The ruins of Ossus were heavy with memory. Long ago the Jedi built here, seeking light and knowledge, until fire destroyed it all.
Braze had kept himself busy amidst the ruins of the Great Jedi Library on
Ossus whilst
Okuma Milogen
rested aboard the
Mud Duck. He'd met a surprising number of individuals here on Ossus and conducted his business in secret while Okuma recovered. From reconvening with
Nathan Bloodscrawl
, to meeting his new Jedi hopeful,
Leos
, to sparring with
Jacen Breska
, and even crossing paths with
Scherezade deWinter
while exploring the lower levels of the ruined library.
When he was not compiling entries for his holocron, Braze took precious time to guide
Leos
. He spoke quietly about what it meant to be a Jedi, not bound by failed councils or rigid Orders, but as a calling that required balance, clarity, and compassion. To give the boy grounding, he set him to task in learning and reciting the Jedi Code in his own words to show his understanding, gathering fragments of crystal and parts of old lightsabers from the ruins as a first lesson in the construction of a lightsaber and elarning to recognize the pieces he'd need. He'd taught him the simple task of meditation among the broken archives and how to listen for the currents of the Force that lingered still in the stones of Ossus.
It was amid the ruins, that Braze worked to kindle a new flame even as
Okuma Milogen
lay beaten and healing, unaware of what had quietly begun to take shape in his absence.
Jacen Breska
was sure to arrive before long, seeking out the young Jedi Knight for assistance with a task of his own. The mercenary's timing would prove interesting; perhaps
Okuma Milogen
might even be cognizant enough by then to hear the proposition offered to Braze, though whether he would approve, object, or simply sneer from his sickbed was anyone's guess.
Okuma would certainly wake soon. When he did, he wouldn't find himself on Veridia, nor on some mercenary outpost, but upon Ossus; a world of broken temples and half-buried memory. The last thing he might have expected, after his selfish venture, was to open his eyes to the fractured sanctuaries of the Great Jedi Library, the echo of Jedi history pressing in on him from every stretch of vista before him. And worse still, he would not wake to silence, but to the low voice of Braze guiding young
Leos
with regailed stories and exerpts of history learned from
Gabriel Pryce
, and lessons He'd taken to heart from
Zark San Tekka
's wisdom, all whilst cautioning him of
Bernard
's folly.
