Terrors [ CIS Dominion of Islyrr II Hex ]

Location: Orbit
Allies:[member="Darth Metus"]
Enemies: Karken

Aedan Miles had just opened a new bottle of scotch and was about to drink a deep drink straight from the bottle when the request from Metus came in. Blinking a few times he sealed the bottle and put it back in the fridge reaching farther back he withdrew a bottle of bourbon and looked at it than up at his fire control team before shrugging and opening it taking a deep swig absently before muttering. "Scotch is all wrong for orbital bombardments. WELL YOU HEARD THE REQUEST QUICK BEFORE HE CHANGES HIS MIND SHOOT ALL WEAPONS AT THAT LOCATION!... OH yeah try not to hit Metus that would be unfortunate for us people would be angry." Aedan took another deep drink as he watched the ship rotate and align itself fully with the target before all weapons fired various flashes of light and missile trails filling space before him as they streaked down at the planet. Opening a communications channel with Metus he started to speak his voice almost horrifyingly calm. "So just so you are aware Metus I haven't had a drop of booze in 3-5 days so I am not the most mentally stable. Now your fire mission has already been completed I just wanted you to know that you requested someone of questionable mental sanity to fire directly at your position..... I shall not be held responsible for this action." The last thing Metus and those listening heard would be an almost insane laugh from Aedan as he leaned back in his chair letting his laughter continue for awhile.

"Affirmative. Downloading piloting program now."

As the BX-22222 froze in midstride it's optics began to blink as it received the flash download so the BX would have the necessary knowledge to pilot the shuttle. Inside the shard known as Splinter sent a response to it's brethren.

Yes. I got the bad straw. Not only is this droid annoying but it's personality is abrasive and annoying. I wonder if it's too late to be put in a cleaning droid ...

Coming back online Duece saluted [member="BX-25233"] and moved to the ship. Climbing on board he began the pre-flight checklist while also scanning through approved apparel for BX commando droids. Closing the ramp he raised the ship into it's repulsors and cruised out of the hanger before powering up the engines and sending the shuttle toward the planet.

Inside Duece, Splinter began having waves of anxiety. His previous owner had crashed them several times, so anytime he was aboard a smaller vessel he experienced spikes of fear.

As the emotion flooded through the circuitry of Duece his programming was unable to decipher the sensations. Despite not understanding the sensory input Duece knew one thing. He liked the 'feeling'. Powering engines to full capacity he sent the shuttle into a roll as it entered the atmosphere, the ship shaking from the turbulence.

"UNABLE TO DECIPHER INPUT! UNABLE TO DECIPHER INPUT! WEEEEEEEEE!"

As the shuttle came close to the surface Duece peered down the engines and softly landed the shuttle. Inside Splinter was screaming.

Surnin could only nod in response to her inquiry. "Somewhat..." He says, keeping his rifle at the ready before he could only pick up the rumble from below. It was seldom he went up against something that wasn't a standard low life with a blaster, thus he was innately cautious and wholly unaware of what to expect in the context. Ideally, it was thieves and not some creature of megaladon proportions that had gored these miners. He kept a keen eye, looking to the path every few steps for tracks and footprints that hadn't been swept away from the transport vessel taking off.

"What do you think it might be?" He asked, the HRD knew most answers better than he could guess them. With that he hopped from his kneel back unto both two feet, his right hand still wrapped snug around the grip of the DC-17 slung over his shoulder under his characteristic maroon cloak he donned to brave the elements. Still his gaze, as placid as it was, was shielded with the crimson helmet and respirator.

"Well, at least there's an entrance now and whatever's inside wasn't touched." Jaya wasn't really interested in researching anything herself, she was merely here to map out old settlements and get paid for it. "I suggest a few people stay here to guard the way in. I'm going to have to pinpoint the coordinates of this place and document them so I'll be busy with that for a little while." Turning to Edric she already started shutting off the internal systems of her gauntlets so she could take them off. "I'll let you to your... whatever you want to do, I'll be here if you need me for anything."

