SPECIAL FEATURES

• Solvent: The Thanatos Virus is transmitted mainly through transference of bodily fluids and liquids, the latter means that while it isn't technically airborn, it can still be carried and dispersed through means of vapors and atomizers.
• Variable incubation period: With a incubation period ranging from several minutes to several hours, the duration and length of this period is dependant on the amount of the virus ingested and the severety of the location in which it has been administered. The rough, overall estimated physical status of the infectee also plays a large role, with healthy individuals having a longer incubation period compared to the elderly, children or people with an impaired immunity system overall. Aerial inhalation will always take longer than introduction of the virus directly into the body's circulatory system.
• No Vaccine: No, a vaccine does not exist, but vaccines against other Blackwing Virus strains and anti-viral suppressants can delay and extend the incubation period.
• Reinfection of Blackwing survivors: due to its very nature being that of a superior strain of Blackwing having been further modified and turned into an effective biological weapon, it may even reinfect those who have had come into contact with the older, less virulent forms of the Virus.
• Infectees will have built-in passiveness: As part of the Thanatos project which created this virus in the first place, the carriers and infectees of this virus will have an innate, built-in passiveness towards those who already carry a version of BW-71, this is a safety meassure to avoid overexposure with other programs based on the BW-71 strain. On the other hand, those who would not carry a version of the BW-71 strain will effectively be targeted with great violence and fervor.

STRENGTHS

• Hard to eradicate, highly lethal modified virus: Once you get this virus in your system, chances of survival or being cured are extremely slim. the lethal treshold is very low and a single bite or scratch may already be enough.
• The dead don't die: The aftereffects of the virus are equally terrifying and terrible in meassure, with 'technical' death not being the end of the virus' ravages upon societies. Those who have succumbed to the virus may still have high motorfunction and basic, primitive understanding, forced by the instinct to spread the virus.
• Easily transmitted: As it is a solvent virus, it is capable of being transmitted relatively easily through means of contact with bodily fluids, atomization or vapors.
• Easily Contained: Anyone who wants to utilize this virus will be pleased to know it is easily contained and safe for transport in designated containers.

WEAKNESSES

• Not airborn: While this should not be the worst thing, as the virus isn't airborn, means of neutralizing it in enclosed spaces are abundant, ranging from heavy gasses to incineration, it also means it will still not spread at the same starting rate as airborn viruses.
• Incubation can be delayed: While there is no vaccine against the virus in production, most specific Blackwing vaccines or broad spectrum viral suppressants may lengthen the incubation period, with even the thought being there that it could be delayed indefinately by monitoring the suppressant dosages and no reinfection occurs.
• Uncontrollable: This virus can infect and attack essentially any and all living creatures, including plants and even funghi, making it an extremely dangerous and uncontrollable virus. Once unleashed upon a place (not just a population), it may see an exponential growth rate through its nature of infecting anything which biologically is considered "living".

DESCRIPTION
The Thanatos virus is the direct result of the Thanatos project ran by the Section C division. The idea was to utilize the BW-71 strain and to use its basic properties to create a means through which entire populations could be controlled and subjugated. While it was once known under another name, the program effectively was seen as a continuation from the old programs the N&Z had been conducting in the 800's ABY. Now with new leadership, the return of the originator of the virus' progenitor strain and the renewed desire for unbound experimentation and research.

The many changes which had been found, documented and studied during the project, eventually led to what can be considered the first, final stage of the experiment, dubbed the main Thanatos Virus, or BW-71MS. Utilizing the knowledge of the projects which came either before it or which had been running concurrently, the Thanatos Virus was tested rigorously, usually through live testings and off-records research and experimentation. With the actual production controlled and deliberately kept on low numbers before any sanctioned approval could be given, the Thanatos virus was quietly and effectively kept under the wraps, with no documentation leading to the N&Z proper, its link to the old N&Z expunged from 'most' data.

The virulent, exponentially uncontrollable nature of the Thanatos virus was documented after a live test in one of the labs run by Section C, where the test yielded unexpected results and unexpected outcomes which had led to the total meltdown and destruction of said lab. While the virus is now kept in storage, Section C has begun to force increased production of anti-viral suppressants in case of an outbreak that has not been started under their oversight.
