[Techno Empire] Allies hidden in the sand?

Yutan, Galactic Senate building. After this trip to Zeltros, where the Magnificent Seven hit the casinos dead center as many runs as they got, playing blackjack, a rather primitive casino game still played on Zeltros, Klesta's personal aide, Tiffany, urged him to open negotiations on behalf of the Galactic Republic, finding that the Techno Empire stood against the Mandalorian barbarism as well as against the tyranny of the Sith, despite being so far away from either a Sith faction or a Mandalorian faction. Tiffany proved to be a far better blackjack player than Klesta; as a diplomat-in-training, she wanted nothing better than a real chance to experience actual diplomatic missions before her tenure at Klesta's side ended. But the Sith factions partially lifted their respective embargoes despite the scope of the embargo lifting being restricted to certain categories of consumer goods that had nothing to do with combat supplies. Enter the Techno Empire. Their predecessor, the Techno Union, disintegrated after a series of military disasters which led to the Sith Triumvirate rising and later successfully defending their capital against a SSC invasion.

It appears that the Republic has suffered a lot under Mandalorian embargoes; their barbaric economic practices have put a straitjacket on our economic capability. It would also appear that the Sith factions' neglect of economic matters cost them and that their economies have collapsed; hopefully the Techno Empire government would be more reasonable than the Sith factions and the Mandalorians were.

I propose that an economic summit be held with both parties so as to reach a trade agreement that will be reasonable to all parties involved. Of course, other aspects of diplomatic relations also need to be discussed, especially the military. We do expect a delegation but both sides' delegations would be best kept to a minimum so to as avoid diluting any resulting talks.

The response of the Techno Empire was a little... late to Klesta's taste. Not that the New Republic couldn't use a conference with the Techno Empire as a party, out of the original Republican participants, only one remains: himself. All the others have since withdrawn from public political life. Nevertheless, Klesta assumed the Techno Empire made a good-faith effort to answer their request. The New Republic had no reason whatsoever to be hostile to the Techno Empire, when the old Republic was neutral towards the old Techno Union (unlike what was the case during the Clone Wars). As he prepares his aide for a diplomatic mission to Geonosis, he prepares another response to explain the whole situation to the other party. What was in it with his luck lately, where diplomatic missions were often dead in the water in its early stages? Hopefully he will be able to carry this mission to conclusion.

Before we depart for Geonosis, I would have to inform you that there has been a change of participants. Rather than the originally-scheduled Caius Flavian, Martika Varta and Alexander Sannes, there will be new participants. Zaira Raghul, Jack Raxis and Raeya Papanoida will be invited instead. Nevertheless the conference will proceed with me as part of the delegation.

On behalf of the New Republic, I apologize for this sudden change of participants, but that is mainly due to the rather delayed response of the Techno Empire. I do not blame Your Majesty for this delayed response: I understand that the Techno Empire is also a faction in a similar situation vis-à-vis the Techno Union. Since I first launched this invitation, the Galactic Republic has collapsed, and between the Old and the New Republic in their current conditions, the New Republic will probably benefit more from such a conference: many of the technological and economic powers behind the Old Republic have rallied behind the New Republic since the Old Republic's collapse.