The process of removing the gauntlets from her hands had become quite methodical to the woman. "Systems are shut down, now release the wrist grips..." Balling her hands into fists she went down to one knee to set the gauntlets down against the ground on its knuckles. A hiss came from them and as Jaya went to stand back up her hands escaped the contraptions, leaving them on the ground. Taking her backpack off her back she opened it while sitting down against the wall and took out a datapad, tapping in a code to unlock it.

A few taps later the device started scanning for coordinates and in the meantime Jaya reached for her backpack again, this time taking out a flask filled with water. She unscrewed the cap and set it down on the ground next to the datapad and took a hearthy swig, sighing contently after swallowing it. Now all the woman had to do was wait on the scan to be completed and for Edric to finish whatever he set out to do. To pass the time she had packed a pair of headphones and a music player and those two items were next to be taken out of the backpack. Putting the pair of headphones on she turned up the volume perhaps a bit too far, leaving the guards to 'enjoy' the music along with her.

As Mr. Strenger readied his weapon, Morgan slid from the vehicle, boots crunching on the volcanic rock, and for all intents and purposes appeared as though she were standing there, kind of gazing around in a nonchalant way. But what she was really doing was using her bespoke scanners to monitor the surrounding area, especially to make sure the rumble from below was not a toxic gas leak or the like.

In a few minutes neither of them needed a fancy software took in order to identify the source of the minor quake.

The aforementioned Akk'thot broke through the surface of Islyrr II’s crust, directly in the middle of the quarry, spraying dirt, rock and agricite in all directions. Pebbles and larger chunks of stone hurtled towards Morgan and Surnin, a giant hunk of granite crushing the ATR.
KymR0Byl.jpg

The blonde HRD sprinted towards one of the abandoned structures, glancing back to make sure Mr. Strenger was behind her. If this were a singular foe or even a gang of criminals hiding an illegal operation, Morgan would throw herself front of the mercenary to take blaster bolts until she could no longer stand. But neither of them alone or together would be a match for the noisy and hungry Akk'thot.

"But it annoys you. Why should I stop when it's so much fun?" Cairyn answered aloud with a shrug, the anger in Grace's voice faced with a twinge of annoyed stubbornness. He hadn't forgotten what had happened on Dathomir. He had every intention of inflicting the same pain Grace had dealt to his darling pets tenfold. For now, however, he had to maintain appearances.

Reaching the pod as Metus' orders were received, the boy groaned. "Do we have to?" he questioned, plopping into the pilot's chair, dangling the lollipop between his fingers. A moment later, he hit the ground. "What was that for?!"

Rashae was unaware of the shots that the Pirate King was sending out as it seemed to coincide with her sampler dart. It was painless to something this huge. As the thing bellowed it didn't dawn on her that there was danger as the seconds ticked by. It would take her a few seconds longer to come to the realization that hit Darth Metus and the others before hand.

“Oh don't be such a baby.” She would say to the creature.

That was before Metus's voice came forth with succinct and undeniable orders as the droid took over and started maneuvering as the sea floor rose. Rashae was knocked back, side to side and forward as the droid quickly moved. She wasn't sure what body part went past the front but the droid performed zigzag patterns as the Pod was quick and maneuverable. The scientist had little time to think as every split second something was going on.

It took her a minute or two before she garnished some kind of balance even if she was belted in. The doctor was disoriented with how the droid was piloting. The droid started firing even!! Fraking hell!! The doctor surprisingly did not scream and did not complain. Other than the token “Fraking Hell!!” and a few other choice words.

The one thing she did do was try and retract the cable to the dart. This action took quite a bit of time as the droid went upside down and quick movements. She wasn't built for this kind of thing. Support fire hse could see go through the heavy salinated water as she and her droid friend came across something as the light of the laser fire lit it up. The giant humongous eyeball. What was this thing? Rashae was both awed and frightened. When it simply crushed one of the Pods without any effort she started sweating. But then it seemed they were a mere spec compared to its size. That was it! The clever woman got an idea.

“Stay close to this thing just behind that eye. If we move to far away, we will be attacked.” She said to the droid. “It might not be able to see us if we are that close. It might be blind in such saline darkness or rely on distance vision. “

It was tricky to stay close enough to not be noticed but far enough away to make an escape when the chance came. “Get away from it when its turned. “ She wasn't sure what Darth Metus had in mind but she wasn't sure how much longer the droid could keep maneuvering like this. She wouldnt get out much more as Rashae was lost in a cloud of concentrated salinity and fired lasers from orbit. Even coms were staticy and offered no signs of life. This would drag on for several minutes as the droid would com in that his Pod was damaged and his passenger was alive but injured.

