and then he would enter a room and expose some wiring before attaching an inactive data spike and returning to his position behind the woman in front of him as they headed deeper into the depths of the Academy. So far all he had seen was empty rooms, apart from the odd few which obviously served as weapon storage (he would mark these rooms on a map on a datapad as rooms to loot later so that the weapons could be tagged), but he had a feeling that something powerful was below them, and if he guessed correctly it was there that Anja was heading.

Objective: Explore the Academy

Both Anja and Tyro'din could clearly feel the same thing... Power; and it was close.

The source of this surging strength in the force was enigmatic at the very least. Perhaps something--or someone--was hiding from them or stalking from the shadows. It was difficult to tell exactly what they felt but at the same time it seemed all too familiar. Sparking a familiar memory, Anja couldn't help by think of when Darth Vornskr appeared before her in the very same temple but it wasn't him; she knew that much. A greater realization would come soon as the Host Lord stepped through a yet functioning doorway and into what looked to be a lift. Up or down?

Turning to the Bothan she began to ponder on what course of action the two should take. Finally she broke the silence.

"Wherever this lift leads I'm sure there will be something waiting for us..."

Darth Phokus's yellow eyes flashed angrily for a moment and Perla felt a deep, unsettling nausea in her stomach, presumably from the Sith Lord's magic penetrating her body and mind. She then felt intrusive tentacles of the Force seeking out her weaknesses and insecurities. The Massassi was so powerful she nearly doubled over in pain but she knew he could feel her vulnerability. She would fight with every fiber of her being not to show it.

And suddenly the feeling ceased. Perla glanced at Kessler, wondering if he was subjected to the same violation by Darth Phokus. The Sith Lord spoke again in a deep baritone: "My students are below in the jails. There are three that I suspect above the others. But I want you to interrogate all six of them. Withstanding torture is good experience for my students regardless of this plot to usurp me." He again surveyed Perla and Kessler with a taut frown, his eyebrow stalks subtly moving like antennae. "This is also a test for you two. You either execute a traitor today or I execute you."

Then he flicked his hand at them as though they were insignificant insects buzzing around him. "Now go. Find the maggot who dares to betray me."

A bored foot kicked at the pebbles that were unfortunate enough to find themselves in its path, sending them flying through the cool Korriban air. Soon enough Laguz realized what a good and entertaining sport this was, however, and instead of random prods of xir boot, the shifter started aiming for real. As one might expect, xir companions weren't nearly as amused at the idea as xe was, but the hunter was clever and skilled enough to conceal the source of the projectiles.

To avoid causing any more trouble — more for xir sake than anybody else's, though — the shifter snuck away soon enough, leaving the rest of the Primeval to fend for themselves as xe decided to scale an intimidating cliff instead. Such a productive member of the community, Laguz. [member="Anja Aj'Rou"] would be proud.

Well, the recently slighted sniper found xe didn't really care what the Host Lord thought, in the end — and what she didn't know couldn't hurt her, right? — so instead of lamenting xir fate, the hunter went on a stroll on the plateau above the valley, basking in the rays of the sun as xir boots stirred up red dust. Whatever the hitchhiker's guides to the Galaxy liked claim about the planet was most likely a product of Republican propaganda, because on both occasions that xe'd visited the world, Laguz had found nothing but fun and delight in xir trip.

Well, not that xe really cared either way. The shifter was here to sip cocktails, crack wise and generally make a nuisance of xemselves. What a day to be alive.

As he stepped into the lift, Tyro'din let out a gruff bark of dry laughter. "My dear leader. It is my opinion that there is always someone waiting for you wherever you go, with good and bad intentions. You just have to be always prepared." He bowed slightly at the end of his little speech, arm moving out to hit the button to move the lift down as he did so. "And it is always a good idea to confront those that wait, it rude not to." He drawled out the last bit through a sardonic smirk.

As the lift descended, Tyro'din locked away all of his emotions behind the many masks he had perfected over the years. He knew through past experience that it would have no effect against Anja, but it would help him to ignore all emotions and expand his focus. "Do I have marching orders for when this lift stops, Host Lord?" He asked, immersed in his Agent Mask, snapping into an "At Ease" stance.
