ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Offense
Defense
Utility
Strengths:

 • Awesome offensive power, some of the best in class. Even the toughest defenses wither before its might.

 • Most of its emplacements are evenly spaced, giving it good coverage at all angles.

 • Defensive capabilities are greatly enhanced whilst its overshield is active.

 • HiMS enabled hyperdrive.
Weaknesses:

 • While the Tenchu Kai have decent speed for a ship its size, smaller faster ships will still have a fairly easy time outrunning or outmaneuvering it.

 • As many emplacements are evenly placed, it can’t focus them all into one zone like a typical dagger design.

 • Whilst the overshield is active, the Tenchu take a significant hit to mobility.

 • No dedicated starfighter complement.

 • As the Ion Ripper batteries are spinal mounted, any off-bore shots over 15 degrees require the whole ship to be turned for aiming.

 • The spinal mounted guns are hard to use at close range against smaller and faster targets that can easily outmaneuver the Tenchu.
Description:

The Tenchu-Kai are upgraded versions of the original Tenchu dreadnought, refit to better contend against the Silver Jedi’s current adversaries in frontline combat. The battlecruisers were reconfigured to increase offensive capabilities and mobility, at the expense of their heavy reactive armor and hangar space dedicated for starfighters. This was deemed an acceptable tradeoff, as experience had shown that the extreme defensive capabilities of the Tenchu were rarely required, greater firepower being more useful in most instances. Some of the more advanced sensors of the original Tenchu, like a crystal grav trap, were also sacrificed in order to cheapen future productions, making it more dependent on dedicated ELINT craft for early warning.

However, taking lessons from the Akula heavy destroyer and its ability to strengthen its own armor for greater defense, designers applied a similar setup to the Tenchu for the times it may require such extreme defenses in a pinch. It was given an overshield which could siphon power from its engines to activate a powerful tertiary shield that could withstand extended punishment from multiple attackers, or single powerful strikes like those from proton beam cannons.

As part of beefing up its destructive output, new emplacements weren't just simply added on top of preexisting platforms, but the whole setup was updated to optimize long range fire power and shield busting abilities with the inclusion of armaments like Incinerator Railguns and Scythe Homing Lasers.

The biggest change came to its primary armament, its single spinal-mounted hypervelocity cannon and proton beams cannons replaced by a quartet of smaller rapid fire repulsor-based ion ripper batteries. Mechanically speaking, it is identical in operation to the ion rippers featured on the RAF-02 Y-wing, using tight beams of anti-gravity beams to accelerate projectiles towards its target. Inspired by the Vespa Autoripper and Trident Autocannons, steady accurate bursts of smaller rounds are focused at specific points to simulate the effects of tandem charges to overload shielding at the targeted area(s) for direct hits against the enemy vessel itself. To aid in shield penetration, each round is enveloped in a jacket of ion energy. Moving to the burst fire strategy, the Tenchu’s main guns now see better performance against well defended ships sporting multi-layered shielding and heavy armor, especially when used in tandem with its other extreme emplacements. While spinal mounted, the Ion Ripper batteries can be shot off bore by up to 15 degrees, but for anything more extreme the whole vessel must be pointed in general direction of the intended target.

With the refit, the Tenchu has once again taken is place as a premiere battlecruiser, capable of eviscerating all before its path.

Looks like you forgot to add in the Ion Rippers under the armament lists. I'm also normally used to Solar Ionization Cannons being a starfighter weapon, but a heavy long-range variant as an Extreme emplacement works for me. Also I'd like clarification that the Ion Rippers don't inherently penetrate Particle Shields, though they would undoubtedly be very effective at bringing them down.

The spinal mounted ion rippers mentioned in this sub are specific to the Tenchu Kai, but I linked all relevant references in the canon link section where I've done a similar thing with other vehicles like my Y-wing. I expanded a bit on their operation, and added some weakness specific to the ion rippers.

Unlike the canon rippers, these cannot bypass shielding. However, they are good at over-stressing shielding and armor in specific points by means of rapid burst fire in tight groupings. Some real world example would be the G-11 and AN-94 assault rifles.

HIMS are an advanced system, please relocate it to that field.

You have this listed in both standard features and advanced systems. The link for the one in the standard features leads to the Sensor category for wookieepedia, I would suggest simply removing this from there.

All of your ratings put you right above the limit of what would be balanced based on just ratings and production alone. A 0.5 HIMS hyperdrive puts you well over that and the weaknesses you've included do not make up for that. You can either drop production to Semi-Unique, or you can put the hyperdrive at 1 (or remove the HIMS).