Rashae had some definite concussive impacts as she laid listless in the passenger seat. At least she had her samples. The droid did put a hand on her knee to shake the organic. She ugly bruise and patch of blood on the side of her head where she hit the side of the Pod was quite visible. The bruise starting to go from blue to a large blackish blue spot. The stubborn lass though that she was tried to regain consciousness as that little high maintenance woman was made of tougher stuff mentally than most.

"Frak!!" Everything was blurry as she tried to open her eyes. As they went over the ridge and the lights of her pod shined down it reflected off of something. If she was ordered back to the submersible she might be likely to ignore it. "what is that?" As she continued to shake off her state.

Grace studied the darkness ahead, silently seething. She'd rather be paired with a mindless droid than have to listen to Cairyn. He wanted her dead, and they both understood that. She would keep him alive until he was no longer useful, and then he would die. Simple as that. She simply had to watch and make sure he couldn't kill her first.

He seemed to have a knack for animals, which made him more dangerous than his physical form. He would have to be separated from his pets first. Either that, or said pets would have to be dealt with. Maybe poison their food? Something to consider. Maybe they could be made to attack their master? The idea of Cairyn being torn apart by the creatures he loved most brought a twisted joy to her brain, for the brief second before the alarms went off.

The last pod was gone in an instant, the flash giving away something of their foe. But she couldn't feel it. Couldn't sense it. Metus' order screamed through the comms, but Cairyn made it to the controls before she did. She was getting sloppy. She'd need to work on that. He sat there for a brief moment, choosing to question if they had to. Without a thought, she shoved the kid to the ground, clicking the radio on as she strapped herself into the chair. "Copy that." while she may not have been trained for this, she at least knew what she was doing. As the Minister's pod ducked and weaved, Finally settling in some sort of holding pattern in what had to be a blind spot, she frowned. That couldn't be safe for very long. She needed to get them out of there.

The Sith squeezed the trigger guiding the torpedos in the Force, and she swore the thing screamed, the bloodcurdling sound almost satisfying. "Minister, respond. Get out of there. We'll cover you!" With that, she dove deeper, Aiming to hold the thing's attention long enough.

Terror of the Seas - VII

This was bad.

The monstrosity laying waste to their operation...it could bleed. Yes, that much was evident by the amount of fire it had taken thus far. Between the initial blast from above and the warheads fired by the Pods, it was evident that pain was a reality. But it did not stop. Furious shrieks ripped forth from its form, roaring over the comms and setting the Sith Lord's ears ringing. All the while, he held on for dear life as his droid subordinate maneuvered about the murky sea. It narrowly avoided one of the beast's mammoth claws, inverting itself into a wicked turn to evade damage. However, the move had sent the Sith hurtling every which way - banging his head against the wall.

The world went spinning.

"Chit..." he managed to croak out.

Between the thumping in his skull and the panic over the comms, he did not hear that salvation was on its way. It was messy. It was getting drunk. It was the requested salvo from the Pirate King above. Obviously, it took several moments for the cannons to ready and lock. Yet, once they had set into place, the black seas were set ablaze by a fresh salvo of weapon's fire. It was the furthest thing from precise. Numerous blasts simply crashed into the ocean floor, kicking up additional sands and muck that lessened overall visibility. Others blasted into the Destroyer's extremities, testing the limits of its shield units. However. A solid number viciously pounded down upon the beast's back.

SSHHRRREEEEEEEEEEEEE!

The vicious sound tore from the beast as it was beset by orbital fire. Its movements became frantic - blind swipes were made against the foe striking from above. But to no avail. It could not see past the murky dust kicked up by the assault. It could not stop the assault. It could only flail as the Pirate King added yet another notch to his belt. And then...Silence. The wail ended abruptly. The frantic flails...the vicious assaults...even the wrath from the Pirate King came to a sudden conclusion. At that time, Darth Metus forced himself upright and blinked away the blur in his visison. He squinted against the darkness...but could make nothing out in his current state.

