Company Name: Tezmond Solutions
Company Type: Private
Tier: II
Headquarters: Chandaar (Republic, Tion Cluster, Outer Rim).
Location(s):
Operations:
Products
Rationale/Description:
During his time as a combat engineer in the Republic Military, the Draag Dirgus Tezmond usually found himself unimpressed with the weapons and equipment of the Army. That led him to tinkering with his own equipment to customize it to his liking. People around him liked what they saw, so they started requesting that he improve the functionality of their equipment too, offering tips and alcohol as compensation. Dirgus was never one to turn down credits or booze, so he gladly entered into such transactions. As he advanced further into his career, small modifications had progressed to full blown fabrications of his units; equipment, barely resembling the original reference object. Many of his superiors didn't care too much for his fabrications, and Dirgus was tired of fixing their crap for them on sergeant's pay, so after 8 years of loyal service, he separated from the military (honorable discharge) to pursue a career as a defense contractor. Now as a contractor, he could charge the government exorbitant prices for the same work he had been doing for "free" as a soldier.
Dirgus had done his homework, so he knew know difficult it would be to break into the contracting world. First you needed investors and workers, so while in the military, he was careful to network with disgruntled contractors, and retiring military personnel looking to turn part of their pension deposits into profitable investments. Successful networking netted him all the investors he would need for funding. Next was the hook. Being a non-human, he decided cater his wares to other non-humans, which he felt was an untapped market. He also banked on the renaissance of projectile weapons and munitions, standing out in that realm by offering a line of modern linear guns to compete with archaic firearm designs.
Finding success in the above niche markets, he was able to use the profits he reaped to expand his business and explore other avenues dominated by the big players of the defense contracting world. For the type of growth he wanted, it wouldn't suit him just filling niches forever. Fortunately, at the time he began his next wave of expansions, there was the outbreak of several intergalactic wars. He saw his business booming like never before as mercenary groups, revolutionaries, and planetary security forces scrambled to buy up all the hardware they could. Things were looking good for Dirgus so far, but there was always room to grow.
