BIOGRAPHY:

Thalira Kiing, born Amaya Paanest, comes from a middle-class family on Alderaan. Her mother was an aspiring artist, and her father was an engineer. In her adolescence she was fascinated by her fathers work, and wanted to grow up to be like him. Growing up, she was a well-behaved girl, making her nearly a polar opposite of her older sister. While she seldom got in trouble, Thalaia was arrested over a dozen times before she was an adult. And although they had very opposite personalities, Amaya and Thalaia still got along swimmingly.

In her late teenage years, Amaya started working for a local starship salesman, who agreed to teach her the basics of business, flying, and taking care of ships. She enjoyed the work, and was naturally pretty good at it. The owner of the shop offered her an internship, and she was fully prepared to accept it, but then her sister inexplicably became gravely ill. None of the local doctors could explain the illness, and it would cost a small fortune to pay for researching it. However, the doctors said that even with funding, there was no telling if they could cure Thalaia before she passed away.

Since there was no way of helping Thalaia, Amaya left her job and spent every moment with her sister, until she inevitably died. Thalaia's death sent Amaya down a path of depression, and she distanced herself from everyone she knew, including her parents. She ran away from home, and went into a life of crime to fend for herself. Eventually she stowed away on a ship that brought her to Tatooine. She continued her criminal life there, until she decided to burglarize the wrong house. The owner of the house, a bounty hunter, caught her and sold her to a local Hutt crime lord.

Life as a slave was not good for Amaya. She was used for manual labor, but it didn't take long for her slavers to realize she was considerably physically weaker than most people her age. So instead she was used for pleasure. Since most people generally didn't think much of her, she was able to mess around with computer terminals here and there, learning the ins and outs. Her skill-building paid off after a few years when she was assigned to meet a high ranking mercenary coming to work for the crime lord. A squad of droids were watching her, but she managed to reprogram them via a nearby terminal. When the mercenary arrived, she had the droids kill him, then she stole his ship and flew away.

Amaya left Tatooine en route to Nar Shaddaa in order to hide from the crime lord, because he was chasing her. She found a black market ship dealer, where she traded in her stolen ship for a YT-2400, and before she went to get paperwork and identification numbers for her new ship, she legally changed her name to Thalira Kiing. She stayed on Nar Shaddaa for a while, and she even decided to offer her acquired skills as a hacker, doing jobs here and there for money. She slowly built a reputation for herself as a capable hacker.
