Biography:

Born Amaya Paanest, Thalira Kiing was raised in a middle-class household on Alderaan. Her mother pursued art, while her father worked as an engineer. From a young age, Amaya was captivated by her father's trade and aspired to follow in his footsteps. Polite, curious, and well-behaved, she stood in stark contrast to her rebellious older sister, Thalaia. Despite their differences, the sisters shared a strong bond.

As a teenager, Amaya took a job with a local starship salesman who taught her the fundamentals of ship maintenance, piloting, and commerce. She excelled in the role and was soon offered an internship that promised a future in starship sales. However, her plans unraveled when Thalaia fell gravely ill with an unexplained condition. The cost of treatment was astronomical, and even then, the doctors offered no guarantees.

Amaya chose to abandon her budding career to care for her sister in her final days. After Thalaia's death, grief consumed her. She withdrew from her family, disappeared from her former life, and eventually turned to petty crime just to survive. One night, she stowed away on a freighter bound for Tatooine, where her descent into the criminal underworld deepened.

A burglary gone wrong changed everything. Amaya broke into the wrong house—the home of a bounty hunter—who captured her and sold her to a Hutt crime lord. Enslaved, she was initially forced into hard labor, but her frail physique led her captors to exploit her for more demeaning purposes. Amid the darkness, she began quietly honing her skills with computer terminals, learning to manipulate and bypass systems.

Years later, those skills became her salvation. When tasked with greeting a high-profile mercenary, Amaya used a nearby console to reprogram her droid guards. They turned on the mercenary, killing him. She seized the opportunity, stole his ship, and escaped.

She fled to Nar Shaddaa, trading the stolen vessel for a YT-2400 freighter. Before registering the new ship, she legally changed her name to Thalira Kiing, severing the last ties to her past. Life on Nar Shaddaa was rough, but Thalira used her talents as a hacker to carve out a living. Over time, she built a reputation as a discreet and effective operator in the galaxy's criminal underbelly.
