D E A T H L E S S

  • Thal is a brute- he stands over six and a half feet tall, with an imposing figure from years of fighting... and built from the same stock as his father, Preliat Mantis Preliat Mantis . To that end, Thal's presence is one of a fighter, a brawler and a man who's had a rough go at it all. Through the force he projects the same energy as an animal- and to his credit, it's not entirely wrong. Thal, shares more traits with his mother than his father. Fairer skinned than his dark skinned and jet-black hair wielding father, Thal takes his looks from his mother, but his physique.... and (supposed) curse from his father.

Thal is a man in progress, young in age but already experienced some of the darker parts of the galaxy. He's gone through hell- and narrowly coming out of the other side on top of it all.

He now looks for his place in the galaxy.

    Like his father before him.

  • Born to Preliat Mantis and an Echani tryst some 20 years ago- Thal's mother abandoned him to the Hutts to be raised as a slave in exchange for a hefty amount of money and drugs. As such, Thal was thrust into a particularly brutal slave ordeal at the now-burned Red Tower (by Thal's own hand).

Life at the Red Tower made Thal a brutal man, effective at combat. Fights to death or to their near deaths every night, Thal faced combatants, slaves, and challengers from all over the galaxy. And thanks to his gifts in the force, his physicality, and his willingness to survive and enact revenge, Thal survived.

Night after night, battle after battle.

The Grim Reaper's touch never graced Thal Mantis- and thus he gained the title "Deathless".

Thal's escape from slavery came in the spaces between seconds on Manas, where wounded he was rescued by the local tribes and the ORC- eventually traveling across the galaxy, bringing his wrath against his former captors, the Red Tower- until he met his match, overwhelmed in the Shadowlands beneath Silver Rest.

It was there that Thal's path diverged, and he was rescued by the Silver Jedi, and taken in by the Jedi- and told of not only his gifts from the force, but that he seemed familiar. Not even months- barely a year, prior, his father walked the same halls, unaware of the existence of his son.

The Jedi's love and acceptance did not deter the rage in Thal, the fire inside of him burned too bright, too hot. He set out on his own again- a domino effect that rippled across those he cared about. It was only by the ordeal of several Silver Jedi members and now-Sith that Thal realized that his hatred would bring him no peace, and he is beginning to let go of his hate.

Though his perdition comes at a great personal cost to him.

  • Thal, simply put, is not a man you want to be in close proximity to. His skill with his fist, body and blade is something to note, but the sheer physicality makes him a difficult opponent all on his own. He's especially at gathering the force into himself to amplify his physical traits. While this could be focused into battle meditation, Thal's clouded mind and troubled past prevent him from advancing further into the Jedi- and as a person.

Thal has recently learned to channel his anger and passion into a form of electrical judgement- though, he finds it difficult to control, and it usually ends up in a shower of sparks and electrical currents, and his mind drawing on a sense of justice usually ends up leading him down a darker path of rage and hatred, and remembering the horrors he inflicted, and had inflicted upon him.

  • Nida Perl Nida Perl -

A Jedi who helped on his redemption, and in a great case of irony- saw herself following the path he was saved from. She was one of the first people in Thal's life to show him genuine kindness. He will never forget that.

    Thirdas Heavenshield Thirdas Heavenshield -

Another man who aided Thal in his quest for redemption, only to see his one and only love fall apart. A true soldier- Thal respects him highly, if not for his skills, if for his honor and personal courage.

    Romi Jade Romi Jade -

A mother to a motherless, and a source of hope when he had none. A person whom Thal move mountains for.

    Vilaz Munin Vilaz Munin -

A ruthless, hardened Mandalorian who offered Thal another path in life, a branch which he has not taken. A warrior and a tactician, Thal received a gift in the form of a holocron of data collected about his father, pictures, recordings, documents that helped him understand the man who was his father. At one point, Thal hated his father- Vilaz helped Thal change that.

    Kyra Perl Kyra Perl -

A great friend, in need of help and direction, just as he was. She helped him find his path, and in doing so, lost hers when her sister and family was ripped apart. Thal's guilt weighs heavily on him, for it was his actions that caused her sister's downfall, and ultimately, aided in Kyra's current plight.