Yet those above would see the terrifying sight.

Just as a goldfish floated to the top of the bowl, so too did the creature rise from the seas. With an exceptional Hiss, its remains began to bob upon the surface of the waters. They had survived the worst the seas had to throw at them. But what next?

"What's our status?" Metus groaned, eyeing the Droid.

"We are down one Pod. The Minister is confirmed to be in a similar state as you. The Destroyer sustained damage, but is still seaworthy."

"Recall the Team...Send group two to investigate what's left. We need answers."

"Roger Roger." came the Commando's response. Immediately following, the pod piloted by [member="Cairyn Midore"] and [member="Lady Psyona"], in addition to the pod bearing the injured [member="Rashae"], would receive word to regroup aboard the Destroyer. [member="Yuna Hart"] would also be informed to have medical teams on standby and to release the secondary Pod team. As for [member="Aedan Miles"], a poorly worded message would arrive on his Datapad from Metus himself: Whiky on M3.

In the aftermath of the Terror of the Seas, the secondary team made an astounding discovery...One that shed a little light on the whole situation. They uncovered something unmistakable amidst the scattered sands: Eggs. Each the size of a Pod. Apparently, the dive team had endangered a mother's territory and their attack was a natural response. The budding hypothesis was that the creature was indeed a Sithspawn, several generations removed from the intial colonization attempt. The extreme Acidity of the waters, coupled with this fact, let many to believe that the Sith facility was experimental in nature. How to prevent infiltration if Metus had to guess. In any case, further investigations would have to take place over the next few days; with additional support for the Minister's sample gathering. But now?

Now they had some eggs to hatch.

As soon as she got to the abandoned mining facility, Morgan began searching for a way to enable the communication console in order to contact a nearby CIS vessels, essentially calling in a strike to hit the giant worm. She unzipped the back of her armor and plugged a wire from the console to the port entry situated at the base of her spine, transferring some of her electrical energy to the non-functioning computers energy in order to transmit the signal.

“This is Morgan Redeaux of Operation Agrocite. I need immediate backup from the one of HMC Light Shipping Cruiser. The one with the mining walker on it. There is an unidentified species of Akk'thot that appears to be about 100 meters tall from mouth to tail.”

She peeked out a broken window and saw the giant volcanic worm spit out what appeared to be toxic venom towards Mr. Strenger. “I think this is what was destroying men, droids and everything else in its path.”

As soon as the mercenary was out of the worm’s range, Morgan watched as the Cruiser swooped in to torpedo the terrifying behemoth.

As soon as the monstrous beast rose to meet the two, the eyes under his mask would widen as he rose, nearly stumbling in his steps as he backed toward Morgan, cracking off several bursts of the DC-17 toward the beast as it sent forward a volley of acid spit in their direction the words would be stolen from his mouth as soon as she said them. They needed air support and quickly. The blue lasers slapped against the carapace of the beast with well aimed, albeit panicked shots from the Balmorran as he regrouped with Morgan, dropping the depleted magazine and reloading the rifle he would peer out the same window, glancing to her once the cruiser delivered its payload on the worm.

As soon as it did he would let out an audible sigh before speaking aloud. "Was that enough to do it you think?" He inquired, a payload like that would dissipate most any problem in any conventional circumstance but behemoth worms didn't align under that category. Soon after the airstrike he seemed to simmer down back to his cold and collected stance, aiming the blaster rifle from the window toward the direction of the worm.

The scientist in Rashae saw the outline of the eggs in the murky saline as it reflected the light from the pod. The woman demanded for the pod to be taken down further despite the Pod's damaged state. It was alright for now but leaking a little. They were ordered to return to the Destroyer as it was fairly certain that the bio scanners on her told on her. Rashae argued with the droid about going back but the droid followed Darth Metus orders not The Doctors. She made strangling noises despite her injuries as she worked to retract her sampler dart.

When she opened the compartment to take out the large oval like bullet to her eyes she finally smiled. Yeah yeah she had water samples, rock samples and other samples but this was the true prize. Yes she wanted to study the eggs but the goop in the sampler bullet that contained that sickly grey with blood mingled with it was not a bad consolation prize.

