STRENGTHS
  • (+) Electro-Plasma Pulse: utilizes highly ionized blaster gas tuned to stun to overwhelm both organics and droids. The resulting blast is omnidirectional, capable of bypassing armors and shielding by potentially leaking through gaps (bodysuits, exposed joints, etc), and is comparable in strength to a HeadBanger.
WEAKNESSES
  • (-) What's That Noise: the ESP-11 generates a conspicuous whine as it charges, along with a static electric field that can raise the hair of nearby sentients - combined this can alert enemies to a thrown ESP-11 and give them time to counter.
  • (-) Variable Effectiveness: the further someone is from the center of the blast, the less effective the grenade is - someone at the edge of the blast in armor may only experience paralyzing numbness, while someone at the center may be fully unconscious for nearly a day.

DESCRIPTION
The Tetron Electrostatic Pulse Grenade ESP-11 is a type of reusable combination heavy stun munition designed to be equally effective against droids and organics. Based on DC-15 technology, the ESP-11 makes use of highly ionized blaster gas that is tuned to stun rather than damage. The grenade itself holds a small reservoir of blaster gas, which is energized and then directed through beamsplitters as an omnidirectional electro-plasma pulse. This process is very similar in function to the older C-14A Stun Grenade in operation, and blends the power of an EMP grenade and Stun grenade into one neat package.

The omnidirectional electro-plasma blast is exceptionally powerful, comparable in strength to a HeadBanger, and sufficient to knock out affected electronics and neurologics for roughly twenty-four hours. Like a stun pistol or the an EMP grenade, the ESP-11 is capable of potentially overwhelming armor systems through the sheer amount of energy in the blast, especially by affecting the exposed bodysuits in the armor gap of organics, or the unshielded joints and servos of droids.

The ESP-11 does have several drawbacks; the first is a conspicuous electrical whine as it arms, followed by a static electric charge in the air near where it is thrown - combined this can give alert enemies enough time to leap out of the way, or, if they're brave, throw the grenade back. Proximity to the epicenter of the blast also impacts the effectiveness of the grenade; someone at the edge of the blast in armor may only experience paralyzing numbness, while someone at the center may be fully unconscious for nearly a day.
