Private Temporary Stop

Location: Scarif

Though confined to the spaceport, a quiet sense of wonder stirred in Corvin's heart. He had spent time aboard his late father’s smuggling ship, but this was different—being on his own, standing on some distant world, felt new and strangely freeing.

As he waited for the arrival and eventual departure of the transport bound for the NJO’s new base, Corvin passed the time by observing, or rather sensing, the flow of travelers around him. His Force Sight allowed him to sense the varied presences and energies of those moving through the busy port. Idly, he broke off small pieces of a bread-like substance, offering them to the icy-blue Convor perched on his shoulder.

"The diversity of those passing through here is... rather intriguing," he remarked softly to his feathered companion, his tone thoughtful as he continued to take in the swirling tapestry of life around him.

Darth Reign had made the voyage to Scarif aboard his personal transport. He had been enthralled with the planet ever since the Death Star plans had been stolen from the Imperial base located on the planet. There were many lessons to be learned from this place, chief among them, in Reign's eyes was to never underestimate your opponent. The Diarchy themselves being a proverbial "underdog" on the galactic stage.

His pilot had landed his shuttle at the designated landing spot, while Reign preferred to pilot himself, he wanted to meditate on the lessons of the planet, preferring to focus his energy inward on this trip. As he walked down the ramp, his black robes flowing, the slight golden accents and Sith symbols within the stitching seeming to shimmer in the light, the Dark Lord expanded his senses outward, looking for any hint of danger.

As always in a spaceport, the mass of life and action was overwhelming to the sense, but Reign was no novice, the Sith Lord looked solely for presences strong in the force, Light or Dark, as the Diarchy had made enemies of both the Jedi and the Sith. That was when he felt it, unsure of the exact location in the tumultuous mass, but there was a Jedi here, a padawan by the feel of it.

Smiling, the Dark Lord thought to himself
wonderful, coming so freshly off the interaction with young Roman Vossari Roman Vossari this will be interesting"

As Corvin mused over the constant flow of ships arriving and departing, he suddenly froze, his Force Sight picking up something unusual—a hazy, fog-like distortion at the edge of his perception. It was subtle but unmistakable, a ripple in the fabric of the Force, tainted by the dark side.

Instinctively, his guard went up. His mind raced as he scanned the area, frantically trying to pinpoint the source of the disturbance. Though he had never encountered such a potent presence of darkness before, the sheer weight of it left a lasting impression—one he would not soon forget.

Slowly rising from where he sat, Corvin moved toward a vantage point, trying to gain a clearer view of the spaceport while maintaining a distance from the crowd. He was cautious, keeping himself out of reach of the unsuspecting travelers, in case one of them was the source of this sickening presence. His senses remained sharp, ready for whatever lay ahead.

Reign couldn’t help but chuckle. All these Jedi were the same, a hint of the dark comes near and they fly.

The Dark Lord attempted to hone in on the Padawan. Thinking he caught a brief glimpse of an Ice Blue Convor. Again, he could draw the Jedi out by causing chaos, but that’s not what the Sith was here for.

Reign figured he would play a game with the padawan. Focusing outward he broadcast his power outward, attempting to flood the young one with the overwhelming power of the Dark Side.

Corvin felt the creeping presence of darkness at the edge of his Force Sight, like staring into a vast and foreboding ocean. There was an almost primal instinct to flee, to distance himself from whatever malevolent force lingered there. But running would be a poor start to his career as a Padawan, not to mention it would betray the lessons ingrained in him since childhood.

His Force Sight scanned the room again, narrowing in on the person he suspected was the source of the disturbance. Yet something about them seemed... off, though he couldn't quite place what it was. Driven by a need for answers, he decided to move closer, hoping to get a clearer sense of what he was dealing with.

"I'll be careful, Glacia," Corvin muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible. His Convor companion, perched on his shoulder, let out a soft chirp of defiance, clearly displeased by his choice to investigate further.

Now this was new. The Jedi was coming closer, Must be curious, as opposed to afraid. That’s refreshing Reign thought.

Moving towards the padawan, Reign was curious himself about what apprentice would actively move towards a Sith Lord.

He caught a glimpse of white hair, moving in his direction. Shifting his approach, he went straight for the Padawan. Thinking that he would like to meet this brave young person.

