Strengths

Compassionate: Unlike her mother who became jaded by decades of failure and suffering, Tella holds a deep compassion for others. She cares about the trials and tribulations others face, and wants to help those she comes across. This may even translate into acts of self-sacrifice at times.

Curious: Being relatively young and inexperienced in the ways of the Galaxy, she is curious and is driven to explore and find out new things and expand her knowledge.

Enthusiasm: Tella seems eager to always try something new, and tends to even mundane tasks with fastidiousness, and rarely finds herself turning down a job or an opportunity out of pride or thinking it not worth her time.

Weaknesses

Indignation: Sometimes, being compassionate can lead to much darker places. The galaxy is a cruel and often heartless place, and such empathy can quickly turn towards anger against others or situations which cause others to suffer. This anger may often take a long time to fade, and lead her to take actions that if left unchecked could lead to flirting with the Dark Side.

Unhealthy Obssession: If not carefully managed with reason, a keen interest in something can easily turn into an obsession. She can sometimes become obsessed with a particular objective or person, much to the detriment of herself and others

Recklessness: Of course, enthusiasm can quickly turn into recklessness if not tempered by caution, something Aculia has tried to instill in her daughter but not fully succeeded in doing so. She may find out to her sorrow as she explores the galaxy. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is her motto, and this may leave her in dangerous situations or at the mercy of more calculating individuals.

APPEARANCE

She in many ways looks like a much younger version of her “mother”, with the same striking blue eyes, pale skin and silver hair, although she likes to wear it longer than her forebear. She is a little bit above average height for a woman, and of decent musculature honed through exercise and training with Aculia, making her not quite as thin as a Holonet model, but far from heavy. She echoes her mother’s style preferring to wear white, black, and gold, but insteads wears a more modest hakama, robes, and cloak, occasionally with armor or a bodysuit as the need arises. She may also sport a variety of belts and hair accessories that she may put on from time to time.

BIOGRAPHY

The details of Tella’s birth are a mystery, even to her, as her mother refuses to answer any potential questions about her father and despite her best attempts to probe her mother with her burgeoning abilities in the Force, has come up empty. She bears a striking and uncanny resemblance to her as well, almost as if the two were made from exactly the same cloth. All she has managed to find out from the rare few times she was able to rummage through her mother’s things, however, was that large sums of money were moved around the time of her birth through various shady and now defunct Outer Rim and Wild Space corporations once her mercenary group eventually fell apart in the later years of the Great Galactic Disturbance.

What she does remember clearly is her modest upbringing on a hidden asteroid base somewhere in the far and unruly expanse of Wild Space, tasked with following a rigid training schedule by her mother and enforced by a wide variety of droid companions and the occasional sentient mentor or acquaintance once her mother discovered she had been gifted with the Force. Her mother was often gone what she framed as business, but in the times when she was around, was loving, protective, and strict at the same time. Being an empathetic child, she could tell her mother seemed to be trying to protect her from something, although whether it was a specific threat or the trials and tribulations of the galaxy at large, she never quite managed to figure out.

Her instructions in the ways of the Force loosely mirrored that of the Jedi more than that of the Sith, of whom a few holocrons her mother “acquired” for her, but with more of an emphasis of thinking for herself rather than a strict obedience to their code, which her mother said most of the current Order took more as a guideline rather than scripture to begin with. Very careful exposure to a limited selection of Sith teachings, mostly about not letting the Force dictate one’s destiny rather than oneself and the more technical oriented aspects of darker applications of general powers were also included, her mother having long ago rejected the more “spiritual” notions of the Force for a more pragmatic view that is was the wielder who ultimately determined what they did with their powers. Tella, being perceptive, sensed there was more to her mother’s belief than what she told her, and curiously enough any of her own forays into using the more devastating and painful applications of her power was carefully monitored-and disciplined against if found to be used more than necessary.

One such incident was when her favorite pet, a white durni named Snuggles, was deliberately endangered by her mother, who brought a natural predator, a gurrcat, to hunt him. She was forbidden to use any more peaceful techniques to save him, and soon Snuggles was cornered. Desperate, she reached out trying to scare it away with a small burst, really, sparks, of Force Lightning, but to her horror, the Force would not respond to her. Pleading at her mother, who looked at her with a stone cold expression, she was told that she had to really mean it in order for the technique to work. Snuggles took a rather savage bite to his left leg, bleeding and bleeting in pain, and Tella in a rage over her inability to protect him, a desire to save him, and frustration that her mother put her into this situation, soon found those sparks turned into something far more deadly, striking the gurrcat who howled in pain and crumpled to the ground, writhing in the lightning. She found herself wanting to cause him even more pain, to make him suffer for what he did, to prove she was stronger than her mother thought- and was then thrown harshly by a Force Push against the walls by Aculia, so much so that she was knocked out. When she woke up, both Snuggles and the gurrcat were alive and tended to, but her mother began the first in a long series of harsh lessons about using the Force only in service of her goals-and not to relish in the strength or power it gave her over others for the sake of it or to save her from her own insecurities.

Her training continued, until eventually, on her 23rd birthday, her mother, now beginning to look her years with wrinkles and silver hair that no longer gleamed with youth, judged that she had achieved the skills on the level of a Jedi Knight were she in the New Jedi Order. After a long party, in which an unusual amount of her mother’s friends were in attendance and for which she was allowed to drink alcohol for the first time in front of her proud, yet oddly sad mother, she drifted into a peaceful, and what seemed a particularly heavy sleep…

Only to wake up, alone, in an unfamiliar, barren room, with only a single set of her robes, her two blue lightsabers, and a datapad carefully laid down next to her. Immediately flicking on the datapad, she found a letter from her mother, who told her how proud she was of the woman she had became, but that what she needed now was something that her mother could not provide her: real experience in the wider galaxy, away from her mother’s embrace, sheltering, and protection. Aculia implored her to remain true to her self, as she was, as her mother put it “a better version of her, someone who could be what she should have been, had her life been kinder to her” and to use the lessons she had taught her wisely.

Fighting back the tears which had already begun to flow down her face she continued reading, her mother telling her she had left her in a secure warehouse she had rented through the day on level 3126 of Coruscant, and told her that her fate was up to her, but she suggested gaining experience on the Galactic Capital starting from those who were the poorest and working her way up to the top levels, so she could see how galactic society really operated, and to not look for her, because she would not be found again until Tella learned all that she needed to know.

After taking some time to center herself from the headache that came from the swirling emotions of abandonment, fear, excitement, and the sheer amount of beings she felt around her in the Force, seemingly an infinite amount compared to her former home, she carefully opened the door to the outside world…and her new life with nothing but her blades, her training, and her clothes.

Redid a little bit of my dice system to make Paddies/Knights/Masters and their other equivalents more balanced. Tella's LS defense skills got nerfed as a result downgrading her from proficient at Soresu to beginner.
