Jan VonFowl

Part-Time Party Crasher
Taris... Jan had to admit that he'd never expected himself to come here. From what he'd heard, there were Mandalorians and Jedi, and all sorts of other people he wanted to avoid on this planet. So why was he here? The answer was simple: speeder races. Three thousand years ago, Taris had been the birthplace of the sport. Podracing, swooping, and stunt driving had all basically gotten their start here.

Although the planet still only held about a fifth of the population that it had in those ancient times, racing was beginning to make its way back home. Jan had been able to make a little over a hundred thousand credits in the span of a week, between racing and not-so-humbly betting on himself.

That wasn't his current concern, though. His current concern was the fact that he was trying to teach his lovely girlfriend to cook in their hotel room. The cooking wasn't the concerning part. The fact that he'd gotten distracted by Sky smiling at him was. In fact, the food was already done and ready for them to eat.

"Let's see how this tastes, darlin'."

"Okay." Though Sky was smiling, she was nervous. At least this time she hadn't practically poisoned Jan. The past few weeks with the VonFowl had been nerve wracking, at top speed, and just plain awesome. A few weeks before they had come to Taris, Jan had introduced her to his cousins, the SIn Family, who were basically the only family he had left. The last few days had been filled with podraces, swoop runs, and all sorts of dangerous races, and Jan was making a fortune by both racing and betting on races.

"You aren't gonna race again today right Jan? You need a break or you're going to have a breakdown." She carefully took a bite of the breakfast, and found it better than she imagined it. She was slowly getting better at cooking.

The stripe-haired Vahla leaned down to give his girlfriend a kiss on the cheek. He had to admit, she was right to be worried about him. He still hadn't been disqualified or forced out of any of his races yet, but there'd been a couple of close calls that'd also nearly made him a melted puddle of VonFowl. Shaking the thought out of his head, he walked over to the coffee machine and began pouring as much coffee, milk, and sugar as he could fit into their two mugs.

"Don't worry, Sky. I know when it's time to- yeowch!"

Jan's yelp came from him spilling a bit of the coffee on himself. Even though he managed to get the hot liquid off his finger quickly, he still had a red mark from the burn. He brought their drinks to the table and set them down before he cuddled up to Skylar with a mock-grouchy look on his face.

"Anyway, I need cuddles and kisses from a certain lovely pickpocket, and I think Romeo might be dropping by later. Lots of stuff to make me keep today's schedule open."

Taris, a few years ago, Romeo had been here, there had been war, Rakghouls, and Sith. Now it looked like nothing had ever happened. This was also the place Revan had crashed landed with one Onasi when the Sith Lord Malak had attacked his ship. Taris was riddled with history, with more to come. As far as Romeo was concerned, his cousin, Jan, was staying here with hopes of making money from the races Taris was so famous for, and he was succeeding in that goal.

"Hey, act like we retired would you?" His once first mate Toligon spoke to him. Romeo had been with many women, though only two could...control him. He was tense, his black jacket with the the white fur on the ends of each part of it were being stretched downward from his hands shoved in it's pockets.

"I'm fine, just...remembering things about this place." It had been bloody. He doubter Jan knew much about it. "Dredge was here...killing hundreds." Romeo spoke softly. Toligon patted his back gently, "Let the past rest." Part of Romeo wanted to go back to Eclisptica, retake his throne, and live his life in peace, but the Primevil had surrounded the planet, probably a taunt to see if he would come back.

So many enemies. So little choices.

"You're right." Toligon and Romeo weren't an item, they just understood each other.

Sky practically jumped up from the table when Jan yelped, but settled back down when he came back over with his cute, mock-grumpy face and leaned her head on his chest as he snuggled up to her.

"As you wish." Sky leaned up and kissed Jan teasingly as she said this.

"Mmph."

Jan was grinning again when he finally pulled away. Just being around Sky was relaxing. He rested his face in her hair and closed his eyes.

"Maybe I'll just sit here like this for the rest of the day."

"I wouldn't mind that." They stayed in that position for a while, Jan's face in Sky's hair, and Sky's head on his chest, but all good things must end at some point.

"You said something about guests? Do we need to prepare for Romeo to get here?" Sky had met Jan's older cousin once before at a meeting where Jan had driven the Fowlmobile into the lobby of a hotel, while she had been asleep in the back. One thing was for sure; there is never a dull moment with a VonFowl.

Jan looked up from Sky's hair to glance around the room before shaking his head. Besides the fact that their apartment was pretty cleaned up, he didn't care what his cousin thought of him all that much.

"It's alright. Let's just rest until he does get here. It's a nice morning for this."

So, he resolutely went back to cuddling. Even if he hadn't been enjoying it so much, he would've stayed right there out of stubbornness.