As Corvin cautiously approached the source of the dark presence, he steeled himself, keeping his guard up in case things took a turn for the worse. He knew full well that, against a skilled Sith, his chances of survival were slim, but he was determined to put up a fight—or at least leave a lasting impression.

His Force Sight picked up the figure ahead, their menacing aura unmistakable. Judging by their attire and the overwhelming sense of darkness they emitted, it was clear they were a Sith. Corvin maintained a safe distance, just far enough to avoid immediate detection but close enough to observe their movements. If he was noticed, that gap might buy him enough time to formulate a plan, however hastily.

"Are Sith common out here?" he murmured quietly, more to himself than anyone else, as he watched the figure intently.

Reign had caught a glimpse of the padawan, but lost him in the crowd. Realizing he was relying to heavily on his vision, he cleared his mind. Searching through the force. He could feel the youths vision on him, but the tumult of people caused him to struggle locking in.

Suddenly, as if a tether had been drawn his eyes snapped open, gazing upon a young man with his eyes covered. His target identified, the Dark Lord strode forward. Intending to meet this curious child. Attempting to pierce his mind Reign said telepathically
“you are a brave one. Come to me young Jedi”

A sudden, sharp pain reverberated through Corvin's mind, almost like a headache, as the presence of the Sith Lord pressed into his thoughts. The strange and unsettling sensation of hearing a voice within his own head left him feeling violated—an unwelcome intrusion into his mental space. But Corvin reminded himself that such invasions were typical of the Sith. Shaking off the discomfort, he held his ground, deliberately choosing not to move. It was his subtle way of inviting the Sith to come to him, a quiet act of defiance that brought a trace of amusement to his otherwise focused expression.

As the Sith drew closer, Corvin waited for the right moment. When they were within earshot, he finally spoke, his tone calm but laced with an edge of challenge. "Enjoying Scarif, Sith?"

When Reign had entered earshot, the padawan had just outright spoken to him. Smiling at the young man, ignoring the light challenge he said “There is much history here Padawanputting extra emphasis on the young man’s rank.

Moving closer, he continued
“what brings you here my young friend?” he was impressed by the bravery the learner had shown, and was interested in knowing more.

Corvin couldn’t deny that the Sith's casual dismissal of his challenge bothered him, but he maintained his calm demeanor. It was a skill he'd honed over the years, keeping his emotions in check, even when irritation threatened to bubble up. As the Sith spoke, Corvin had to admit to himself that the man was right—this planet held a long and rich history, stretching far beyond his own time. And yet, Corvin was certain that new history would be written during his.

His focus remained on the Sith as he replied evenly, "Just taking in the sights while I wait for the next shuttle." His tone was calm, almost conversational, though his eyes never left the figure before him.

The Dark Lord studied the young man in front of him. The conversational tone he was taking threw the Sith off somewhat, as well as the distinct lack of fear. Regardless, the Sith was not here for a fight, just to take in the history of the area.

Affecting a friendly tone he said
"What sites they are, but I feel for all it's history, Scarif has become just that.. a place to wait for the next shuttle. Such is the fate of places of history." Reign put his hands behind his back, thinking quietly. The learner had a unique presence in the force.

"I couldn't help but notice your convor, tell me, my young friend, how does one come to be in such illustrious company?"

Corvin paused briefly, mulling over the other man's words. It struck him how so many worlds once scarred by conflict had faded into mere stories told to children— a sign of how swiftly the galaxy moved on from its darkest times. "It sounds like even the sands of time can wash away the deepest history," he mused quietly.

He glanced at the man before turning to his avian companion, Glacia, who tilted her head in response. "She was a gift from my mother, given to me not long after my father disappeared. We've been inseparable for the past eight years."

Reign studied the bird, she was truly a sight, and the anecdote about the boy's father had piqued the Sith's interest.

"That is the sad truth, even the great places of history are little more than footnotes in the books now. It is up to us to keep that history alive" The young man's pensive nature reminded Reign of his oldest daughter, an interesting parallel that he would have to bring up to her when he got back.

"She is a beautiful creature, I couldn't help but notice, your father disappeared? My own parents are gone, I can relate. What happened?"