It was like her argument stopped mid stream as she held it in front of her face with that cheshire cat like smile as it was secured in one of the many pockets of her armor. Yes she was hurt, but she got her sample. Once she returned to the Destroyer she tried to exit on her own to find her world spinning and just about hit the steel floor of the decking before she was caught.

Usually she didn't let anyone touch her but her own staff. The doctor argued vehemently with Yuna's staff as they tried to treat her. Giving specific instructions on what she should be given and what she shouldn't. It was not anything against Yuna or her staff. The Doctor had trust issues. Rashae was a horrible patient actually. It stemmed from hidden circumstances when she disappeared for a couple of years. That was if anyone wanted to look at her record. Otherwise she was just one of those high strung, high maintenance types that was not having it but her way.

But she had her sample!! Wait till she got this in her lab. With the Progenitor sample, things could get very interesting in the future.

"I think so," Morgan responded, peering out of the dilapidated building with electro-binoculars. The giant volcanic worm lay in a heap of blood, innards and charred flesh, and though the droid could not smell anything, the wisps of steam coming off of the corpse indicated the odor would likely rival the rest of the sulfuric and noxious hazards on the planet.

"You didn't get hit with any of the venom, did you? If so, there are mining suits in one of those." She thumbed to a row of tall lockers, some hanging open and some closed, the open containers holding personal possessions of some of the miners who'd been lost.

The blonde HRD smiled at Mr. Surnin as she watched the CIS Shipping Transport land. It spit out a variety of science droids to scan the area and make sure the Akk'thot was an anomaly and was not a nest or a hive of some sort, labor droids to clean up the grotesque carnage and a giant mining walker to begin the strenous process to clear away debris in order to prepare the mine to become operable again.

"While we solved a great mystery on Islyrr, I feel you might be a little over-qualified for mining duty, Mr. Strenger," Morgan said with a half-smile. "Would you agree?" He wasn't much of a talker, but the HRD always tried to pry a few sentiments out of the taciturn mercenary.

Raising the shuttle back into the air Duece looked out the viewport as the ability to see was near non existent. Anxiety spiked in Splinter again but before Duece could send the ship careening across the skies the communications lit up aboard the ship controls.

Listening to the orders coming in and receiving a short but of telemetry, The BX unit pulled up the terrain scans of the planet, dropping the layover map upon it revealing the pickup sites for the exploration teams.

With the smooth motions of either muscle memory or programmed ability, Duece began heading to the extraction points picking up the small units assigned for exploration. Making four stops to pick up the exploration teams Duece angle the transport shuttle to the last position on his map.

Cruising in on repulsors the droid looked upon the carcass of the great work with interest before setting down on extended landing gear. The ramp lowered for [member="Morgan Redeaux"] and [member="Surnin Strenger"] waiting several minutes for them to board before rising above the planet's surface and heading to the destroyer in space where all the research and logistical information gathered would be gone over.

He sighed as she mentioned there being an entrance now, his hand dragging along the inner portion of the wall that now was gone. It would be nice for him to get a look at the inside of these walls but it was still a bit sad and he would not easily forget that fact. With a grin though he straightened up and and grabbed from his pocket a small device that he activated and talked to.

"Ok Adam, take a record of the area, I'm going to move on. Follow me when you have finished up with this area or if I signal for you." The small drone simply beeped in confirmation, letting the VI in control get to work while Edric moved after Jaya with datapad in hand.

If she looked on at him she would see him quickly recording notes on the datapad, almost forgetting there was another person here and staring at otherwise insignificant things such as the buildings, roads, and other things. A few times he stopped to look at and inspect ancient speeders and swoopbikes, things that were out of a museum or antiques from thousands of years in the past.

Almost without thinking he moved on past the range of the guards or Jaya's view, entering a house with interest and staring around. This place was interesting to him and he started to poke around inside of it, moving clothing and items around and recording anything he found interesting. His hand lingered though as he took in hand a holoframe, staring at the image captured in it. He stared and sighed before putting it down with such care that it looked as if he thought it might crumble in his hand.

