ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Advanced Targeting Systems
- Long-Range Communication Array
- Tractor Beam
- Advanced Targeting Systems: Allowed for pinpoint accuracy of its various laser cannons to fight off fast moving starfighters
- Internal Bridge: The bridge was not exposed and was protected by layers of armor and shielding
- Limited Anti-Capital Ordinance: While the Tarrik did have two turbolasers, its main role was that of a powerful anti-starfighter ship and it would lose fights against more anti-capital focused ships
- Exposed Engines: While the Tarrik-class was brimming with point defense lasers, its four massive engines created a blind spot where the cannons couldn't fire and thus left the engines open as well.
At a length of 300 meters, the Terrik was built in an unconventional frame that some attributed to the ship's Quarth design. The sleek and angular frame was propelled by four massive and powerful ion engines that provided the necessary acceleration to chase down pirates and heavily modified freighters. The light cruiser held room enough for 200 passengers in its advanced barrack facilities, usually reserved contingents of marines for use in boarding actions or troop transport. The lower deck of the light cruiser also held state of the art brig facilities able to hold dozens of prisoners. Equipped with two turbolaser batteries, ion cannons, and an array of laser cannons the Terrik was a patrol ship, designed to work alone patrolling spacelanes and even better in groups or fleets.
The Terrik was also surprisingly resilient, though its shields were often stretched to breaking point when faced with anti-ship ordinance, like proton torpedoes or capital grade turbolasers. While the ship did not have a hangar, it did have one internal docking clamp in a ventral storage bay. Here its impressive tractor beams could capture smaller smuggler vessels and ready them for boarding and was useful for customs work as well.
Newly inducted into the small, budding nation, the Corellian Defense Force Modernization Project was met with the ire of many in the New Republic senate. Corellia was beginning to be seen as expansionist and aggressive with its new line of ships and quick militirization after the removal of the Sith Empire from its boarders. However, the success of the Terrik-class and the Corellian designed Colony-class Battlecruisers were seen as resources that could not be wasted. A slight design shift in the Terrik at the behest of the New Republic saw it replace the dated Myrmidon-class Frigate as the carry on ship of the repaired Colony-class Battlecruisers, shifting several of these ships into use by the New Republic as well as the Corellian Defense Force. A few of the vessels also found their way into the hands of the Alliance in Exile.
