PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Advanced filtration system
  • Range of sizes from 2 meter long to 2 kilometer long
  • Built in power generator with ease of access
  • Advanced data gathering, storage, and analysis programs
  • Remote networking system
Strengths:
  • Terraforming- The TEA system is a highly advanced terraforming machine. Due to the mixture of the advanced filtration system and advanced programs built into it there is little it can't fix over time. It is able to run remotely as well if need be due to these and turn a desolate planet into a habitable one eventually. The ability to connect them up together or with other systems, such as it's land/air counterpart, it can remotely share data to cover not just local area data but global data as well. This also makes it so an entire system of them can adjust their systems in sync with each other to maximize their effectiveness on both scales without causing problems such as the global scale ruining the local or vice versa.
  • Aquatic- The TEA system is terraforming system dedicated to the aquatic aspect of planets. Be it freshwater, saltwater, or anything in between, the system can handle it. This focus also means that the system has advantages over other systems that would attempt to focus on all aspects. It means it is more effect at its job because it can dedicate to the one task. It is also able to connect up with it's land and air focused cousin to increase this effectiveness by adjusting to the effects the air and land side have on the aquatic.
  • Sturdy- The TEA system is built to handle the abuse of more hostile environments. It achieves this by combining the use of light weight but strong reinforce alusteel coupled with silicar. The two materials work together to cover what the other has issues handling. This means it can weather hazards better and for longer than other terraforming units could hope to.
Weaknesses:
  • Maintain- The TELAR system is advanced and sturdy, but with it comes draw backs. The system can operate remotely but still requires regular check ups. The filters need to be switched out and helpful materials replaced on a regular basis. If this is not done, the system can begin to see a dramatic decline in it's effectiveness. If it goes on long enough without either of these actions as well it could cause the system to be overwhelmed and be damaged beyond repair.
  • Energy- The TEA system uses many advanced features and because of this is requires a lot of energy to keep running. Fresh power cells and fuel must be regularly added. If this is not done the built in power generator will stop functioning and shut the whole thing down. Without power it is little more than worthless scrap.
DESCRIPTION
With Mandalore currently dealing with major environmental problems, Raxis Independent Designs decided to focus all their attention onto correcting them. Many projects were proposed and of them the concept of a terraforming machine was picked up. Instead of handling it in the standard way, RID decided to split up the work and so the TEA system was born. It stands as the land and air counterpart to it's terrestrial and atmospheric cousin the TELAR system. Many prototypes were designed and the TEA system was finished.

The TEA system is both simple and complex in it's design. The simple aspect of it is in how it was physically built. It's frame and hull is created from a layering silicar and reinforce alusteel on top of each other. What this did was allowed the desired sturdiness of both to come through while protecting the individual materials from their issues. By using silicar, the alusteel is protected from environmental hazards such as corrosives, electricity, heat, and cold as well as allowing the alusteel to feel less strain because the silicar absorbs it. The alusteel in turn protects the silicar from being damaged by focused forms of impact such as blaster bolts or small rocks moving at high speeds, such as from underwater currents. The electronic components are inside of this highly protective case along the durable frame and are free to do their job safe from the outside conditions. A duraplast layer was then added to the outside to further protect both the silicar and alusteel. The last thing done was that a power generator was added inside with an easy to access panel so it could be repaired, maintained, or replaced.

The complex aspect of the TEA system's design comes in with what the electronic components do. Several systems dealing with data. A powerful processor was put in to run multiple programs at once quickly and large amounts of storage to store all of that data. The larger the system size as well the more of both it has available. It was given the ability to remotely connect to a network as well so that it could hook up with other TEA and TELAR systems. This allows it to not only share data but share the work of processing it. It also allows for every unit to adjust to the conditions and move towards the most effective approach for handling it's tasks on both the local and global scales. The last part to this internal system that was added was the filtration system. It allows for large volumes of materials to pass through and be adjusted to the needs of the terraforming effort. It also is where the data being used is collected from and as such is connected with the rest of the systems. This network is all interconnected to the point of being complex where the physical design was more simple.

The TEA system is not cheap. The use of silicar in it alone jacks up the price tag on purchasing it, but it also has many advanced systems that are expensive as well. This causes the upfront cost to be pricey even at cost, but it also deals with being expensive to keep running. The energy and maintaince demands mean that it requires new materials on a regular basis, which is already not cheap, and someone has to replace them. This means labor costs are higher for the system than others and combined with the other issues means it relies on it's raw power and effectiveness to be picked over others.

Another neat sub.

Expensive
I usually despise this as a weakness, well, at least regarding combat stuff. Nonetheless, with this, if you are going to go with expensive - I'd drop the production to minor? Makes it more sensible, imo.

I could, but the thing that makes it so expensive is combination of several things. I only made it a weakness because of that reason and to provide some more info on how it can be used for RP by others. Is there a reason outside of that 1 weakness that requires it to drop down from major? I'm honestly curious about that for future subs.

It just seems more sensible.

The other way I'd go for it is dropping expensive as a weakness and instead having it go to descripton while keeping mass produced. I just never can come to terms with an economical drawback when there's no economic system in place on chaos.