What he wondered about as he stood there now was where the people were. There was no skeletons, no dead, no signs of anything that would suggest such. They didn't have a great deal of time as it was and he tapped on his side as he wanted to see for himself what was out there. What had been so efficient in wiping out these colonies and he smiled as the old him started to surface, the one who had fought in pits and gotten used to the unknown danger he was facing.

The hand that had been tapping on his side did so with a quickness now that could only be mistaken for excitement. What was it that had claimed these colonists.

"What was that for?!" Cairyn demanded, glaring up at Chase. He tried so hard to be civil, to be not a complete brat to her. Well, actually, no, he didn't try to do that at all. Quite the opposite, actually. Still, that hardly warranted her pushing him around like this. He didn't bother standing up from the ground, going on with his little rant. "Geez, you always gotta be so pushy. Why don't'cha take it easy for once?"

"We didn't have time for your games." The words were curt as Grace guided the craft through the waters. The aerial strike had killed the creature, and now it was as simple as returning from the depths. Had the old Sith created it? Was it the mutated form of some leviathan, brought here for reasons unknown? Or was there simply creatures like that down here? She didn't really want to know. Part of her still feared these abyssal depths where such things could live.

Finally, she turned to the kid. "Your childish act nearly got us both killed. I decided to do something before that happened." She turned the craft to follow the others in. "If you don't agree, I'm sure the creature down there would love to play with your corpse."

The firing came to a halt. The eerie silence grew to irritate Cady. Then, there was a sudden alarm going off. "What is that?" Cady asked. "They're boarding us m'lady. We must get you to safe-" Cady quickly cut off the pirate with the force grabbing at his throat. "You'll do no such thing. I'll handle this myself.." Cady let the poor pirate go and left the bridge. She removed her lightwhip hilt from beneath her cloak and, holding the emitter away from her, pressed the stud and unleashed the lightwhip. Suddenly, the lights turned off. Only the flashing red alarm illuminated the hallway. The attackers boarded the ship and began to fan out in search of Cady. They kept up comms the entire time they were split up. But, one by one, each of the attackers went silent until only the leader was left. He was a bit of a hefty man. Not really fit to fight. But he was angry. Angry that Cady had drank his son dry and left his carcass to wither away. In an instant, the man's head was removed from his body as Cady twirled her whip around his neck, decapitating him immediately. The smell of scorched flesh and blood filled the air above the body where Cady stood over it, looking down in disgust at the body of the man who led the attack on her ship.

The lights re-illuminated once more. "Lady L'kai. Sensors read that the ship is clear of hostiles. Should we continue to Islyrr II?" a man said over the comms. "No. We'll have to pull back. We're need of repairs..." Cady looked down at the body before finishing her sentence, "...and a clean up crew."

"We never have time, now do we?" Cairyn hissed, head cocking to the side. "Shut up, Cairyn. You're an idiot, Cairyn." His head moved from one side to the other as he went on, completely oblivious to the mess Grace navigated in. "Oh, yes, thank you so much for saving us. Geez, what would the galaxy do without you, Chase? I'm sure so many people would care if we both died here." He sneered, leaning back to lounge from where he sat, making himself home on the floor. "I'm sure the creatures and I would have a great time! You on the other hand, you probably couldn't keep them entertained."

[member="Lady Psyona"]

"You're right." Lady Psyona gave a small smile, the normal annoyed tone gone from her voice. "No one would miss either of us. Your pets would starve, and I'm sure my fellow Sith would not mind one more rival lost to the depths below." Her voice had changed slightly as she spoke, guiding the ship to its docking port. "But none of that matters in the long run."

She stood as the pod docked with the ship. "But we had a mission to keep the minister alive. I may not value your life, Cairyn, and my death may mean nothing to the galaxy." Golden eyes glared at him, seething with rage. It took all her effort to not tear him limb from limb here and now. "But the Minister holds power your psycotic mind couldn't even imagine. And we were told to cover her. Until you learn your place, you will fail. And if you approach me again, I will be sure to put you down." With that, she turned, walking back onto the submersible. Hopefully that would give her some time away from him for once. Maybe she'd take a shower. Or find someplace to curl up and listen to that audiobook on Darth Nox she'd picked up so long ago. Or maybe both. She hadn't decided. Either way, she would be glad to be done with the antediluvian depths.
